As it's a tad long, I published it on the link above, it's not a virus. After not finding anywhere the lyrics of this song I dedicated some time to write it down! There are some mistakes I made because of my mishearing, if you notice one, please tell me! - Hudba
16 when this came out now 56. I remember sitting by the radio at night waiting fir the name. Magic show, not knowing at that time that rap music would be selling the way it does and also how it keeps transforming.
No doubt!! Golden Years... Basement and back yard parties was the sh*t!
I'm 17 and I have never thought that I'd listen to 80's old school hip hop. Be the internet blessed!
55 year old DJ born in Bronx.
We were the first generation of rap.
I was in 9th grade in 1980 when this track was released.
@@amanuel_23 It was all new to us. The first Digital keyboard synthenzier came out around that time. This changed the sound of music. I give Michael Jackson and Prince as an example. We had so much fun back in the 80's.
There is never enough music you have heard. Just discovering this song right now. Recommended in the Beastie Boys book.
You just got good taste
if u are 17 u should have known u can listen to everything on the internet, except the videos that have been memory holed
Its like they're rapping at me through an 80's tunnel
These cats get no love...this was the joint back in the day...
@dafugative Since when I'm 16 & I love this I even created the most in-depth Archive I could on all era's containing all the artists/MC's I rock with in the Hip-Hop Culture. However I'm not gonna act like all modern rap is bad as the Independent scene still exists & some rappers in the "New Wave" get mislabeled into the sub-genre & actually have Talent (i.e. Denzel Curry, Ethereal, Lord Linco & Amine) Sure none of them can compare to the Spirit, Energy & Legacy of the T3 as I have immense respect for them & everything they did & pioneered. Those guys I mentioned don't incorporate any scratching or have a DJ but they're still unique, fresh artists that don't need to be compared to anyone to be sentimentally enjoyed as a form of humble Art.
Kool Moe always had bars
They get plenty of love on my end
Neither do the Crash Crew 🤷🏾♂️
That guitar sets it off!!
Love how the guitar comes on in the background as the music begins to play
On the instrumental side, the rock guitar playing is amazing.
these dudes never get the recognition they deserve. there are plenty who don't ,but we know better.
Most underrated rap creation group of all time. No one in NY had beats like this!
What about the Fearless 4
@@YAVETHable Good also, but the Three were decades ahead, beat wise!
Wordup! Noone had beats like this at that time, so they real pioneers of groove rap.
That's really the great Tina Marie and Rick James..rip🙏🙏
Hear that brother, still hear that in 2023
Rock the body body, rock the body body rock. Dope ass ol school song. Needs more views.
Ric Smith Sampled in Tupac's Let 'Em Have It
Real Hip-hop!! Nobody wasting nobody!! Just fun and good vibes. Peace
Are you serious? Fools were killing each other then.
+Brooklyn Bred not like doing now in hip hop
Yes people were always killing each other, but he means the music represented the good in life, not glorifying violence and misogyny like hip-hop focuses on now.
Rodrick Phillips People have been wasted throughout rap's entire history. Why do you think there was a song called "Self Destruction" back in the '80s?
Rodrick Phillips true shit.. lmao he took it back with “Wasting” I heard that word in “the Warriors” lmao old words
Oh mah gah, when I was 13, we used go to the rink in New Rochelle, N.Y. and when the dj played this song everyone used to run take off their skates and go to the dance floor and dance with no shoes on!!! The good old days...
Wow...I'm from New Ro and you brought back some great memories with you mentioning - The Rink!!! Nice!
Omg!! Me and brother used to go there when would visit our. Cousins!! THE RINK WAS THAT SPOT!! Curtis blow used to dj there.
Let's get this masterpiece to millions views. 💯
Mariah Carey - Honey sampled this. Shout out to Stevie J.
thanks mate.. i was just worrying who
Q Tip & Puffy also produced Honey
@@RetroDimeDiva stevie j was apart of bad boy records hitman squad. He has credits for the "Honey" track and a few other from the "Honey" album
@@bb2ko Lol I know love. The comment above already mentioned Stevie J
Here’s a interesting fact she has a version called smooth down and she used the original beat
Way back here it is the treacherous three!!!!! who's still playing 2021
Yes this and white lines from grandmaster flash
And Funky Four Plus One More - THAT'S THE JOINT !
This will Always Rock...funky beat!
