    I'm gonna post this here because I know TT is checking these comments on the hour every hour (sup buddy, lol).
    This isn't 2003 anymore. The stereotype of the shut in gamer with no friends chugging Mountain Dew and Doritos is long gone. No one needs the Amico to save them from the 'evils' of modern video games because those evils do not exist. Kids these days play video games, but they also play sports, hang out with friends and family, etc. Even us adults play games, but we also have family, friends, careers and well adjusted lives, something your condescending ass can't seem to fathom.
    The reason the gaming community has such a negative view on this console is not because they are gatekeeping or they're somehow scared of co-op gaming (which again, is a falsehood in and of itself). The main reason everyone is so down on this console is because it's a $250 piece of crap. The games look like crap, the controller is crap and despite all the false claims, the console is not bringing anything new or exciting to the gaming market.
    Intellivision could have just put out a modern retro console with some pack-in games and sold it to boomers based on nostalgia, but instead TT had to put on his clown shoes and makeup and pretend the Amico is so much more than what it actually is.

      There are loads of interesting comments here and on a smaller channel, self-admitted Intellivision fan cyrus martin. one guy has a webpage with proof of the intense moderation of youtube comments on Tommy's channel. Wouldn't surprise me if TT asks small channels to prune comments, too. In comments, TT is accused of giving lists of people to 'pre-ban' when he does his interviews on small channels, says a guy who showed up at one for the first time, pre-blocked. This is done from fear, if true. I read an accusation that the amico is a retro pi or very close to it, a banana pie. Maybe it wasn't in 2018, but in 2020 this could be possible. To speed production. The 'must be a new release' no ports rule is baby bottom soft, as we knew it would be. The Coleco-retro scam, what was missed is that Mike K had to have known his RetroVGS was fake since he booted it up at the toy show, and before the event. He would blame his engineer as if he was scammed too, but he knew what it was the moment he powered it up the first time.

      Amico games are ps1-ps2 level, but I think I get it for mobile game fans that want to play on a big screen, play against pals at home, with better controllers. this is a nice mobile-console hybrid, but when Team Amico saw the under $200 Switch lite, nail-chewing moment, did anyone there not start drinking or punch a hole in the drywall ? Wealthly moms may not care of its low power and quality, and maybe retro fans will be forgiving. but getting out-priced by the switch lite, that has to have his team dispirited. Nes and Snes mini consoles, outprice it too, and have great controllers. Snes mini games crush what Amico has, TG16 mini as well. Switch has everything and is portable, decent controllers too unlike mobile phones. Switch fixed and stole the market I spoke about in the beginning, which is why we see so many games for the amico already on that platform, too ! If only there was some way to hook a switch up to the big TV, ah it does that. His market is not so huge after all, especially with the higher price.

    An example of a project that's run well during covid would be the Evercade. They experienced a delay, but also sent out a lot of review units to CZcamsrs, and even made a day 1 update to address the criticisms from those reviews. It was run really well all around and the difference to me is that they seemed to actively want to show the product they created off to anyone who will look at it because they're proud of what they've made. It's the exact opposite of the Amico that feels like they are hiding things from consumers.

      @@timf7413 I agree, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. You can have a well run project that's transparent from the start, builds goodwill with potential fans, etc... but if it doesn't deliver or is underwhelming, it's still going to fall flat on it's face. The Amico costs about the same as a Switch Light with a game, so in order for it to succeed they need to come correct and deliver a product that consumer's will view as being better than a Switch at that price point. As it is now, the mobile looking games are turning off the hardcore gamers, and the unfortunate fact that Intellivision as a brand hasn't been relevant in decades means that they will still be viewed as a generic box that costs as much as the name brand one which really positions them poorly in the marketplace. It is cheaper than a regular model Switch, but not by much which is really an issue.

      @@timf7413 Yeah, and there are still some people that are giving them the benefit of the doubt. I guess what I struggle with the most is how they could have built up that goodwill with what they currently have to show. Even if they handled everything really well and a lot of people wanted to see them succeed, or at the very least just trust them, I really don't see a valid business case for a $200+ box that plays games that are either currently available on mobile platforms, or look like they could be on mobile platforms. I guess it's kind of like an Nvidia Shield TV, but that's a niche device that doubles as a streaming box so even that is a little different.

