What is Waterjet?
Waterjet - a general name for the technology of cutting or cleaning various materials using high-pressure water. The technology was born in the 1970s, but it was not until the early 1980s that it found wider application in industry. The word waterjet itself can be translated as a jet of water and refers to cutting or cleaning with water alone. A more correct name of the technology (taking into account the number of applications) is abrasive water jet (AWJ) which also refers to the use of water, but with the addition of abrasive (cutting with water alone is limited to certain types of materials). In Poland, the term water-abrasive or hydro-abrasive machining is used as a translation of the term abrasive water jet, and the machine itself is often called a CNC cutter. However, the term waterjet is the most popular, colloquially used word referring to this technology.
