14:05, to answer your question, the main theme for AY figures is articulation over sculpt. Most American toy companies are notorious for sacrificing articulation for the sake of appearance/sculpt. However, AY does the complete opposite. Therefore, most of their figures look goofy as hell whenever you have them in a neutral standing pose. The figures are meant to be kept in crazy poses with all their limbs bent up and to be displayed mid air with the stand. The gapping looks insanely bad when you have them in simplistic humanish poses, but let's say for instance you want Joker firing his guns with his arms below his legs, you can certainly do that. Great review, laughed quite a bit during the articulation segment 😄

I think Jada Toys, SHF and MAFEX hit that perfect spot of balancing good articulation and sculpt. Although Amazing Yamaguchi did improve their aesthetic with the new 2.0 Spider-man where he looks much better than the 1.0 Spider-man.

Kudos to AY for the excellent work on this Catwoman (which looks to be much better quality than the Mafex Hush version (rated as a 7.5 by dHunter 😂😂😂) imo. Really like the Catsuit detail & the goggles down (night vision lenses) head & the accessories are awesome too imo. This will be the definitive 1:12 scale Catwoman in my DC display, for sure and I'd rate as a solid 8.5 👌outta 10). Interesting that the AY rant in this post refers to certain older AY figures that may not even be authentic (Huh, what???). Also, I have the AY New 52 Superman & AY Flash & they are fantastic figures (& most CZcams reviews of such by reputable reviewers concur) & so highly recommend those for any 1:12 scale DC display. Thanks for the post as was looking for a review of this fig.

@@dHuntersReviews Re: AY Superman & Flash, I can say you're very much in the minority among CZcams reviewers (those that are reputable imo) with your take on those figs. - but opinions vary......She'll look great on the Mafex Batpod imo (much better than any of TDK versions) with my other AY DC figs. & the AY AK Batman coming later this year (the prototype of which looks fantastic imo). Also picking up the AY Supergirl (w/heat vision effect) which also looks very cool too imo. I'm really enjoying the AY New 52 Superman & WW & the Flash & hopefully this AY AK Catwoman looks as good in-hand as in the post. Definitely a fan of the imagination, creativity & artwork behind these recent AY issues & hope they keep it going with other new & interesting DC issues. Wish they would not have moved away from their cool comic book based pkg. artwork & window box pkg. though as not a fan of their recent changes in pkg.
I love amazing yamaguchi Catwoman!! The join is PERFECT for pose, feel so dynamic and fun. The best of this DC’s AY line so far is Arkham Knight/Red hood, Deathstroke and Catwoman, as long you buy original you‘ll love it. Your voice sound piss off and annoying. If you don‘t like deathstroke just sell it, there still some colllector hunting for it. 😁 i can‘t wait for AY Batman Arkham.

I think these figures can look really good in some dynamic action poses, even Batman with his nightmare of a cape, unfortunately most people don’t have the time and shelf space for this kind of posing, they are not for everyone, but can be pretty fun, I live my Flash figure from them

Not feeling Batman at all
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Yamaguchis look great when they are posed and with the years they have been working on their regular stance. To me they are the best articulated figures out there. Everyone has their itch. Some may be highly sculpted pieces with ok articulation (like Mcfarlane) or not super sculpted but very articulated (like Yamaguchi).

Yep.. I have to agree with you about the whole Yamaguchi aesthetic.. it compromises the look infavor of the articulation on the extreme degree.. its very tricky to pose them, too.. 😆

I think the anime look makes them unique, but not unique enough for the price point. The upcoming Wonder Woman looks cool though.

I have the AYR Spider-Gwen. The unmasked face is just awful. Her head is also too high up regardless of which face plate you use. Yes, the shoulder joints are ugly. But she's also the only figure I can get into certain poses. I'm very tempted to get the AYR Catwoman on BBTS but she's a bit expensive at $129.99.

I hate to say this, but I agree with you. I’m also a completist and got their 52 Superman. The shiny metallic finish looks nice, the colors are saturated, and they did a good job on his S emblem, but otherwise, I don’t like the way it looks. The limbs and joints look bulky and awkward, and it’s impossible to cover up those joints. But what bothers me the most is the anime-style facial features. Don’t get me wrong, I like anime. Anime faces look good on anime characters, but they don’t suit Batman characters, like you said. People seem to be taking offense to your opinion on this, but if someone went and Americanized an anime character, that would stir up a lot of hatred as well. Something that has always traditionally looked one way should not suddenly be altered to look a completely different way. Then the character is no longer who they started out as.
These AY figures are great for people who are looking for the dynamic poses and don’t mind the exposed joints or how clunky the figures can look at times, but they’re not for everyone. Anyone who hates these figures has the right to do so. I almost bought their Catwoman figure because I really like the character, but I could not get over the anime face. And as for my Superman… well, I expect that someone who loves AY will be able to find him on an auction site very very soon.

The only AY Revoltech figure i own is Wolverine. It has 3 great head sculpts. The remainder of the figure, in my opinion, is sh#t. The joint gaps are absurd. The articulation is very difficult to manipulate. The truth I've spotted in other comments is the crazier the pose the better it looks. Yeah, that's about it. Any normal poses looks ridiculous with the weird proportions &unsightly gaps. One shoulder joint peg easily broke when i tried posing my Wolvie up. That was it for me. It's the first &last AY Revoltech product that i buy.

I only collect 6 inch and only have the "good revoltech" figures you have listed and I really like Red Hood and Harley Quinn. But I passed on Joker, Deathstroke and Batman as they all looked off somehow. I have this Catwoman on preorder and Im looking forward to her. Flash and Reverse Flash are pretty great as I got them recently so I have high hopes for Catwoman as she is a personal favorite character of mine.
I think Revoltech figures are kinda like having an old pair of bagpipes in your house no one knows how to play. You try them one day and of course they sound terrible! You let your bro try and is also terrible. This goes on with every visitor who asks about the bagpipes. Everyone tries but they are aweful. You want to give in and sell the bagpipes! You dont know how much longer you can bare the site of them.
But then one day, out of the blue you get a text. Its your long lost Scotish cousin. And he comes to visit and he seems them and dusts them off like an old friend. Its in that moment you learn, in the right hands, those dusty old bagpipes. The same bagpipes you looked at with distate, now sprig to life and for the 1st time you see it. Those bagpipes can truly make some fine ass music.
I'd say Arkham Knight look good, Catwoman & Harley ok, Batman, Joker, Deathstroke, horrible.

Dude you have a bunch of their old figures. They're way better now. Moon Knight and the Flash are masterpieces. Spiderman and deadpool 2.0s are awesome. Supermand and Thor are great also. The arkham knight batman is gonna be 10/10.

I rarely disagree with your observations, only on taste sometimes, which is fun, explore a different perspective
my main gripe is obviously the shoulder joints, like the comment mentioned, I like priority on articulations,
maybe this is a bit too much for me as well though, the rest seem very good to me
I m also quite difficult on shapes, silouette, I like very slender, and she s a bit strong on tights.
but it s no disaster, just I have a fascination with very skinny shaped women