    Tommy bragged of about 50-75 console pre-sales 2 days, after his event. This suggests that sales are small most weeks, that people don't remember intellivision, fear it and the Atari VGS, or they find out that the name and rights were bought out from the founder - not as bad as Colecovision did but the same injury being not the 'real' company. How does he avoid his console being seen as the Family-Rated version of the Atari VGS, a console few think will attract gaming companies more than a year ?A few more questions, where are all the Tommy's interviews by MOM-TUBERS since he said this was Amico's #1 target audience ? What about the convention he was sponsoring for new moms ? I doubt moms care like 30s+ men do, about video games, is why we have zero MOM-Casts with him. Older guys have the interest and spending money, so TT talks to them while denying the retro focus and saying he doesn't care about modern gamers or the switch crowd. Doing mostly small youtube shows tells me the big guys want a reward in exchange for sticking their necks out, after major developers have said 'go away' to Team Amico. at least so far. The project has a make-work effect for TT, he automatically is assigned sound work vs hunting for it, vs maybe pricing and aging out of such work. Will modern companies hire from overseas, or pick younger cheaper sound workers for games.

Hell, even the PS4 and Xbox have a decent amount of family games now too. This system is entering a market that’s already been taken up by other, better systems.

      To be fair, several people who are in their late 40s to early 50s seem to be really excited about the Amico. They are, by their own admission, folks who grew up with an Intelivision in their house. I think THIS is the target demographic (or should be). These folks aren't wearing Tommy's gratis merch, their CZcams channels aren't dedicated primarily to promoting the Amico, and they haven't done any "interviews" with Tommy. I think these folks are for real, genuine, Intellivision fans. That said, these folks are also, from all appearances, a tiny niche of the hobby. I don't think there are enough of them to carry the Amico long term.

      @@TheJuice70 Agreed. As much as I hate Tommy because of his dishonesty (especially when so many of his lies are easily disprovable) and his small army of shill CZcamsrs who exist ONLY to promote the Amico, I do think there is a market for it. The issue I see it that it's just a reeeeeeallly small market. Which might explain why they're pretty much ignoring that market and, instead, trying to lean in hard to "families" and "family gaming" (an ostensibly bigger market).
      The problem with this is that it puts the Amico in direct competition with Nintendo, even if Tommy refuses to admit it (of course the HUGE amount of time he spends trash talking Nintendo proves that he's in competition with them, otherwise he'd have no reason to do such). The Amico will NEVER outsell NIntendo. NEVER. That's absurd. And, yet, Tommy is chasing that market in hopes of achieving that dream, while ignoring the small (but guaranteed) market he CAN capture.
      I think (but, of course I don't have access to the numbers), the profit margins are probably all out of whack on this thing. If they aren't already operating in the red, I suspect that they will be by the time it comes to market. It certainly is 110% more likely that Nintendo will kill the Amico in the short term, than the Amico will kill Ninetendo. While I am cautiously optimistic that the Amico will get made (I don't expect a ZX Spectrum or Coleco Chameleon-level disaster), I also expect it to have a short retail lifespan.

    • @TheJuice70
      @TheJuice70 Před 4 lety +3

      James Hargrove yeah. And again, it’s nothing against the console, I’m sure it’s fine, but when you’re trying to compete in a market where there’s 2 or 3 better options, with better games, bigger companies and proven track records, then your console is just a big. This will be one shelves for 6-8 months, have no traction and will probably die. Market research should’ve been done.