2020
2020 to infinity
Yeah she's a huge fan of hip-hop and classic R&B. There are dozens of references, samples, interpolations, and paying homage to our culture in her remixes and original songs. Mariah Carey loves doing that.
I'm here for her
This song sample wasn't her idea, it was legendary producer Q Tip's idea. Queen Mariah just added to the beauty of it.
And she always gives credit to the people she samples
@@siliconiusantogramaphantis2122 actually he just programmed the drums
Producer stevie J made it happen
ONE OF THE BEST TRIO'S
IN RAP HISTORY!!!!
Their voices were so crisp and clear!
Just heard this on a episode of Blackish. Brought back so many great memories of when rap and hip hop was young, safe and fun. Partying for hours with no violence or negative vibes whatsoever.
One of the greatest hip hop songs ever completely timeless 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The samples from "Body Rock" and "Hey DJ" (World's Famous Supreme Team) are exactly what makes Mariah's "Honey" catchy and good.
No that would be her vocals and the great remixes david Morales did for the song!
Totally Agree. @xxxTIN0xxx
I miss being early 80s kid sometimes mostly because of the music like this timeless hit.
I WAS A B-BOY BACK IN THE DAYS WHEN THIS WAS HOT AND IT STILL IS PEACE TO THE TREACHEROUS THREE FOR MAKING MUSIC LIKE THIS
British Walkers,Adidas, Lee Jeans, Sheepskin Coats, Kangol Hats, Gazel Glasses I was with you homeboy those were the greatest times of my life
Cold Crush, Treacherous 3, Furious 5 stands apart from the rest!! 👊🏽💯 Legends....
One of the best old school jams! Pity I can't buy it on iTunes
Yeah! Why can’t we buy this on iTunes?
Get Apple Music family
REAL Hip-hop, when it had a SOUL !
When rap was fun , I'm talking $1.00 house parties
david anderson wait you still get you chain took and sheep skin stolen lol
yo remember the traffic lite in the basement had to have towel on my color cntrl the drip.... yo anybody still got a flyshirt ??? lol
All you needed was 1 dollar to get in, 2 dollars for a 40 and 5 dollars for a bag of weed.
I remember quarter parties in the projects 🤣
Old school classic
Back when young folks battled with their words and dance moves! Instrumental rocks the body as well!
Yeah, the rock guitar on the instrumental is amazing.
Back when raps were 10-15minutes long.
B Noble Despite it being neither
B Noble LOOOL but that's a Sugarhill Records thing too.
that's coz parties needed to last....... end of.....
B Noble Yes, nowaday cats run out of lyrics after the first verse and most times that b booty. Stuck on 6. For those that don't understand 6. Physically contained. Or trapped. They dubba dubba dubba you. When that's over. Look at her ass. All the weight on the woman. WEAK.
chiile yes
do any young people under 30 like this type of music
yes I do
I'm 25 and I do.
19 and it's almost all I listen to
Abraham Palmer I do I'm 14 been listening to old music since 12
Abraham Palmer yessssss
Heard this song on the Scarface game at like 10 and always remembered it
Just sitting here drinking and thinking, oh snap, I forgot about the treacherous three, they were always able to get you up and dance!!!
WHOEVER disliked this, ARE MASSIVE HATERS. LOVE THIS JAWN..
Thank you Beasties! Read the Beastie Boys Book!!!!
This jam reminds me of the JAMS in the park back in the dayzzzz.☺️😂🤣. New York City. Hey. When everyone came together, and JAMMED. The street light was the outlet. Rocked until the break of dawn.🍺🍺🍻🍻🍾🍾
oh honey, you can have me when you want me...
wrong song.
Luis Gomez you simply ask me to be there
very tempting sing that , but it is still the wrong song.
+Lambily and Arianators unite its come running, and again, wrong song.
LaCurrone C don't you dare mention arianators when you talk about Mimi and her lambily 😒
CLASSIC OLD SCHOOL!!!!
This is a very classic song by a classic hip hop group
the pioneers grandmasters of rap hip hop ny fun and crossover crazy music!!!! we still love it now!!!!!
i like how 80's hip hop was about having a good time...it comes through in the music
Brings me back to my rapping at house party days!!! Ahhhhh, thanks for posting. :)
The first rap group to mix rock and hip hop. Not Run Dmc
mrpower328 no dmc was first
"It Certainly Was!"
