  • Gordon Ramsay is one of the most famous chefs in the world. He has amassed several Michelin stars throughout his career, built a successful reality TV career with shows like Boiling Point, the F Word, Hell's Kitchen, and Kitchen Nightmares, and opened several successful Gordon Ramsay fast casual restaurants, such as Gordon Ramsay Burger, Gordon Ramsay Pub and Grill, Ramsay's Kitchen, and Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips. In this video, we will review the fanciest of all these restaurants, Gordon Ramsay steak.
    Gordon Ramsay's recipes are all well-known, but Gordon Ramsay's steak recipe video is one of his most viewed vids. Gordon Ramsay's career is mostly highlighted by his achievements in the haute cuisine world, as evidenced by his Michelin stars. Most notably, Gordon Ramsay's flagship restaurant Restaurant Gordon Ramsay has held three Michelin stars for over 20 years straight. While his other restaurants may have been more casual food, steak is more close to his expertise. It is a simple dish, but its taste is entirely dependent upon the details of its preparation.
    Will Gordon Ramsay's steakhouse live up to the hype? Is Gordon Ramsay legit or is Gordon Ramsay overrated and just a celebrity chef coasting off his name now? Watch my video as we review his restaurant and determine if his recipes truly are as good as they are made out to be. We won't only be trying Gordon Ramsay's steak, but we will also be trying the famous Gordon Ramsay beef wellington and seeing if the Gordon Ramsay beef wellington recipe lives up to the hype.

    $80 for a steak and no sides. These prices are ridiculous! For that same price I can grill 4 good sized ribeyes at home. They may not be cooked by Gordon Ramsey, but he sure ain’t behind the grill there either.

      @uaeats  Před 9 měsíci +20

      You're right, it's expensive and should be $10 or even $20 cheaper, or at least come with sides. Whether or not it's Ramsay himself cooking it I would say is not as relevant. When you're a head chef you rarely cook yourself, you're more the captain of the kitchen brigade and mostly delegate and supervise.

    UA a story for you since you seem to like Gordon Ramsey resto’s. I never have liked the guy. Seems arrogant etc. so never ate at his places bc of that. However, my friend an I , who is originally from Scotland, wanted to eat at his resto at Caesars before we went to see Adele. Surprisingly the food was really good and she is picky being from Scotland and now SF. Well, we were seated very close to Ramsey in the coliseum! My friend went over to speak to him. He was so nice and humble to fans coming up to him. He gave my friend a warm hug as she was from his home town. He didn’t turn away fans as they wanted to shake his hand and take a selfie. He thanked us for eating at his resto. So, after that I totally changed my mind about him. He is a nice guy and was pretty low key. Glad you enjoyed his food.

    Greetings from Denmark. I have watched a few of Ua's videos, which have all been steak reviews in various restaurants. I am also a steak lover and am struck by how expensive the steaks have been in all of these videos. I was in Horsens Denmark last Friday, and went to the highest rated steak house (according to Trip Advisor) in that city. I ordered a 300 gram tenderloin steak with fries and a salad for 280 Danish crowns, which according to today's exchange rate is 40 US dollars. And Denmark is known for it's high restaurant prices...so I think Ua frequents pricier places in general. Or maybe the prices in the USA are higher, but that perception does not jibe with what I have known for years, which is that Denmark is much more expensive for eating out than the USA. I like the way he closes his eyes and looks so absorbed in the experience when chewing as he tries his first taste of something.

    Here's a video idea. Go to a Korean BBQ restauant and spend the same amount of money as you would for a steak at a nice steakhouse and compare the experience: the price/to pleasure ratio, the amount of food you get (e.g. all the free side dishes you get at a Korean BBQ), and the dining experience. I love steak, too, but these kinds of prices are ridiculous for a piece of meat and some steamed/mashed vegetables.