      One of the silver linings of this whole thing is that Tommy had to sell all his comic book and toy collection because of funding issues for the Amico. I mean, he's an adult, so he really shouldn't have had an extensive comic book collection in the first place, I mean he's not a kid. But anyway yeah, he was so proud of his children's comic books and children's toys collection, so the fact he had to sell all of it because he's a terrible businessman, is incredibly satisfying. Like, he spent literally millions leasing an absolutely enormous office that wasn't ever needed because they had fewer than a dozen employees. Yet this office could accommodate hundreds of employees. He fully furnished the place too, buying hundreds of chairs and desks and so on. That's how terrible a businessman he is, he spent all the millions of fundraising money on an office that the company never needed and even if things had gone incredibly well and the console had eventually come out the they STILL would have never needed an office that big (and also it was one of 2 offices they didn't need, so it was doubly idiotic).
      He sold all this stuff, just to try and keep the company afloat, and it was all in vain because the console is literally never gonna come out. He must have genuinely believed it would come out, to sell all his stuff like that. Which is just very sad really. He's that delusional that he really didn't understand why he couldn't get the Amico out.
      But yeah. Ever since hbomberguy's video destruction of Tommy's entire life and career came out, Tommy has been completely absent from the Internet. He has yet to resurface, even to do something as minor as say liking a tweet or something. Which means he definitely watched the whole video, which is funny cos hbomberguy was right when he said Tommy probably searches for his name on Google and CZcams and watches every video anyone ever makes about him, because even in videos about him that have like 50 views in total, he's in the comments section defending himself. So hbomberguy's video, with over 8 million views now, Tommy has definitely watched it.
      And because all his decades of lying have caused his entire career and reputation to be permanently destroyed by hbomberguy, and nobody will ever believe a single word he ever says anymore because he's been proven to be such a pathological liar and narcissist. And so he'll never be respected ever again. He's had a complete mental breakdown because of that video. He doesn't even seem to be doing Video Games Live concerts anymore because of this. So hbomberguy's video has destroyed his entire life and career and reputation.
      So I almost feel sad for him. If it weren't for the fact he scammed people out of literally millions of dollars worth of money. Money that people will never be refunded. People should really research companies and CEOs of kickstarter projects before they donate money to the fundraiser, but even so, the responsibility for all of this is on Tommy's shoulders. He might genuinely be suicidal because of all of this. I don't wish death upon him or anything. But he does need significant amounts of mental healthcare regardless, because he genuinely is a pathological liar, and has narcissistic personality disorder. He lies for absolutely no reason, constantly, he just can't help himself. It's even lies on top of lies, because he always has to one up people. Like he lied for years about being on MTV cribs, when he was never on that show, because he's not famous, he's a nobody. But then when people would interview him and say that he's been on MTV cribs, now all of a sudden he'd say he'd actually been on Cribs "a couple of times". Because one lie isn't enough anymore, he has to one up the person, even when they're complimenting him. That's just fucking weird behaviour. It's pathological lying because there's absolutely no reason to lie like that in that situation. He just does it because he can't help himself.
      Another example is the fact he supposedly has the Guinness world record for person who's on the most video games in a lifetime (he doesn't actually have that record, he was lying, of course, but that's beside the point here). And over the years he'd constantly increase the number of games he supposedly worked on. First it was 250, then eventually 300, then eventually 350, then 400. He couldn't help himself and just had to keep adding to the lie, increasing the number, with no evidence. It's just nuts. He's genuinely severely mentally ill. And again, maybe I'd feel sorry for him if he didn't scam so many vulnerable people, and didn't act racist and homophobic and so on when anybody ever even mildly criticised him.

      @Mann Maniac Nintendo switch gives 2 controllers out of the box ( technically as it can count between 1-2).
      There was an Xbox one bundle that came with 2 controllers. The SNES and Sega mini both came with 2 controllers.
      The 2 controllers thing has been done. The only specific thing the Amico has is the phone app which can give you theoretically infinite controllers ( or as many phones as you can get lol).
      Did the WiiU come with a controller besides the main handheld?

    • @TheCommanderTaco
      @TheCommanderTaco Před 4 lety +1

      @Mann Maniac depends on how the DLC is used. Most games now in days I will admit don't use it correctly, but the purpose of DLC is to add to the game. Currently playing SAO Alicazation and the DLC they are releasing right now is free ( along with game updates they are adding dungeons and even a new character). Then of course they have a season pass which will add two big scenarios after the main game.
      Do game updates count as DLC? Unlike in the past games don't come out in perfect conditions with all the tech involved. Even mobile games have to download updates at times lol.

