I find it humorous that no matter the scale, all beekeepers seems to be short on space.
YES hahaha
Have a great season!
Thank you!
Looking forward to all those queen's.
Me too!
Glad to see you back to the videos.
More to come!
Looking forward to seeing new videos.
Very soon!
Hope you have a great year with the bees Jake.
Thank you!
I enjoy your content! Thanks for showing us how commercial beekeeping works!
Thanks for watching!
In Michigan and just picked up 48 hives that just got back from California. Nice and strong! Our weather cooled off so waiting till mid April to split
Nice! Yeah we get started early here in TX
Work out bug collection lol
Glad you got a kick out of that 😂
Can you talk a little bit about how you introduce new queens when you make your splits? Only a 10% loss is pretty good for a 90%. Take
I would really appreciate it !!
Yes I’ll make a video on that!!
Just wondering... do the bees come back from California HEAVY? Or are they just bringing in pollen. Are they swarmy when they get back?
Answer to all of that is it depends. Usually they will put on weight out there, and the pollen is super good for them. We don't have many trying to swarm because we re-queen annually, but they certainly start to get fuzzy.
8,000 queens cells - thats crazy
Gonna be a busy season!!
What variety of queens do you use ? And who supplies them
Pol ii line from lambs here in TX
Is there Veronamite where you live?
Absolutely
@@jakemoorehoney how do you deal with them?
Are you just replacing queens or expanding? Are you selling these Nucs?
Both replacing and expanding. Don’t sell any nucs currently just brood.
How many splits do you make out of your average hive after almonds?
It depends on a lot. How the bees look, how many frames we make them up with, if we want to keep the old queen or replace her. I’d say they’re coming back with an average of about 8 frames of brood.
@@jakemoorehoney you stack them up and drop in queen cells after you split them back up. You ordered 6k cells from lamb. 🐑???
Everybody needs to reduce the use of plastic! Please do not put bees in plastic!! We are allready becoming sterile, you great grandchildren will thank you!
They’re in there for less than 30 days. I don’t like plastic either but the nucs don’t make any difference.
Where did you get the Tshirt?
McFarland aviation shirt from my favorite CZcamsr lol
@@jakemoorehoney I’ll check it out thanks!! I have 2 loves… airplanes and bees!!
@@jakemoorehoney I buy a lot of aircraft parts from them. I do aircraft restorations as well.
