Finally crin revealed he has a hand in both zero - the top two in this list.
Thank you for mentioning the Chu treble… that is essentially a deal breaker for me with Chu, didn’t love it overall… good value, but not for my ears… and ya, 7hz Zero is awesome!!! I really like it, especially for the price…
Just discovered this channel as I am currently browsing through IEM options. Love how concise and straight to the point his reviews are. New subscriber here.
THank you!!
Nice video. The frequency responses are very helpful!Keep putting them !!
thanks man! will do
New to this hobby and it's really getting on me love your work Timmy.. keep up 😊
thanks a lot!!
I just discovered your channel yesterday I am already a fan Your videos are so straight forward and good 👍
This is exactly what I needed! Perfect timing :)
enjoy!!!
Hi!! would just like to say before this gets flooded by all the other comments that I got into IEMs because of you and crinacle!! Used to be a headphone-only dude but now that I've been seeing these cheap IEMs because of your channels I'm slowly getting addicted to IEMs.
I currently have the Chus and THE CRAs and I'm waiting for the Arias in the mail!! ( i also might have gotten the snows cuz I do like an even more airy neutral tuning..kinda like the chus? I know you liked the original aria's more tho from a past video 🤣)
i want to get the blessing 2's so badly but probably when i have more budget in the future haha
Thank you for suggesting such great value IEMs!
Your reviews are AWESOME. Congrats from Brazil!
Thanks man!
I have the top 3 mentioned here and my latest acquisition is the TE x Crinacle Zeros. I do like the Salnotes Zero and Chu too.
What would you describe the difference between ftom TExCrinacle Zero vs 7Hz Zero?
which one for gaming?
This guy just said he owns them and left. No information. Just a flex?
Didn't expect a secret section in the ending song. also didn't expect salnotes coming on top. Great video!
Spoiler! That's what I get for reading the comments before the video was done. 😂
Lol thanks man!
100/100 i appreciate the hell out of this video. i pulled the trigger on the Chu two weeks ago my ears for sure hurt with most media, thanks for pinpointing the reason ha.
My 7Hz Zero arrived yesterday and i was completely blown away. Never expected we can actually get such quality for mere 20 bucks in 2022
for the price it's insane
Did you use it with a dac ?
I wanted to ask a question?...After about 8 months of owning them, did you have any issue's with them?
@@sajula-gy1rh nope. It's still in a pristine condition accompanying my gaming and music listening sessions everyday
@@scarletvan4749 Thanks for the reply...I guess I'll be ordering my pair pretty soon
OMG, that setting made the Zero a bit warmer. Haha. Thank you. Subbing!
Glad you like it!!
Thank you Timmy for the budget video! :3
Anytime!!!
My CCA CRA still manage to keep up with the new kids on the block haha, truly the best beater that I've ever bought.
Thanks! I've been looking at these on a certain site and was overwhelmed with the choice... 😮
Great vid! Maybe you can also do one for bullet style or iems worn straight down! Thank you!
great video man
i'm not really sure how or why, but i absolutely enjoyed this review!! even though it had the same format as others, it just felt really entertaining and just overall more useful. thanks alot!!
Thanks man!
I listen to a shed load of podcasts and audiobooks so the Ola is very interesting to me!
Thank you very much Tim as always, you did it again! hope you doing well 🙋🏻
thanks man!! :D
Which, if any, would you recommend for stage performance with vocals and guitar? Neutral sound and isolation (with foam tips) are important
Thanks for the comparison! So detailed and useful. I just ordered the 7hz Zero and I can't wait to try them out. I like bass but I feel like it's not worth spending an extra $30 on Truthear x Crinacle Zero. I always create my own EQ through AutoEQ anyway
What about the sound quality bro?
I received my Salnotes Zero this week and I would agree that it's exactly what the Chu (which I also have) was purported to be
Hi bro I hv the CHU!
Should I upgrade to zero? Is there any major difference!!🙂
@@ITSME-ys7hb It's a big upgrade, starting with the cable. I'd say go for it.
is it good for gaming does it have a mic ?
