This was the golden era of supertraining! Wish they would get back to pros moving big weight again!
The only super training videos worth a damn. I hope these never get taken down.
that 905 was on Stans back for a full 15 seconds, fucking crazy
One of the best lifting videos on youtube
this video just spiked my testosterone up to 5 times the legal limit
So funny reading comments on people saying what these guys need to improve on. They are just two of the top powerlifters in the world, and breaking world records, in the biggest powerlifting federations.
+christopher russell Most guys are on something man. Just because they might be using steroids doesn't make it easy.
Cool Din Shut the hell up why don't you go train with these men and then see what it really takes. Steroids don't make you big. Training+steroids makes you big. You could be on so much gear and not lift and nothing would happen to your body
Cool Din Steroids by themselves cannot make you big. Someone who doesn't lift and takes them will not see any results. Nothing is hard to understand about that. Most pro BBs trained for 15+ years before going on and were huge when they were natural anyway. Do your research and stop pretending you know something about it.
Cool Din It enhances your potential depending on how many years you have been natural. If someone lifts for one year and jumps on not much will happen. Like you said if someone lifting for 10+ years go on it will of course make your body a powerhouse
Stan's squat stance goes so hard. The dude looks like a superhero!
This video is something special: the laid-back, but informative commentary, the multiple angles and minimal editing, the gradual build up to the final 800 and 900 lb squats; you don't see these kinds of characters and content anymore. It's been replaced with all the attention-seeking Tik-Tok hacks, the plastic, Gymshark Instagram bimbos, and just the general commercialization and hyper-media-centric character of the current-year fitness scene.
I remember watching this video when it was uploaded, and have watched it every couple of years since (even though I'm not actively powerlifting anymore) just to remind myself of the Golden Era of the CZcams powerlifting scene. Thanks for still having this up, Jim.
Fantastic video of these two beasts. Unreal strength and toughness. Love it.
these vids are quick becoming my favorite things to watch! as soon as i get back to monterey, I'm making a trip up to boss barbell and super training gym! thanks for the vids guys!
Thanks for the vid Jim. Worth the wait!!!!
And another video goes into my squat day pre-training playlist. Thanks for the uploads.
It's crazy how Stan only uses 1 finger per hand to hold onto the bar and it looks so damn stable
Try it, it forces you to get the bar in the right position and not rely on your hands to hold it in place
Best YT powerlifting channel, keep that awesome work!
Finally side views of Stan. Thanks for all of this Jim!
It's really interesting to check out their squat form from the different angles, thanks for including those.
Great, great video of two great lifters. Thanks!
gods among men.. seriously these gentleman are so impressive, as well as inspirational. Great vid, keep up the good work gents.
Unreal this channel rocks!
Amazing. The only word to
Describe it.
Fantastic video, great athletes!
That speed on the 905 though! Oh my goodness!
That 905 was insane !
That video left an impression! Well done gents!
Thank you for the video, thumbs up.
Such explosive power coming up from those squats. Insane!!
Still the most epic squat session ever
There’s 18 year old kids throwing up these weight now, how insane this was compared to now
I love this shit! I can watch this all day!
Absolutely.... Fricking... Incredible
Sick video!! Stan n Dan are FREAKS!
Dan's face at the end of the video.... that was tough, even for him!
The magic of ST Gym.
Just got my Slingshot in the mail today... bummer, missed out on that $10 savings. Either way, these videos are awesome and informative. Thanks for the info and badass CZcams channel.
don't know why this popped on my recommended, but I miss this era of powerlifting
Damn they had people loading weights and spotting for they're training session. That would be so fun to have that. Super training is sick
Thanks! and you're welcome.
Incredible
thanks man :)
Awsome
I've had a similar issue with tight and weak hips. What JM said, but also I've had good results with using low box squats (mostly to keep depth consistent) below parallel, as an assistance movement, starting narrow and gradually moving my feet out as I'm able. Also going wide, I had to start with a higher box, then gradually lowering the box as able, keeping that wide stance. It takes time, but I've seen good improvement over the past few months. I'm old, so it might not take you as long. :)
stan is a monster he will hit a grande in no time
Definitely can't argue depth on either of those massive squats.
Nice
905 Squat....unbelievable....
Tyng. ATG is great and but when powerlifting, it's more conducive going just below parallel.
Yes
nice!
unreal shit goin down at st gym
You are welcome...and thank your friend for me.
Efferding is one of the best ever, watch the Rhino at work
Knee wraps are the Metal Silvers. 2.5 m
supertraining.tv needs its own cable channel
Damn, wish I lived in Cali!
holy crap
CRAAAZY!!!
You're welcome
Where u get that ST T-shirt??
