- Encountered by observing Ichthyoplankton using fishing light in the surface layer.
Ulsan,,Korea,,2023
ca. 6.5mmTL(5mmSL) ,,20231022
+failed in rearing,,
+recognized characters
-D1(dorsal spine part;triggerfish+filefish) absent
-dorsal and anal fin count :uncountable exactly ,,both ca.20-25?
-pectoral fin: ca.10?. transparent,,almost invisible in lateral view
-questionable 'pelvic fin-like bud' on anterior part of abdomen.
-body width : very thick
-tubercle-like scales developed on the head and body.
+which are different from the spinule-like scales of larval-trigger fish.
00:00-00:10 recognized characters shot
00:11-00:22 +comparative material shot,,
,,larval-trigger fish: (possibly) Canthidermis sp. ca.6.5mmTL(4.5mmSL) 20231009
+note: developed D1 ,,,spinule-like scales developed.
00:23-00:39 lateral view +black background
00:40-00:51 lateral view +white background
00:52-01:19 dorso-lateral view
01:20-01:49 dorsal view
+my tentative conclusion
-not a triggerfish ,,all known larval-triggerfish(in this stage),,clearly developed D1(dorsal spine part)
-not a puffer fish (with question),, (+D/A base length & count,,+pelvic bud)
-similar to some 'Group C genera (sensu Hutchins, 1988)'s laval-filefish,,(D1 undeveloped stage)
,,,,ex)Brachaluteres sp. ,,Paraluteres prionurus,,,
,,but in this case,, also 'pelvic bud' remains with question,,
+any identification suggest will be appreciated(in english,japanese,korean)
Very neat!