@@DTDGamiing Usually this kind of iem doesn't have mic, u might want to buy separate cable that have built in mic. Or buy a cheap clip on mic
@@DTDGamiing if you want mic u can replace with affordable cable like jcally pj2
I'm planning to buy this to replace the headphones that I use on my PC. Most of the time, I play PC games and I also listen to music. I'm not gonna do any heavy audio activities. I have several questions since this is the first IEM that I'll be buying and I hope that you can help me out.
1. Can I/Should I just plug it in my motherboard then use my computer normally or do I have to buy other audio stuff to get the most out of it? I'm asking this because I have seen videos talking about DAC, amp, audio interface, etc. but I don't really know what they do and if they are going to benefit me as a casual user.
2. Do I need to download a software or change any settings in my PC that would "enhance" the quality of this IEM.
3. I haven't seen any reviews about the durability of this product. I have owned many earphones before and they all used to work fine until only one side is functioning. I'm not sure if this is also a common issue in IEM. If this IEM runs into this problem, can I simply buy a replacement cable to fix this issue?
4. If I'm gonna use a cable extender to connect it to my PC, will there be some losses in terms of audio quality?
Thank you very much for your time and attention. Any suggestions and external links regarding my questions are very much appreciated.
Which is better based off sound quality alone between your no 1 and the KZ AS16 pro ...or you like better
just the review that i need. been thinking back and forth whether to get the chu or salnotes zero and decided to go with the salnotes zero. cant wait it to be arrive in couple day 🙂
thanks for review!
How’s the zero now after a month? Is it decent for gaming and is it fatiguing for long listening sessions?
Nice job still waiting for my dual driver thruthear crinacle,i think that dual driver could be the game changer
it is a nice setup for sure!
Thank you Timmy, I'm always looking foward to listen to your opinions :)
thanks man!
@@Gizaudio :)))
Watched this using my 7hz Salnotes Zero. I was thinking maybe Moondrop will release a Chu with removable cable in the future so I didn't buy it. And then came Salnotes Zero. Good things come to those who wait. :)
Well, they just did. It's called Lan.
...and is double the price.
@@Lishtenbird ikr? I heard it's like Salnotes Zero but with better build quality. That price though. I'll pass.
@@masterxiaolin It'll probably get some share for "but I want Moondrop and waifu" reasons, their fanbase was probably the target audience. Otherwise, yeah, in this price region and today, just slightly better build quality and reportedly technicalities is a tough ask.
And i am watching this on moondrop chu 2 and thinking of returning this and buy zero 2
I think bl03 deserves a spot up there personally
Kinda old and many can replace it
"Ive not heard any newer stuff but still delude myself into thinking its competitive"
just got the salnotes zero today
amazing detail and balance
I was thinking maybe the base was a little too low so I tried them with my memory foam tips to see if I could get that extra bass and they got just perfect
Just what I needed brother.
thanks for watching!
As a newbie I usually don't get why Audio reviewers doesn't like to EQ which could make the gear sound so much better but here I'm really thankful to you Timmy for showing us how to EQ the 7hz Zero and making it better sounding. Thanks again Timmy ❤️
for reviewers, i completely get not using eq since they need to evaluate the product as it comes out of the box and try to relay that information to their viewers. however, for the everyone else, eq should be an essential tool. but same confusion here, it baffles me as to why using eq is mostly ignored (and sometimes even rejected) in this hobby.
i started out like that too, not using eq, and i kept trying to find my "perfect" headphone. after buying a few headphones and earphones, modding them and using different tips, i finally thought "this is stupid" since eq could have fixed it. now i eq everything i own and i'm happier with everything i have since i'm able to get them to sound more to my liking
@@carlos2004 agree eq should be normalised and discussed more in the audiophile community. Also reviewers should take eq in consideration even as a side thing showing how to eq different gears to the best output I believe people will really like it.
@@carlos2004 Hello there. Would you mind helping me to these "eq" stuff? I literally only have my phone (Poco F3), Blon bl03 and a laptop, that's it. I dont have amp or dac or any of that. Where should i start? What should i learn about first? Thank you
@@VanDungLe2510 start with the graphic eq's first. a normal 10 or 16 band eq will more than enough to actually be useful.
some phone have a built in 10 band in the settings, but the eq apps are cheap if your phone doesn't have one. personally, i use eqfy and poweramp equalizer; i like both of them.
for pc, i eq the sound outside the pc (with a minidsp) so i can't really recommend from experience, but there's also plenty if you want to look around. i used to use the one from realtek audio manager, and i see equalizer apo recommended a lot (might be a little too much to start off with though).
but simply get a 10 or 16 band eq (5 band is very limiting imo) and start playing around with the sliders. you'll start getting a feel for which band does what. for example, the blon has big, bloated bass, so for that, i lower the bass quite a bit for my prefered listening. so on my eqfy app, it's 32hz/-5, 64hz/-5, 130hz/-3, 270hz/-1 . that gets rid of the amount of bass i don't like.
i follow this process for all my other gear: find what i don't like, and eq it to my liking.
