I'm part of the "The Buzzz feels uncomfortable for my hand" gang 🙍🏻
🤚
I love the buzzz but Everyone has their own preference
very true, i thought it was me but then i lost my buzz and picked up a hex. won’t ever get a buzz again just a little too stable for that neutral mid slot for a beginner imo
The kaxe replaced the buzz for me
I bought a ESP Buzzz. Hated it right from the start. Felt horrible in my hand. Oh, and I don't like the Zone either. 🤷♀️
The Innova Roc3. That is great beginner disc. My father got a full flight out of it and he loved what he saw. Grab one in a lighter weight for a beginner and they are gonna have some fun.
Dynamic Discs Truth should have made the list. Straight, easy to throw, and has tons of glide.
The Star Wombat is a great beginner option. (I suggested/voted for the Mako3, but the Wombat might be an even better beginner disc.) All molds in the video are good options.
Love the Origin pretty much flies to where you point it
I need someone to start a movement for people to stop calling the Fuse "flippy". I hate it. It's not "flippy". It's UNDERSTABLE, yet controllable. It's not a FLIPPY disc out of the box unless you throw like 150m/500ft.
I’m a little upset that the Hex was voted in as runner up. It is way more beginner friendly than the Buzzz ever will be. I have thrown both and MUCH prefer the Hex. However a much over looked midrange is the MVP Reactor 5/5/-0.5/1.5 is also a very friendly beginner disc. They also grow as you grow for GREAT shot shapes. I have bagged both for more than 5 years and will continue to bag them both. The Buzz came out of my bag when I found the Reactor.
Hex gain for life
Fission Reactor 155-160 🙌
Yeah, I’m a big hex fan myself. I bag a hex, and it fits the space in my bag a bit better than the buzzz at this point.
A heavier fission reactor (167g) is my favorite midrange. Beautiful straight flights and reliable distance every single shot.
Mine is in neutron plastic and I absolutely love it
Before watching this I'm gonna guess it's Buzzz, Mako3, Fuse, Origin and Hex.
Edit. 4/5 and the fifth was an honorable mention, not bad.
The Discraft Archer and Meteor are great discs for beginners. They're not as popular as the Buzz but more beginner friendly. I have a Mako 3 but I can throw a Roc just as well. I like the feel of a Bead in a Mid-Range disc.
The Hex not making the top 5 is straight robbery
M4 is definitely a must have to practice throwing straight. Handles head winds better than the buzz. Fantastic to understand hyzer and anhyzer angles. 500 plastic lasts forever. Should be on the list before an origin or shark or fuse.
M4 not being in the list of best beginner midranges is criminal. M4, Fuse, Mako3, Hex, and Buzzz SS would probably be my suggestions to new players. Never in a million years would I give a Z Buzzz to a beginner if they were looking for a go-to mid. That's crazy town.
Fission Hex and Fission Reactor is what daughter throws for mids. She crushes the Hex. Buzzz is too big and not enough glide, so the Reactor is her choice.
I agree with all of this for the most part. I would like to add the Buzzz SS as it is my favorite midrange to this day. It teaches a pushing hyzer, hyzer flip straight shot, and turnover as the player grows.
Love the Mako3. Gateway Element also is a great starter mid. For that matter, it’s a great disc for any disc golfer!
can get behind every disc on this list aside from the buzzz. it is a great disc but if you are giving a true beginner a Buzzz and not a Buzzz SS then you are doing them a disservice. Start with a Buzzz SS and when you start turning it over consistently then work in a Buzzz but to start with a buzzz out the gate is not nearly as helpful as any of the other discs on this list, and would probably be better as an honorable mention and not the #1.
^^ this
Tursas not being on this list is odd
I agree it’s probably my favourite approach disc
The new MD1 ouperforms the mako3 imo, and the plastic is also more durable
Switched the the MD1 for this reason, and the star mako I bought had flashing issues. The discmainia MD1 had no issues in any plastic (I have them all)
@@wesmyers6590 yes I bought the new one (is it C-line plastic maybe) one of my favorite discs
Good list, no surprises other than no Tursas. I bag Buzz and Mako3 but one of my absolute favorite midranges is Westside Discs Warship. Gets quite undestable after a heavy use, so usually i have two in bag with a fresh and older one.
