    Prefer them with 47k. I have a 51k bulk foil load in my tube phono amp. The trick is to have a tonearm that doesn't get too excited. Some folks say leave 'em wide open at 1Meg.

      Each to their own. My dad finds it too bright and forward with 47k.

    A nice introduction. I just got a grey export which I've had serviced.

      My dad wants to be clear, you need to load the cartridge with a 22k plate resistor. He omitted to mention this in the video.

      Awesome cartridge! Well done! I just got my Gold repaired by John Wright. About to mount it in my Townshend Elite Rock turntable mk2.

      @@mydadsaysaudio6192 John did mine as well, probably the same time he did yours: just before he retired. I’ve heard good things about the Garrott Bros. FFSS too. I’ve yet to play mine… I need a suitable arm. I did pick up a Wordon Articulated arm which was designed with the FFSS in mind but I’m not sure.

      @@mydadsaysaudio6192 I have seen one of your videos where he does talk about the resistor. And shows it. He didn’t mention the value though. I’ve seen that trick elsewhere too for other cartridges. It would be worth building a little selector box with bypass for other cartridges.

    Can you mount it in a RB250 modified to RB300 spec tonearm? I notice you can buy damping troughs for them if needed.

      I discussed this with my dad and we both agree that the Decca should work fine in a Rega with silicon dampening. I'm going to mount my Decca Gold into my Townshend Elite Rock turntable with a modded Rega RB300 with front end dampening. A dampened unipivot is also a good choice.

      @@mydadsaysaudio6192 Brilliant!, thank you very much, other question is, I listen to modern electronic music occasionally besides classical, rock etc, does the Decca also produce good bass?

    • @mydadsaysaudio6192
      @mydadsaysaudio6192  Před rokem +1

      @@engjds Yes, the Decca produces good bass, provided it is loaded correctly with a 22k resistor. Let us know how you go with yours. I'm also a fan of electronic music 😁.

      @@engjds Yes, it's fairly esoteric. I only know about it because my dad has two of them.