@@carlos2004 Wow, thank you so much. Thanks for the detailed reply :))
What should I buy KZ Dq6s or 7hz Zero ? I'm more on rock metal listening 🙏
Something about the Moondrop Chu: Maybe i just got a faulty pair, but the bass is pretty darn bad. When i was mixing music the last weeks, i thought, lets test out the Chu and master for them.
And daym, they did distort the bass, and not by a little.
As soon as the bass went to the front of the mix what once was a sine wave almost sounded like a distorted sawtooth. Afterwards I listend to a few more bass heavy tracks and if you don't know what the original sounds like (since nobody uses a sine bass upfront) you may think its fine. But if you know how the bass actually sounds like, you realize the distortion. Mid and top-end is fine tho.
I think you got a faulty pair.
I myself use the Chus on a daily basis and the bass is light, but very tight.
Would you say this beats out the KZ ZSN pro X? Mine just gave up the ghost after nearly 10 months. The connector to the wire broke on the IEM itself.
I used this as a guide for what to put on my holiday gift exchange list ($25) . Thanks!
this could be a great start!
I loved the video man! I am thinking of buying the truthear zero because I simply have a hard time finding store that sell to my country as I live pretty isolated in a third world country, the 7h has free shipping to where I live so it's a nice deal for me.
Which one is good for gaming?
Hey guys on the comments, a question: I have small/sensitive "conchas" (the area outside the canal where the IEM's body sits after inserted), so I can't stand pokey things there. Which one of the Zero's is the most comfortable/smallest? The Chu looks like it's probably the smallest one, but I would like to be able to customize the cable eventually.
Is it worth buying, coming from BLON 03.
What performs great? Moondrop Aria or AirPods pro?
Hey man, you have quite the collection. I have a question. I play in a band on the weekend. We use In ear monitors. I'm looking to block out as much outside noise as possible as we normally play quite close to the back of the speakers as its usually a small stage. Off the top of your head can you recommend any, I was looking at the KZ ZEX as they look like they go into the ear canal quite a bit. Sound profile isn't as important for me as I can EQ just looking for the best noise isolating set! Thank you!
What would you say is the two best options for gaming both casual (story) oriented games and competitive (fps) footstep and sound cue heavy oriented games ?
Any suggestion for gaming IEM?
Nice video Timmy, I have the chu but don’t like the spring tips. And got chrin’s zero coming in the mail. The end did seem a “bit too long” lol. Have a good one man
lol!
I caught your secret section! Thanks for the tip (and comparisons)! Do you have an EQ app rec for Android? And if I like the Koss Porta Pro sound will I like the 7hz Salnotes Zero? Thank you in advance!
I normally don't EQ, but when I do I just use the built in EQ.
I am new in this: What should I choose
1. Salnotes Zero
2. Tangzu Man'er S.G ?
The only reason I didn't end up buying 7hz Zero, is because it don't have mic :( I bought Chu instead, but hey they're the same after all right?
I have two issues with the Chu but I believe only one will matter to most people in here.
I usually buy my IEMs with the mic included since I'm always on the go and TWS are actually a pain to use especially when near any Wi-Fi router and also sound quality isn't as good as wired ones. Anyway, the first issue I experienced with the Chus was because it didn't have a detachable cable, I would get this annoying buzzing sound that would sometimes go away but usually was always there. I found out it was most likely because the wire for the mic was possibly grounded or some sort. In any case, I usually do not mind this as the music pretty much drowns it out but when I listen to ASMR, it is annoying.
