This is the wave of owning a home in the future. Retail spaces or commercial property being converted to residential. Everything from dead malls, to gas stations and even diners and cafes. What a brilliant concept. Plus its a good way to save materials and go green. I love the whole living in a mall idea. Everything inside and walking distance. Want to make a run to Starbucks or the drug store. It's just a few steps away.
7/18/18.....What a unique & great redo for an older corner gas station. Reminds me of old soda fountain places like in the 50s/60s movies. Somebody should do a video of all these older commercial places that have been converted in such wonderful old but restyled places to work/live.
Love the black subway tile bathroom. What did the son do with the place after the Dad passed away? Did he move in there? He was a true New Orleans original. Rest in peace. Respect! GOD BLESS!
This place is awesome! I love how creative and the openness of the space. The kitchen is clever ...I loved it! Happy to see another person that isn't wasteful and knows how important it is to recycle whenever possible.✌😁👍
Very cool, and it looks bigger on the inside. I love what he has done with the bathroom, especially the tiles that go up the wall, finishing with the logo.
2023...Neat story. I recall these gas station conversions going on in the 1980s, too. One that I saw the owner turned the "service pit",....which was where a mechanic would climb down into to access a car's oil pan, instead of the car being on a lift. The home owner turned the "pit" into a water feature. Not big enough to swim in, but a place to either soak, or cool down in. He had to install a pump to get the water back out of it. Other times the water feature, had live Koi,...a kind of large fresh water fish, resembling a large goldfish, living in the pool. Several of them. The possibilities are endless, for a conversion into a living space.
cool ! My dad owned a Sinclair station with his childhood friend in the south circa 1963 - 1966. I was around 4 when they sold it. I remember visiting them there for lunches etc. And I recall the Glee in washing up with little green " Sinclair's Dino Dinasaur" soaps hahaha!
As cool as that is, I can't help but think if the area is still zoned commercial that the property was too valuable to be a mere house, unless you really really want to live in that area and hear cars driving by all hours of day and night.

Honestly, there's no impropriety with cosleeping with your kid if you're not a child molester. Lots of parents do it and it's very common in many cultures. It seems like Americans think it's weird more than most.

Put the old gas pumps out front with the old lighting, Retro gas station, Give em full serve, wipe the windshields with the old grey paper towel after you squirt em with the water bottle, I remember that when I was a kid!!! Beautiful!! A previous gas station in my town was converted into a coffee shop. It’s wonderful to repurpose old buildings if they are salvageable .

The Bayou St. John area better known as "Back-a-town", is some 20 blocks from the end of the French Quarters.
This is just a terrific renovation.If you ever put in on AirBnB it will be one of their most unique! Great job.