I want that one 2
Dan the grinder!
do you guys have any flexibility tips? i can squat deep with a narrow stance but when I go wide my hips feel super tight
It would be great to go to Super Training gym and get some face time with the elite lifters there. Just don't have much quality lifters in the north of Scotland
North Scotland?? Lol. I was just reading about North Scotland and the Republic of Scotland just last night. The former under British rule and the latter independent. Anyway, you have a super long flight to take :D
Just switch to lifting cars, the one who lifts the range rover takes the cup
"40lb PR...MOTHER OF GOD"
titan THP wraps im pretty sure. Thanks for answering on the shoes.
awesome!!! (Niko best announcer too)
Look up "Mobility WOD"
I deadlift sumo style but if I widen my squat stance like those guys do my adductor tendons hurt(you know right and left of the balls) This happens when I externally rotate my hip in order to have a vertical shin to the ground. Should I push the ground OUT more instead of right down? Anyone else expirienced this?
happened to me,, never stretch your adductors after your workout,, go to sauna right after workout for 60 mins or so and then get a basketball or medicine ball,, use a knee height table and place the ball on table and your adductor above it,, basically loosen every muscle there,, then stretch your adductor by sitting down into wide stance squat and push ur knees out from inside using ur elbows.
Yeah I also do this stetch with the elbows on my knees, and i foam roll instead of the medicine ball... But never tried a sauna after my workout... I thought ice is better post workout, but anyway I'll try this out! Thnx!
never ice your muscles, even if u get injured... Instead rest the injured area and use compression band or massage to increase the blood flow.. ice decreases the blood flow which is okay for pain but it will hurt the recovery
You watched the whole video and THAT was your question? This was an after-hours session and the people who hung out to help, didn't really have anything else to do. We've been doing this long enough that we've seen strong lifters have accidents with relatively light weights. Shit happens.
From the front, some of those squats looked high, but the side angle shows most of them were to parallel. These guys are incredible.
Dan Green has some serious balls
what constitutes an elite spotter?
I have never seen 905 move that fast. Its crazy. The guy goes down slow, looks like he is going to fold and then goes "FUCK YOU WEIGHT!" Badass vid. Also, love Mark Bell's man crush on Dan Green and his pretty hair hahahaha.
what kind of knee wraps is Dan using?
What shoes does the rhino wear? They're cool
a very upright torso? close to vertical shins, maybe?
Ithink on kk you can see the asb thru a t-shirt
That grip that Stan Efferding uses is unusual, though Mike Bridges used a wide grip too. Does he ever explain it? Thanks.
his back is too big,
usually they say grab the bar and bend it with your lats, some people can go close some cant
Your statement about Efferding sounds convincing. However, I believe Dan Green uses a narrow grip, and wraps his wrists for support because of the pressure from the bar. Thanks.
Stan is getting close to Malanichev....now that would be a good match up...
Only dan green and stan efferding could make mark bell look small in a picture
Defrancos limber 11 is also good.
ed coans quads actually went below his knees, like they should in a competition style squat!
LMAO!!! That's a new one; I've never seen that one before! (a dropped jaw!)
can you even squat 405? exactly
I think he usually weighs about 240-245 but drops to 220 for meets
Can someone tell me why are Stan and Dan not breaking parrallel depth? Is it because of the rules of the federation they compete in?
Ivan Raynovski they're just trying to lift the maximum weight possible bro, going deeper requires more energy and so means they can handle less weight, parallel is the minimum requirement and so they do the minimum depth to let them hit the maximum weight
They're going for record or near-record lifts, so anyone is going to cut it close at that effort. To be honest though, those wouldn't pass in IPF.
fater watching stan and dan not hit their squats at the meet i was thinking the whole time about this video, wasnt this heavy session to close to the meet? i mean for the intensity this guys bring to the weightroom, this must be very stressfull to do and to comeback from, not hating at all, they are 2 of the strongest men of earth
people talk about Stan's depth but of they actually watched all the way to the 905 squat they'd see that he definitely gets below parallel. seriously impressive
905 really gosh
5"8.5"
is this the common rule for depth?
"...the top surface of the legs at the hip joint are lower than the top of the knees."
- usapowerlifting,com
would rhinos 605lbs squat get white lights?
i´m not trying to talk shit or something i´m just here to learn.
Was Stan's 905 a PR?
please forgive my ignorance but how is Stan so fast coming up from the squat and so slow going down into it?
Super you put down the weights in kilograms too
how come Stan is never really 100% upright before and after his heavy squats?
If Stan wanted his toes inward more I think he would have done that. It looks like he gets a ton of power from his adductors and hamstrings.
brb speed set with 905, i dont understand
Dunno how much he is in this video, but he's usually 250lbs and competes at 220lbs.
I think he usually cuts about 20lbs for his meets, so he probably is more like 240lbs here. Still crazy muscularity for his weight, no doubt!
Holy xmas fuckin awesome squatting! Thanks also for mentioning the fact that a lifter needs to sort out according to his body mechanics the right form/technique/variables regarding grip, bar placement, knees, stance, width, head & elbow position, etc--what is optimal for some may not work for others. Inspiring video thanks