Second and most likely the one people would be more interested in, especially for those who are in tropical countries, is that the Chus (at least my pair is) are very susceptible to the moisture problem almost every budget Moondrop IEMs have. I don't quite remember if the Starfields suffered the same thing but the Aria sure as heck does as well! I pretty much stopped using both my Chus and Arias because of this exact problem. Which pains me since the Arias are my most favorite IEM I ever had.
But anyway, that's the main thing you should worry about if you're planning to get the Chus. So if you don't want to deal with it but still want to get that Moondrop tuning, I'd suggest getting the KATO instead. Or the Quarks, if you really are tight on budget but wanna try out how Moondrop could sound like. They surprisingly don't suffer from the moisture thing.
Quarks is only grills i think, the other moondrop IEMs have filters which get blocked with moisture or ear wax.
which of these would be the go-to move for movies and immersion?
What performs great? Moondrop Aria or kz 10s pro?
Now, hopefully we get a review on the Tanchjim Zero and Blon Z200 soon
hopefully soon too!
Crinacle zero arrived yesterday, first iem experience and they are awesome, I think its a good starting point to compare other things
Funny how technically this can apply to the 7hz zero now
really loved the salnotes zero
is the zero suitable for gaming(footsteps, csgo)?
7hz zero in the eq rating got a b+ rating, and here I see such a picture that shuoer s12 got b+, does that mean they are plus or minus on the same level?
Hello and thanks for the video!
I'm new to the hobby and I was thinking about buying one of the two "zeros", so this video is really useful for me.
I think a would prefer the truthear for the tuning, but from the technical point of view are they the same or one is better than the other?
Owner of both
Technicalities wise, I'd like to think the TruZero is the better of the two, but I don't think there much of a difference between the two of them
The TruZero has better bass texture compared to the SalZero IMO, but tuning wise, the both of them are relatively different
I reach for the TruZero for outdoor use (bass gets cut in an outdoor environment by noise) and I use either or depending on my mood/want out of my music library
@@randomdrifter thank you 😉
I'm watching your channel & want to buy one but confused please help
cca pla 13 vs kz zs10 pro 2 vs pro x ? or if u can suggest any better, i like to listen all type of music
i have redmi k50i which have headphone jack with high-impedance DAC should i still need a dac ?
I just ordered Salnote ZERO and I can't wait to try it!
How u liking it?
Do you like them?
I am new in the IEM game, and I want to buy the 7hz salnotes zero. My question: Is it bluetooth/wireless, or is it cable only?
I just might get the Ola purely for listening to Adele. Easy on Me is so so good.
Not sure I'm misunderstanding something. But my 7hz Zero sounds bad compared to Fiil 1 pro. It sound super tinny. Everything is super clear, but gratingly shrill. There isn't any fullness, or "thud" when closing a door or something.
Not sure what I expected. I guess I thought it would be good
Awesome video Timmy! I have a question, would you test Campfire Andromeda? and what do you think about the "holographic" sense that some reviewers point out in Endgame kind of Iems?
I have the Andro 2020 and I personally love them, they are in all sense of the word, my endgame for iems, I don't see myself ever really needing to purchase something that surpases them as they do the key things I look for and very well, the Soundstage is very much "out of your head" and very, very airy with a decent sound to the subbass and the low end, granted I did buy mine secondhand cus it was over 60% less than brand new
@@ish_vids How much did you pay for it? It was the 2020 or the 2018 version?
Tin HiFi T3 Plus or 7Hz zero??
Thanks for the video. Question: How do the zeros compare to the tin t2s? I'm looking for an upgrade without spending too much and I was wondering if the zeros would be an improvement from the t2s.
Yes.
Either Zero has more bass and lower mids. Really, the T2 is better for sound stage and sparkle. So, the iems compliment each other.
@@chuckblank9063I appreciate the response, but I already purchased Hexas. Thank you anyways!
What are the best iem under $50 that have a straight down wire and don't go over the ear?
To my ear, 7hz Zero bass is rolled off too much, similar to the Hifiman RE400, so I like the KZ CRN Pro better as it has great bass.
I have a dozen iems, for me it is the mele. It is a mini Clairvoyance. of course the treble quality is no comparison. Had the diako but returned it since the treble was wide and 3d like. Also had the s12 and returned it. Just got the Kai and will be keeping it. Lately the iems seem to have a wide treble note. Not sure what the hell that is cause it is not realistic to music.