    You got it backwards. A ribeye is harder to cook than a filet, strip or sirloin steak, because of the high amount of fat that separates the fat cap from the rest of the steak. This can lead to the steak breaking apart and not cooking evenly. It’s why some places tie the ribeye together before cooking it. The easiest steaks to cook are always one solid piece.

    • @mikeymike1854

    I really appreciate your appraisal of the NY strip; I agree with your rationale for choosing it above the other cuts; I appreciate what you mean about the crust of grilled vs pan broiled, and I totally agree that if a steak is of fine meat and skillfully cooked, the various sauces are unnecessary. Now by the same token, if the meat in Beef Wellington is the same as in the steak, all the pastry and froufrou is even more inappropriate than sauce on a steak. Of course pan deglazed au jus or a beurre maitre d'hotel or anchois may often be appropriate, and like lemon in Italy may enhance a not quite perfect piece of meat. Oh. but Filet Sauce Bearnaise is so good. . .

    the trick to great new york strip is cutting part of the fat on the edge off, and dicing it. rendering the fat out in the pan, and then cooking the strip in its own fat making it absorb it like a sponge.

    Thx for the Cool review, Ive been curious to see ramsays restaurants and there's not many good vids about 'em. Maybe that has something to do eith with the Ramsay prices😅, even if i made super good money i might have to turn down a Ramsay ribeye. But the strip did look awesome.

    Great comment on the mustard in the steak sauce. Weird;; very weird with steak. I was wondering about the mustard on the side of the NY strip. Mustard omission great with pork and not so much for beef. Maybe that’s a Scottish/English thing but I never experienced that in England.

    That was a good review as always ! Pricing aside the strip steak look on point and a demi glaze on the plate look wonderful who needs steak sauce as far as the beef wellington you can keep it I want my filet mignon by itself itself on the plate don't need some pastry dough wrapped around it! Way overrated and hyped😮 oh and the bread like sleeping on a TempurPedic mattress so light and fluffy😂 I love good bread and butter before a steak and surf along with either french onion soup or lobster bisque prices were not too bad considering where you were you're paying for a real estate and the name

    It’s hard to find beef welly, even in big cities. The few places that do serve it usually only serve it seasonally. Ramsay’s restaurants are the only places I know that always have it.

    I just came back from AC and tried Gordon's restaurant. I agree with the Wellington. Although it was good, it was missing some punch. The crabcakes were very nice. My wife had salmon with the Shrimp Risotto which was very nice. Overall a bit spicy, worth an experience.

    I've eaten at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas which is a bit noisier. Never had straight steak, I always go for the Wellington which seemed smaller in the video. Probably due to shrinkflation. 😂 Another great steakhouse is Prime at Bellagio in Las Vegas by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. They serve a trio of complimentary steak sauces, but their signature one is the bomb. 🤤

    If you look at the doneness of the Wellington compared to strip, the Wellington is definitely medium rare and the strip is more medium. (I like medium.) Ramsey is the Nusr-et before there was a Nusr-et. That said, GR is ok, and it's more about his reputation. If you goto a GR restaurant in LV, it's like banquet food.. ok but no love and care. I think he just counts the money from his American restaurants where the food quality is more in his euro establishments.

    Hey UA, I noticed that you often say things are "too steep" and such. Do you have a video of some kind of price guide for steaks when at restaurants or the butcher. I searched - but I couldn't find any.

    • @uaeats
      @uaeats  Před 9 měsíci

      Good question! It of course depends on the city and the quality of the restaurant, but I would say in NYC for example you should not expect to pay more than $70 max, even at a bougie place. The top end would be ribeye (and for $70 it better be a big ribeye), NY strip should be cheaper, then filet mignon, then everything else like sirloin etc. Btw $70 is a highhhh end for a very high quality ribeye. I would even say more like $60 is more fairly priced.
      As for the butcher, this depends on fluctuating meat prices and inflation etc, but I would say for a prime ribeye you can expect to pay about $20-25 per pound, and around $17-20 for a prime NY strip. For choice quality steak I would not pay more than $12-15 per pound max.
