I was born and raised here in Eastern North Carolina. My family grew sweet potatoes and tobacco.North Carolina is the number one producer in the nation for sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoe digging just started here about two weeks ago. The workers get paid by how many buckets they fill. Everytime they dump a bucket they get a chip. At the end of the day they add the chips up. That's how they get paid. Fun fact. North Carolina is also the number one producer of tobacco in the nation.

When I was a little boy we grew a couple acres of sweet potatoes every year and harvested them all by hand and middle buster plow. I remember those bushel baskets being heavier than I was and my mom working so hard too. Bless her heart. Life was hard those days.

Gilroy, CA is considered the garlic capital and holds it's festival the last weekend of July.

I've learned how to grow them over the past 3 years. Such a fun crop but they are a lot of work and it took a lot of trial and error for me to get it right. Pro tip: skip the rooting in water step. Grow your slips in potting soil in a warm area (75-80° F) then break the slips off and stick them in a pot with potting soil, in a shaded area, and keep them moist. Then, when they start to thrive, start moving them slowly toward full sun areas until they're strong enough to be in full sun all day. They are a great survival crop.

Oh thank you to the LATINOS !! The US consumers should thank the LAtinos everyday for its veggies and fruits in their table !! And in fact, these workers play vital roles in the U.S. economy in general, erecting American buildings, picking American apples and grapes, and taking care of American babies. Oh, and paying American taxes.
Unfortunately half of the US think that they are criminals, murderers and rapists. We need more videos acknowledging their value to the country.

We had a truck driver come to Lakewood church in houston for some reason he could take his load which was a huge dump type of truck of sweet potatoes further so he asked Pastor John could he drop them off in the parking lot and he said yes we could have them free. just one potatoe was from my finger tips to my elbow long and that was a small one. the people went nuts and were grabbing them from the bottom then someone got smart pushed my small son up to the top of the hill of them and he kept junking them down till he walked down the hill of them to me and I was so scared for him. It was amazing .