@@reginaldlivingston8978 negative, run dmc wasnt formed til '83, treacherous 3 was formed in '78 and this song came out in '80 when I first heard this song I literally thought it was run DMC that just shows you how much they bit their whole style and this song is funkier than any run DMC song
Hmmm i beg to differ....first band to mix rock and rap were The Clash...listen to The Magnificent Seven or even Overpowered by Funk or the other jams they did with Futura 2000
@@sergiotamagnini5797 hes talking about rap groups and also the clash aint hip hop or rap
Back when hip hop was awesome. I miss 80s and 90s music.
The Treacherous are true pioneers of hip hop and will be in the Rock and Roll have of fame eventually
Steven Pleasant Rock had fame already
Need to be included in Hip Hop / Rap Hall Of Fame actually
Another bad ass joint..was living in Money Earnin Mt Vernon when I first heard it..@1980
We rocked this shit back in the day!!!!!!!!!!
for real
I'm jealous girl lol
old school all the way the treacherous three with of course kool moe dee
Glad to see after 43 years newest generations R still enjoying Old School Rap.
On the cover from left to right are: Special K (Kevin D. Keaton) - L.A. Sunshine (Lamar Hill) - Kool Moe Dee (Mohandas Dewese). Thanks Caio Bogoni for the upload.
Another chemical combination of pure joy!
Oldie but goodie in Hip-Hop!!
1981 was the year when this came out.I clearly remember this. I was 12 years old back then.
I was 6
I'm sorry, but I CLEARLY remember this joint being played on the Mr Magic Show on WHBI after 2am in the morning in 1980.
@@johndoe1719 close enough lol....i know I was in the 6th grade...and that 1980/1981 school year...britisher walkers and black suede playboys....sharkskin slacks,mock necks....that what I rocking back then!!
We rocked this when I served in the military!!!
1980 1981... you can't go wrong with this song. My youngest uncle who was 12 at the time played this and the beat stuck with me. He was the cool uncle lol he turned me on to the underground and explicit side of hip hop music. Back before it kicked the music door down
*** This was maybe the most undervalued track during the semi-early rap era; it is really an unsung "Masterpiece." I don't think I ever heard it played anywhere other than local NYC station "WHBI" on the "Disco Showcase" with Mr Magic?! But then again, that was back in 1980 after hours between 2 and 4am in the morning. It came on only once a week -- but you had to stay up late enough to catch it; at least it was the weekend 👍👍👍
SO IS KOOL MOE D
L
Yeah, I was up listening and taping that show in the earlier morning hours! LOL! Wasn't there also a Supreme Team show on that station?
This is real hip hop. Pioneers of real old school rap music! I love this jam. Reminds me of my Coney Island days! Thank u 4 posting baraka & thank u Port my homeboy 4 sharing this classic gem with me! 1LOVE, Giggles... back in da days da jams were longer & we all enjoyed it! I love it!!!!
This record brings back nostalgia when NYC was number #1 also the Big Apple 42nd street fun 3 Kung Fu features for the price of one, three hot dogs for the price of one, Pumas was Hotter than Nikes Pro-Keds was ok, Crazy Street performances, The arcade, Taking pictures with your girl or crew, sit down let an artist do a dope sketch of you, shinny cars coming down forty-duce, on a hot summer night, street foods, Seeing Broadways plays cheap, Electronics, Jewelry, Clothes, Every kind of food you could name was nearby Disco's everywhere all-night dancing beautiful girls from all over the world just having fun.
go around the corner to 8th Ave to Show World a peep-show lol and much more.
Peace to the originals! Hip-hop lives forever
This is real hip hop. Pioneers of real old school rap music! I love this jam. Reminds me of my Coney Island days! Thank u 4 posting baraka & thank u Port my homeboy 4 sharing this classic gem with me! 1LOVE, Giggles
Same here. What a wonderful book. It's amazing to have a soundtrack to go through while reading... favorite activity of 2019 so far.
When *Hip Hop was Funky and Happy* .
If youre interested I got some newer stuff thats got funky or positive vibes too, like positively inclined by wax tailor, you just need to look if you want to find
This was the jam back in the days.