I'm new to this whole IEM topic. I prefer in ears for gaming since they're more comfortable and easier to drive with only the 3,5mm port on the controller. I currently try out the Chu. What do you suggest from the five or in general for gaming? Will the 7hz zero be more immersive for the price?
PS: I mainly play Singleplayer Openworldor Metroidvania games.
For listening to music I use my TWS earbuds ( 1more ComfoBuds Pro or the Fiil T1 Lite)
If that means anything...
I understand that truthear zero is better for gaming
The Salnotes Zero is fantastic
hello which iem have similar tuning style as lea? because I kinda confused why you recommend lea on other video but not in this list
Hey, probably a dumb question
Can't you just eq the Chu like the 7hz zero?
I've been using the 1More TripleFi for several years and the cable on my 2nd set is disintegrating (like the first) so I'm in the market for a replacement... After some research, I got both of the Zeroes and the Dioko. I was going to skip the Truthear Zero for the Hexa, but at half the price of Hexa, I'm going for Zero for that rich bass performance. What else should I get if I'm not happy with them? Hexa? Olina? Timeless?
Are you happy with zero and dioko ? Im planning to buy them aswell
Will buy an IEM next month. I'm thinking of either 7hz Zero or Moondrop Quarks. Which one you think is better for rock & metal? :D
7hz
Wondering @Gizaudio, are these 5 iem all better sounding than your previous top 5 last year (mele, t2, t2 plus, heartmirror)
Yes
7Hz Zero vs KZ ZSN pro any thoughts thank you nice video .
If i have the budget, what would be the best upgrade than salnote zero
What is the best IEM under 20$ for FPS Gaming (Pubg mobile), music (EDM) and for comfort?
My Tin T2's cable is getting very dry and a little bit stiff, do you think it worth get another cable under 15$ or just get the Zero?
I already have the Leá's, the T3 plus and the Bl 03, but i really enjoy the tuning of the T2, specially for vocals (they sound so smooth).
just get the zero lol
@@Gizaudio Would it be a real improvement over the Leá's or the T3 plus?
Yeah , Ola was created for some specific users like me , who absolutely love female vocals . Maybe Kato will be the next budget...
I think I'm still going for the truthear zeros because I'm going to use them for games too and I like more bass in my games.👌
true, its just my personal preference, actually earbud sound i was expecting on early development
technically highend too, no complaint
lol at 7:23
but yeah, i feel you. that was the reason i never got the chu and ordered this instead.
Is 7hz zero better than Tin hifi t3 plus?
Thanks for the review. 7hz Zero ordered:)
nice!
Is the zero good with soundstage and footsteps? Im looking for something good for gaming. I think bass is what i want, but footsteps are a must as well as soundstage. What is your oppinion?
fresh reviews newest video
ah, "good" for the price I guess
out of all these which one would you recommend for gaming ? Which has the best imaging and sound in your opinion?
Tough choice, might be the chu
Just a heads up since no reviewer mentions this..
Truthear Zeros can hurt to wear because it has a tall and thick nozzle. I had to return it.
Just not a very comfortable design at all.
What would you say is the beat footstep gaming audio and positioning?
Timmy, for that last part, you have the dB values for the Zero's EQ?
Assuming it's +3dB at 63Hz, +2dB at 125Hz and +3dB at 16KHz?
yes!
@@Gizaudio gotcha, thanks :)
Which should I go with? CCA CRA+ or CCA CRA? Managed to pick up the Plus for 15 USD
Go get CRA it's more sparkling than the + version (more tame bass and treble)
Which has great detail in 5 in video.
What eq did you use for the zeros, ima cop me a pair
What is the app used for the EQ settings at the end of the video?
which is better salnotes zero or kz zsn pro?
the tuning of the zero looks so good but someone I know had it for a week and the left side died, so... on pair with the chu on that as well lol
that sucks, sorry to hear that man
They probably have accumulated moisture in the "paper" filter under the metal mesh. Solution to this is to remove/puncture/loosen up the filter under the mesh. It solved issue with my pair of Chu's. Had a same issue with Kbear Believe and had to switch to metal filters.
Suck the left side, it'll fix it.
most of the reviews on chu and salnote are saying they're just the same, so I'm so surprised on this review, so i know what should i buy
