The reason why the prices are so high is that you are in a vacation area and because the US dollar value is dropping drastically, last year at this time, the US dollar was worth 690 colones, today is is at 538.....that is a 22% drop in value. The country is beautiful though and I hope that you got a chance to visit the Pacific side, including Jaco, Quepos, Manuel Antonio, etc. Pura Vida!