True old-school really doesn't get any better than this! Tuning into Mr Magic on WHBI at 2:00 am in the morning was the best . . . I remember waiting so patiently for this joint to play by Sir Juice(himself). I think this and the "New Heartbeat" were my favorites. Wow, how I miss the energy of those days
(¯`•.•´¯) (¯`•.•´¯)!!
definitely one of the best Rap songs of all time if not best songs
One of the best groups from back in the day, dedicated to all the old school fools!
Freaking classic! One of my faves from the Jurassic period of hip hop... cant stream it anywhere
The bassline was wicked
More like 60's and '70's, who actually grew up in the 80's and remember this....80's babies grew up on LL and NWA
I'm from New York and i remember this song very well, although i did start getting into HipHop heavy after L.L. came out😂😂😂😂
OMG-Anybody from 1980"s philly would remember Circus City, the AfterMIdnight!! Hey young people, we knew how to have fun and party w/out any killing!!! We partied in peace. Even if there was a fight, it was w/ the hands NOT w/ guns!!! I miss those days!!!
my mom was there when hip hop first came out cause she lived in NEW YORK!
knows all the songs! TODAY'S hip hop IS DARK AND DEMONIC!
true brotha!!!! im from bompton tho
Princess lulu. Im not jealous of many BUT im am so jelly your mom got to experience NY and real hip hop
I can only IMAGINE the stories she has!!!
Princess lulu I was there also...went to high school with the funky 4, I know moe d and his brother, it was great times...
Reggae is the start of hip hop lol since the 1950's worldwide
God that bass is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
reminiscing on the 80's brought me here.
This joint is still on fire.....this era was fun as well as the 80s and 90s.....now...not so much skinny jean rappers and drug culture have infiltrated hip hop.
When rap was fun, nobody got shot it was about partying and displaying your skill. Then music execs decided that violence, sex, and degrading women sold more records. I Used to Love H.E.R. aka Hip-Hop in its Essence is Real.
I remember they use to play this at the Fever in the Bronx back in the day
The Jam! South West Philly house parties in the winter of 190-'81 DJ Bobby Dance & the Fatal Funk Force used to tear this up!
bobby dance swphilly all day n da day
Juan Carro
Scarface brought me here
x2 bro
How did face bring ya here?
"Sir Juice" himself, used to kill this jam on WHBI in the wee hours of the mornin' back-in-the-day!!
When this came on in Brooklyn. Maaaan listen.
They are hip hop royalty!!!
The first time I heard this song was at a hooky party in the Bronx everybody from the area who was somebody was there this party was packed with people I knew when this song came on everybody hit that dance floor
Yeah that's what's up ❤😅
THUMBS UP FOR THE OLD SCHOOL PIONEERS !!
Old skool hip hop and rap had clean messages. It was music your parents could listen to and not necessarily censor. 👍
Just like Honey,!! :-)
wrong song.
I see you're bitterly all over these comments. Who cares? Can't people find joy in the sample? I'm sure this song had a good bump in popularity when Honey came out. Credit was given to this artist so people would look them up when they heard Honey and you're here being negative because people are commenting about the song that sampled this?
LaCurrone C lollllll so everybody realizing Mariah Carey Sampled
DM M lolllll thought i was tha only one who peep it
When your love comes over me...
That was the JOINT back then...That would be FIRE of this day...THE LOVE OF HIP HOP LIVES ON...

This joint speaks LIFE!!! Word to my Mother😁!
One of my favorite joints
Makes me miss being an 80s kid.
I'm rocking the JAM!! now ALWAYS!!👍🏾✌🏾
HERE'S A HI FIVE FOR POSTING THIS OLD SKOOL HIP HOP JAM CAIO.
I have to admit, mariah carey's honey brought me here, but i love this song, this song i could jam to all day.
Cant go wrong with either song
LaCurrone C same jamming out to it
Any song executive produced by Sean Combs will bring you to something. The man has never produced an original beat in his entire career. Stevie J either
My youngest uncle who is 6 years older than me,back then he was the coolest because he knew the best music and i alwats listened to his favorites and it rubbed on me. This song including 😎 ... I'm turning 45 this year he will be 52. So do the math as an 80s kid and see how young i was when i heard this
I really needed this today!! Totally good vibes peace and love everybody
This is a true classic Body rocking hot, all skill lyrics, Kool mo Dee in his bloom.
''Honey'' by Mariah Carey, sample this!
naaaah, you don't say .
Don't forget "Hey DJ" by the World Famous Supreme Team
Daniel Drakeford 2pac sampled this song its called let em have it
