I hope you also share this video with some of the ornithologists in your area as well as around the world. This is a beautiful example of predator avoidance behavior by pigeons over open water. I would also bet this is the first time that it's ever been documented too.

Just this year I saw a flock of racing pigeons briefly dip into a canal. I assume they had a quick drink. It was a very windy day and a very testing race.
But sad thing is not all pegeons will come home, coz some of them can get tired but there's no place to rest,. Very sad. You know what i mean

Obviously the birds are not in close room. The birds travel in the OPEN rear part of the Boat with all of the air that you can imagine! We think that no birds fallen in the water and not affect in any way to the performance.

the last opinion here has no ground too :) Even a single racing pigeon attacked by couple of piligrims(falcons) dive down at water level and falcons quit the chase. Homing pigeon is an inteligent bird with all means to survive!

Homing pigeons are very strong birds. Have a great inistinc in resisting falcons. I have seen that. But never release a sick or weak pigeon to race or train far from home.

The victims maintained a height, they didn't touch the sea so the theory goes wrong here that the went down so they could survive falcon attack. Pigeons have sharp eyes view and they were aware of water and those who touched the sea level just because of pressure from up side, means pigeon in upper part of the loft were decreasing there height thus those who were down had no option left.
The reason why pigeons appear to almost touch the water because they thought its a place to land because Falcons only hunt in the air but not on ground. So as when the pigeons figured that there's no way to land they realized their in deep shit and no other choice but to fly back in group. And for those who are saying its not a falcon, it is! Falcons normally hunt in pair the one distracts the birds and the other one goes for the kill
+Assassin _78 Not true, a pigeon can go on land and the falcon will fallow, when the pigeon sees a falcon they do the opposite, they fly up to fly above the falcon there they are saved, the falcon sees the pigeon they go up high very high so they can come down fast, they close their wings and come down at least at 250 mph, they only change the pigeon has is to wait until they are close and maneuver side ways, falcons cant turn at that speed, but the higher the pigeon goes, the better for them. I have been racing pigeons since 1968.

fantastic love the pigeons intelligence to stay low to avoid the peregrines ,my tipplers get attacked everyday here in west midlands overrun with peregrines time to start culling.
