    Jan Molby was a brilliant player. Totally underrated. Made the game look so simple (It is....) His finest hour the 1986 FA Cup Final (first hearing here of the goal v Man Utd). That meg pass to get the ball through to Ian Rush for the first goal - totally deliberate. Thanks for posting this footage.

    Very Good Player, reads the game so well, seems to make space and time for himself. definitely a big match player FA Cup final 3-1 against Everton. Jan Molby was instrumental in all 3 Liverpool goals. Also has the very uncanny ability of letting the Ball do the work, probably a good thing as he not one the fittest players to ever don a red shirt. A great talent and it was joy to watch him.

    Great player, as a Manchester United fan in the late 80s/early 90s when he wasn't always in the Liverpool first XI I'd have loved to have seen him prised away to Old Trafford! I agree with the chap in the footage who says he was a better player than gazza as well.

      Wow, I never heard that before six years ago. If that was true, then it shows how low Liverpool had sunk at that stage with the ability of players they were getting in the early 2010s. I started going to watch Liverpool when Dalglish assembled that incredible squad in the late 1980s. I loved watching Molby play.

    Jan Molby a true legend. A very gifted and elegant player and very important to the Reds in the 80's. His only problem was that he didn't quite make it on the Danish National Team in the 80's. Only because of the unlucky coincidence that he was on the top at the same time as Michael Laudrup - the king of Danish football and ruler of the Barcelona and Real Madrid great teams.

    • @AC_Milan1899
      @AC_Milan1899 Před 8 lety +1

      I agree, Laudrup is the best player I have ever seen who could make space even with 2 or 3 players on him and then he had the brilliant end product with the devastating through balls. my favorite player of all time.

    • @stechapo9050
      @stechapo9050 Před 2 lety

      Molby chose not to play for his country anymore in late 80's. Can't remember his reason, the Laudrup brothers made same decision altho Brian did play for Denmark after a few years, Molby and M Laudrup never did come 9ut of international retirement.
      Jeez, I think Michael was 21 when he quit international football. He (Michael Laudrup) very nearly became a Liverpool player in mid eighties-- we almost had the greatest Danish footballer ever alongside the second greatest Danish footballer ever, Molby.

    Molby never went Past Player?! :O Have you ever Watched that Goal against Man Utd in 85? He went past three players from the middle of the Park. Absolute Nonsense. If Gazza was so Great how come he never Won the Title with Spurs? It takes more to be a footballer then just Individual Skills. Dwarfs any midfielder ever had? hahaha loool Ian Callaghan Peter Thompson Billy Liddell all as skillfull or more then Gazza. Right Now we have Coutinho and he has the Intelligence Gazza would only Dream of..

    def true comparing Molby and Barnes with Gazza is like Comparing Messi and Xavi with Robben. Do you have any doubt whos better? Robben like Gazza a very gifted player with Terrific Potential but has Problems with his ego or health while players like messi xavi barnes and molby are out of this world

      Jan Molby scored 42 penalties out of 45 taken
      His 3 missed penalties were against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in December 1989 (Dave Beasant).
      Against Sheffield Wednesday at Anfield in January 1986 (Martin Hodge).
      Also against QPR at Anfield in the 1986 in the semi finals of the Milk Cup (Paul Barron)

    really? id say Maradona in his prime was a better player then Barnes but have you seen Barnes play? Have you seen Molby play? thats right you havent you know why? bec Liverpool were not playing in Europe it was as simple as that. The Biggest Tragedy when it comes to Barnes is that he didnt play much for England in 86. If he had it would have been a diff story. He came on the latter stages against Argentina and beat a couple of players to set up the goal for lineker. He should have played more

    • @TheGarageJump
      @TheGarageJump Před rokem

      .....re Barnes....v Argentina 1986 - after the LIneker goal - he put in another great cross for Lineker....I still don't know how Olarticoechea managed to head the ball away from where he was....and btw he did head it......if that goal went in and England then win the game, history changes...I reckon they would have won that World Cup - they had some team.....
