- NATO member Poland says a Russian cruise missile briefly violated its airspace on Sunday morning. Warsaw summoned officials from the Russian embassy to demand an explanation.
Poland said the missile entered its territory as it was firing at targets in western Ukraine. The city of Lviv, close to the Polish border, came under heavy attack. Explosions also rocked the Ukrainian capital. Officials say air defenses shot down roughly a dozen missiles in and around Kyiv. Residents were told to remain in shelters.
Poland says it would have shot down the Russian missile that breached its airspace if there had been any indication that it was heading towards a target in Poland.

It should not be acceptable to allow Russia to overfly ANY part of Poland for ANY reason at all, but especially if it is doing so intentionally to avoid Ukrainian air defences.

The missile was flying in Poland for 39 sec and incurred up to 2 km. Given assumed speeds of missiles, it was vectored mostly parallel to the border. This is how targeting conclusions were made and no counter-measure was taken. Still, vigilance in that short time period is paramount because the missile could be following a deliberately misleading track.
And they keep saying that war in Ukraine is not our business... Now you see why Poland feels unsafe.

Cruise missiles do not fly in a direct course towards the target but instead fly many curves to avoid the known air defense systems. The Russians use GLONAS for this purpose. Since they probably don't fly accurately, they flew a circle over Poland. That’s what I assume. Or it was on purpose 🤷🏻♂️

They said they were tracking around 10 missiles flying towards Lviv and determined none of them targeting Polish land. So they just decided to let the missile do its job and hit Lviv LMAO. They were tracking it even inside Ukraine that's how they knew where it will hit so that means they were tracking it for a long time and 39 second is just the time spent inside Polish territory. LOL

Within those 39 seconds, Polish air defense didn't have tine to acquire target acquisition in time before the missile crossed back into Ukrainian air space. If they fired, it could have missed altogether and fell into some populated area.

You could conclude this from the video itself ...they tracked up to 12 objects most of them were not even close to the polish border.

Not shutting down the missiles invading the Polish airspace was a huge mistake. Russia is probably testing Polish defenses and might push the boundaries further in the future. Shutting down the missiles would have been a legitimate action from Poland. The question about time and distance the missile was in Polish airspace is irrelevant. It was a violation of international law and Polish national security.

Cruise missiles can travel long distances. It was most probably launched from Belarus. It was going towards Lviv in western Ukraine.
