And she has never stopped working on her technique. Actually, she has never stopped having vocal lessons. That's why she's getting better and better. Before, her technique was raw, yet mastered, but raw. Now, she's like a refined diamant, her technique is far better than before, more healthy ( though her technique was unmatcheable and one of the healthiest in the late 90s). And when you follow her on instagram, she sometimes takes videos of her and her vocal coach working together. Being a Vocal goddess but having her two feet on the ground ! Queen

  • @linmonash1244

Simply beautiful. Lara's colors - transitions - subtlety and expressive nuance - embodiment of the story within each song - each note - each breath - her gestures and incredible stage presence are today being described worldwide as a 'Professional Singers' Master Class'.
We can see & hear why.
If you haven't already - please react to her Je Taime - in Paris 2001. It's phenomenal.
Like you, I've been amazed (and dismayed) at how long it's taken me / us to 'find' her.
It seems bizarre that we would discover her via Dimash and not the other way around, but I guess that's also the nature of UTube today. Since then I've heard a little of her backstory and it's quite heartbreaking.
Her mother was from Sicily and her father Belgian and she lived in Italy until age 6. She also lived in Belgium, and for a long time in Canada as well as France. I believe she has a home base now in Sicily once more - where she spends as much time as she can.
It seems she's had several setbacks at various peak times through no doing of her own. Her 'crime' if anything was to be simply Too Good! 20+ years ago there was also a lot of prejudice in France against French-Canadians and I wonder whether this may have had some part to play.
Some of these setbacks were created many years back by vicious vindictive and misogynistic music critics that made up undermining stories which took off - I believe originally in France - and developed a life of their own. Lara herself describes being bewildered and very distressed by these events and I think it took a huge toll on her confidence. Part of that nastiness were comparisons between her and Celine -who was already well established and much admired in France, and falsehoods and a false competition were promulgated about /between the two singers. Blatant lies were attributed to Lara - who has always maintained she has enormous respect for Celine; citing her as one of her early inspirations. But Celine's fans turned against Lara viciously - both in Canada and in France.
As a consequence; Lara withdrew from performing in France for some time - concentrating her career in other parts of Europe including Eastern Europe, and at this time did a lot of work with the Russian Composer; Igor Krutoy. (here is the Dimash link)
Because of this sad history - you will find Lara's fans 'arcing up' on her behalf if there is any comparison between her and Celine.
Personally I don't think there is ANY comparison. I very much admire Celine - but I am in awe of Lara's talent. She is much loved by her many thousands of fans and I have become a huge one of these.
I am so thrilled for her that stunning voice, her talent, her artistry, is experiencing this new surge of recognition .
    Cheers,
    L

Lara honed her singing style (professional, as of course she sang during her studies in Belgium) in Montreal, were she couldn't possibly not be hearing Céline on every radio station and TV channel, but I'm sure she was just as much influenced by other tremendous singers at the time, Ginette Reno, Diane Dufresne, Marjo, Nanette Workman, to name a few (and on the English side Leonard Cohen, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, and possibly even that other totally multilingual and very special phenomenon, Llhasa de Sela)
But her style is her own, yes, naturally, influenced by others, but that is inevitable. Interestingly they both competed in Eurovision 1988, before Lara moved to Canada, and Céline won while Lara came in 4th. So they were very much aware of each other from the beginning of their careers.

Che lei sia Lara Fabian e sia meravigliosa è un fatto che alcune sue sfumature della sua splendida voce assomiglino alla vecchia Celine Dion è un altro fatto..

her father is Belgian and mother is from Italy and she spent her childhood in Italy. Though she moved to Canada ages ago and sang more in French and English than Italian. and Celine Dion actually became more famous when she started copying the style of Lara Fabian. Lara Fabian is much much better in the terms of voice control and tone.

Tonigth in a interview with Lara in Montreal, she said she live 6 years in Sicilia with her grandmother. Please, I like you listen to Adagio by Lara, she's the original singer of that song. czcams.com/video/jKtNuLG5jAo/video.html Thank you from Montreal.