Solid list overall but I'd take a old school Roc over a Buzz. Another shout out for the Gateway Element, an easy to throw and straight flying disc with a surprising amount of glide, a trait it shares with the Origin.
Love the video man
Jester Disc Golf Peace Train! Super straight. Hyzer flip. Super easy for a beginner!
Where was the Paradox??
Buzz is only the most famous if you have never heard of the roc
@Luke ratting me out in the intro 😂
also, the discmania tailor is a good beginner overstable mid
Idk, on the buzzz. I throw forehead for the most part and everyone said get a buzzz but it sucked. Zone and cayman for overstable, xxx and banshee for distance, and the kaxe z for utility. Buzzz never felt good and an just anhyzered then buried into the ground. Maybe I’ll come back to it as I improve my backhand but I hate a disc I can only throw one way.
It seems not enough people have tried the paradox out...
Clash disc peach 🍑 is top mid for beginner
Traded my Buzzz for a Cloud Breaker 3. 💪🏻
Love the Mako on the list. I throw the MD1 which is basically a discmania Mako, but the difference in stability between he Mind Bender and other runs is substantial.
Could you expand on this, I find both my MindBenders perfectly neutral stability, green has a touch a fade.
@@prattacaster I have the C-line and S-Line and they seem to have more stability. Not that the Mind Bender is particularly flippy. Might also be higher OAT forgiveness...
@@wesmyers6590 cool, I was looking at getting an MD3, I have the new MD5 and threw a fairly beat in C line MD3 yesterday and it sits so well between the 1&5. Really solid line up
love that TSA makes it in, but the hidden gem thats still a bit new for sure is the mana. Started out as a nice straight flyer, now that I've hit around 200-225ft its on the understable side, sometimes with an ever so slight fade back but not too often hard turn. Maybe was just nervous for my first sanctioned tournament or the wind or something, but the mana outperformed my current go to midrange the Crave that day so the love for it came back.
Geez...... you had me until you said Buzzzzzzzzz! 😅 It was like watching a great movie, with a horrible ending.
MAKO3 is a great beginner disc. I recently bought one for a friend of mine that wants to get into the sport. I think he'll do fine with the mako
KC Pro Roc changed my game. Amazing glide, reliable fade, and much easier to throw than a Mako3.
The A3 is my fave forhand midrange. Got 500 plastic
I personally bag a big z buzzz, lat 64 fuse and claymore, and a westside tursas. I lost my dx roc a few weeks ago in a pond unfortunately. I’ll eventually get a new one.
I’m also interested in getting a star mako 3. This was a great list but I feel like the buzzz isn’t necessarily beginner friendly, and that it overshadows the meteor which is a better choice for low arm speed.
Having thrown most of these, I feel the RPM Piwakawaka is a cut above as far as beginner friendly discs go. I honestly didn't care for it at first but that was mainly cuz I was overpowering it.
Once I found it's sweet spot, it's definitely grown on me quite a bit.
In a tailwind, you can really rip on it, and it glides and bombs with the best of them. Holds any line, near effortless Hyzer flips. Cosmic plastic feels great and is durable. Looks and feels much like Proton.
Currently bag it and the Mako3 for anhyzers and turnovers. The Piwakawaka is more domey and the Mako3 is board flat. My Star Mako3 has a paper thin flight plate which I do not vibe on too well. Feels too flimsy and floppy for my taste. Don't know if that's normal for the disc, but because of that I tend to gravitate towards the Piwaka more often.
Threw a few Buzz' and honestly could not see what the big deal was about it. It's just a disc. A very mediocre feeling and flying disc. Tried and tried to find its mythical superpowers but it just never made my bag.
There are def better discs than the Buzz. The Hex is definitely one of them.
The Buzz is over hyped imo. But then, that's just MY opinion.
The way I see it, if a disc works for you, no matter what it is, or how good or bad anyone talks about it, you bag it.
The buzzz isn't as stable if you pick the right plastic. Throwing that cryztal sprakle plastic is way overstable. Throw an ESP buzzz or Big Z buzzz and it turns all day
I started with higher speed discs as a beginner. The Valkyrie has always been my go-to. Recently picked up a mako and I hate it. I'd rather throw the judge at midrange.
I still bag the shark and the fuse from my starter packs. Great discs.
How is the SOL not on here. It is seriously one of the easier disc to throw.
mind bender? why is it not the list?
