Hi, thanks for sharing that. That is totally awesome! Thank you for showing the amount of heat it is giving out in the different areas.

Yes it is safe, if you take the proper precautions

Many variables people don't consider when they're doing this. The glues, epoxy resins, ect used to build rv's are extremely flammable and many especially in older rv's emit toxic gasses when they reach higher Temps. You can absolutely have a woodstove in your rv you just need to understand all the variables.

The only questions that I have are about the hole in the ceiling of the RV:
    1. What about re-sealing the hole, for times when it's not necessary to use the stove (Summer).
    2. How do you prevent the stove pipe from making direct contact with the sleeve? I see the screws, but they only seem to help below the ceiling.
    3. When the stove pipe gets black and discoloured, can you replace it with another type of pipe that's less susceptible to the effects of heat?
    Thanks for posting! 🍺😋👍

      I'm no expert but...
      1. In theory, one could make a cap of some sort. To cover the bit sticking out. So you could take off the chimney top for a lower profile. Possibly even make an insulated housing for it. Of course you'd want to do this while the system is cool. Lol
      2. Usually for wood stoves they make actual double wall flues. Kinda (but not exactly) like those double wall thermoses. Looks like his was a bit homemade. Maybe just fitted with an air gap. You could probably find one that is made for the job.
      3. Your best bet might be to go with 2.

This is definitely not something to play around with, installation codes required the top of the stove pipe to be at least 1 foot above the roof line. If you want 3" double wall flu you can order it on line from cubic mini wood stoves. I have the grizzly model and had it permanently installed in a 28' class c motorhome and it worked great.

You are going to kill both of you! I was a professional woodstove installer, even if you had used u.l. Listed chimney you still need two inches of clearance to combustibles! And what’s with the cookie sheet for a wall protector? Seriously do a safer install please!

It is not possible to measure on an unpainted shiny metal surface with an infrared thermometer. Put on a piece of masking tape or paint it black. A shiny metal surface measures the temperature reflected in it, for example your own body temperature.
