In the show, the kid is being violent and lashing out-he kicks the adult who slaps him. He didn’t “deserve” to be slapped, but there should be some leniency for the man. Instead, they jump to conclusions and assume that’s just the way he is and he must hit his wife and kids. That’s a despicable reaction!

Yeah, I do think there's a fine line there, but this is very controversial. I mean, physically disciplining children isn't as black & white as people like to say it is.
That being said, when you consider the kid could've hurt the other kids by swinging that big bat around, and then kicking the guy telling him to stop, I do think there needs to be punishment there, and I can't remember exactly how the series ended, but IMO, the parents of that child deserved punishment, too. Their child is their responsibility, and if other kids had gotten hurt, that would've been bad.

The child should have been taught proper respect. You can't let kids do whatever they want to do. It has be boundaries. You have to explain what is acceptable and what is not acceptable

I love Zachary Quinto and half the American cast but why do Americans have to adapt everything? Why can't they accept this as an Australian drama? Why make their own? Same with British shows. You don't see the British version of Desperate Housewives on ITV. Can they not appreciate a great piece of television without it having an American stamp on it??

It 100% is okay to correct a child no matter who they belong to if their behavior is harmful or disruptive to others. It is also 100% okay to discipline someone else’s child if they are in your care.
However, using corporal punishment on someone else’s child is not okay.

+David Smith My parents used to threaten me with violence as a kid well up into my adulthood. I've been slapped in the face, and had things thrown at me. It was over small things such as getting a haircut I'm 27 and I have PTSD as a result. I still fear my dad, but I don't respect him. Some people think that fear and respect comes hand-and-hand, but it doesn't. Because of the way my parents treated me growing up, not only do I have PTSD, but I've always had difficulties with authority figures, which is one of the reasons why I can't keep a job. I've been to therapists about this, but it didn't work. I'm now on a 2-year waiting list to see another therapist.

Australia also had a successful gun ban in 96 that stopped all mass shootings and drove gun deaths and suicides down by like 80 percent. We have so much to learn in the USA. (see jon stewart and jon olivers Doc on the gun ban)

Yea, Bill Murray (Meatballs -stripes-snl) is a great example of what is good here, but I can't think of anyone that is close to his talent or matches him. Certainly not Seinfeld. For the most part we are pretty shallow, dumbed-down, and apparently really like it this way. A good example would be the majority of the comments on the Slap series along with it's American actors apologizing to save face.

It should be okay to discipline other’s kids. It would make parenting so much easier.
If the parent does not like the discipline then they can just tell them to stop.
And no I don’t mean discipline as a code word for hitting. I mean telling them off etc.

It wasn't about him. Have you ever dealt with a kid that was trying to hurt your child with a weapon? Then the kid kicks the guy on top of it. I have been it that situation. My cousin married a guy with horrible children. His little boy hurt my younger daughter with a toy. Hurt her pretty good too. They didn't do anything so I got in their boys face and he spit at me. I pushed him down pretty hard. Got my kids and rolled out. That was the last time I ever brought my kids over there. I can't put them in danger. I defended my daughter.

@@sonyfusion1994 it wasn't about being tough. Do you have a daughter? I seriously doubt it or you would get it. It's not like having a wife or girlfriend. When you have a daughter your instincts kick in to protect her. And I must not have been wrong. It's not like they did anything about it. My cousin even told me later she was glad I did it. You don't understand how bad this kid is. Teachers give him snacks and balloons everyday he doesn't hurt someone at school. I'm not making this up. Including the teacher which he has chocked. So tell me, what would you do if a child grabbed your daughter by the throat and wouldn't let go? He never did that to my kids because they don't go there anymore. But he has done that to adults and other children. So tell me, pretend your daughter is getting choked by this kid and isn't letting go. What are uou going to do if his parents do notning?????????? I guess your daughter dies since you think I'm wrong. Right?