I’m a beginner (5 rounds in) and got the Buzz as a starter mid range based on recommendations. For some reason, it’s my worst disc by far. I’m far better with my approach/putter (roach in dx) and driver (tee bird dx). More so than any other disc in my bag, I get a short flight with tons of fade. I wonder if something like the shark or mako might be better for me as they are more under stable
Fuse into the drink hahahaha
Where it was destined to be
Buzzz SS go to midrange, although I do miss my lost fuse..rip good buddy
Uplink?!
I bag a Origin, Lobster, Mustang, Bobcat !
How can you say the Buzz is more over stable than the Shark? Amazing!
Until the Shark hits 2 trees :)
Isn't the Buzzz more stable than the Shark brand new?
@@FizzyP check the flight numbers. Which has the most fade? Of yeah, the Shark.
MD1
Hopefully the list isn't just Buzzz, Buzzz, Buzzz ;)
I mean… that wouldn’t wrong.
Welllllll….
Wombat3 ? And Westside Warship?
Great mids for beginners
Everyone should have a Buzzz. Until they learn how to throw and switch to Rocs.
The Cobra is way better for players of all levels over the Shark imo. It is the original neutral flying midrange, everything that came after is at least partially based on the Cobra’s design. (Buzzz is just a Cobra copy tbh) Ignore the flight numbers and throw them in all plastic types you can get a lot out of them even at the pro level, it’s a shame so many pros just go the “beatup Roc” route
I have...Shark, Fuse, Mako3, Truth
Where’s the Frisbee Club Buzzz SS peps at?!?!?
Buzz SS, Mana, or Echo are all better for beginners than every disc on this list besides the Fuse
DX stingray?
Got a pizza throwjoes pizza dyed toro. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I perfer the Discraft Buzzz Pro D.
Seriously people voted for the Hex as a beginner disc? 😆😂🤣 That is laughable.
The Buzzz does have the best hand feel for a midrange, great point lol!
The Buzzz is great but it's not really a beginner disc. People probably think I'm insane for saying that because it's a "straight shooter", but it really isn't. If you can throw very nose down (beginners can't do this) and have enough power to throw it 300' (beginners can't do this either) then it's spectacular. If you can't, it's nothing special. It's a disc thta's going to fly relatively straight under a wide range of circumstances and then finish with an oddly aggressive hook-up. That's fine, but a beginner isn't going to do anything remarkable with that. A beginner is way better with a disc like the Mako3 or Origin where a sloppy, low power, slightly nose up shot (beginners are great at this) still results in straight floaty flight with a putter-like finish. Before anyone gets grumpy because they think I'm a hater, I bag both the Buzzz and the Mako3.
Göte Gang represent.
cant believe no one throws a warship, just me and mattyO i guess
100th like 💯
how many aces do you guys have
More than a few but less than a lot
Foot fault
You are forgetting the Lone Star Ranger (5/5/-1/1) its really a grat disc. Even for experienced players.
I kinda regret trading you that pink fuse @reid
Ain’t it a beaut?
You guys STILL haven't hit 30k? Haven't you been trying to give that bag away since October last year?
No way the buzzz is on this list, no one throws it, worse than the groove
Edit: damn the buzzz wins again
no one throws it and yet it's in the bag of half of the top Discraft pros lmao. The issue is that it's kind of not beginner friendly
@@DrRocket8775 I totally agree. It is not beginner friendly. So why is it touted as a beginner disc literally everywhere? Just marketing? I don't get it.
@@FizzyP Part of it is probably availability -- your local brick and mortar store that sells discs has a Buzzz but might not have a Meteor, or your local course regular is likely to give a beat up Buzzz to a beginner. Part of it is also probably that sometimes people think it's good to start with regular stable stuff rather than understable stuff since understable discs can impart some bad habits. I don't think it's beginner unfriendly, especially in Pro D or Jawbreaker, but we all know Buzzz's aren't -1|1 for beginners. They're closer to 0|1.5 to 2.
No crave on the list....
6.5 speed - more of a fairway driver, not a true mid.
Warship is the best mid
This man knows what’s up.
Berry lame. Not great and overrated. Warship is money. Don’t sleep on the Warship! The Buzzz always sets the staple and standard for a mid.
I’ve been messing with the Berry lately, and I found it to be excellent!
The Cobra is the best. Y'all are just blind
