    Nice job on the plates. Quick question(s) - 1) how did the plates turn out weight-wise? All the same more-or-less? 2) For a 20kg plate, you say 20kg dry concrete. Adding in the re-bar, does that not put you over 20kg? Assume it'd be minimal anyway, I guess.

    • @MattLees-Nunan
      @MattLees-Nunan  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, correct! The re-bar will add about another 500gr to it but not substantial enough to worry over😊

    • @MattLees-Nunan
      @MattLees-Nunan  Před 3 lety

      As long as you're following a ratio of cement, rock and water which is at least 20mpa. Always measure dry weight in the mould because remember water evaporates into a gas which means it weighs nothing!

  • @ellnixuk1
    @ellnixuk1 Před 3 lety +1

    how did you weigh them? scales under the bucket while adding the concrete?

    • @MattLees-Nunan
      @MattLees-Nunan  Před 3 lety +1

      You put the bucket over the scales with dry concrete weight before mixing. Water doesn't add to the weight because it evaporates👍

    Would these fit a standard 1 inch dummbell? I already have dumbbells but just need heavier weights.

    • @MattLees-Nunan

      I don't see why it wouldn't. I assume you mean barbell?

    • @fightermma
      @fightermma Před 3 lety +1

      @@MattLees-Nunan No I mean dumbbells. I have 2x25KG Dumbbells but they become too light after a short period. I end up repping them for 20 plus reps.
      My plan was to create 4x7Kg or 4x10kg weight plates for the dumbbells so Id have heavy enough weight to press/RDL. That way I'll have either either 36.5KG dumbbells or 42.5KG ones.
      It's become very evident that lockdowns will become a reoccurring thing so it seems and I feel it's best for me to create some decent equipment. I'm going to buy tools to help me create an incline/decline bench with a leg curl on it. Then afterwards maybe a cable machine.
      I was also thinking about creating an adjustable barbell and also a pair of adjustable barbell stands to help me do bench press, shoulder press and squats. However due to space constraints may just stick with a bench and a cable machine.
      Honestly the home made stands I've seen 9n CZcams aren't that great. They involve using buckets and don't slide up and down like regular stands.
      How would you go about making wooden barbell stands that you can use for benching/squats that you can adjust by sliding up and down?
      I would use a hole saw for that part of the would you would put the clips into to adjust the height but don't know how I would cut the wood the adjustable part would be sliding up and down in. I assume Id have to cut out a rectangular piece of wood from it's middle but assume that would make the barbell stand weaker.
      I would need something heavy duty that I could use to bench 140kg plus. Sounds like a real stretch to build something like that out of wood for me. Any ideas?