Everyone working for this company is going to lose their job and there will probably be devs involved that go out of business. I can't help but feel sad about that. The problem with these amico games aren't that the lack cohesion across each other, its that each game on its own lacks any form of cohesion or finesse in style. And when they are then viewed as a group the pattern of assets with little focus being thrown together becomes even more clear.

    As a young guy mid 20's, I've never heard of intellivision. And growing up with Sony,Xbox, Nintendo,GameCube,etc. I can't see anyone my generation and under ever getting into this console. This is definitely a bad investment. Look at who they are up against. If you want to invest in some with a super growth. Look into PC and Microsoft. Avoid nft. Look at the consoles. They are still behind on the consoles compared to pc. I lovey retro consoles but don't invest in some without looking at the whole

    • @maize5
      @maize5 Před 9 měsíci +1

      I'm old enough to have been a kid when they were around, and the only appeal would be a small niche of retro gamers. The only reason for it would be the Intellivision had that very unique controller. I can't remember the game, but there was a dungeon exploring game I seem to remember using them as hot keys for spells and stuff? Some games had an overlay that would go over that numeric pad so you'd know what the buttons did.
      It was really different for a console, and it was never a hugely popular one because I think they only had 10-20% and Atari had the rest. They kinda took off later when they introduced an adapter to play Atari games on it, but the crash was right on their heels.
      Tommy could have spent money to recreate the original controllers to every last detail (except wireless) - maybe, maybe, update or improve a few things. You know, there has to be something that could be improved with forty years of hindsight? Then stick a FPGA in a woodgrain case, pay to "remaster" a couple of the core games, pay to get a couple people from the original team on board, or an original programmer to update their own game... something. Then just stick it in a display quality package and try to avoid the coins as a small group throw a lot of money at you.
      Oh, and have effing online capabilities so that people can get updates, buy new games, whatever. If you want to go crazy, make each one capable of being a basic dev kit so people can make their own little games and share them, only because these systems still have healthy homebrew communities. These old systems ran on slightly different flavours of BASIC, and some even included the BASIC interface so you could code your own programs, so a baby dev kit would just be the updated version. I think Intellivision had a BASIC editor, but no keyboard (a different fiasco).
      That's the thing that kills me about this - there's a blueprint for this kind of thing and it always works when followed. Tommy is literally too stupid to do this the right way. He had to commit fraud because he doesn't actually know anything about video games, business, or interior decorating. He is incapable of ever pulling this off in the same way a quadriplegic simply can't get up and walk a few steps - something fairly simple. Tommy doesn't have the parts necessary to do business the right way.

    UPDATE: XBOX price $300, November 2020 release, further hurts Team Tommy, beat to market, beat to holiday spending season, matched in price to those who can handle no disk player, weaker hardware vs PS5. The Amico team melted down in 2019 at the $200 Switch Lite release... it explained why Tommy went after Nintendo and SONY for allowing sexual and violent themes in 5-10 games... Tommy went 'knives out' : 'they support and promote GRAPE !' without the G... What if the Lite costs $150 in April 2021, or a home console system, no screen, $150 ? More comments from desperation-mode Tommy ? AMICO still have time to buy 20,000 rapberry pies with INTELLIVISION shells, a custom OS, controller and online store, lower the price to $150 ?(JAGUAR SHELLS + Duct tape anyone ?). cheapest xbox will be $300, gamepass nice n cheap... amico may even die on the vine, make the paid up units and wriye it off...Amico needs $500+ consoles with $100 games, high network fees. MSFT + NINTENDO are spiking their boots, ONLY Sony is playing ball.

      @Lassi Kinnunen I 100% agree that this system will most likely flop. When it comes to a console, especially a brand new one, there has to be great games, exclusive or not. After watching the press conference, nothing got me excited. I am curious to what kind of MLB game they maye as well as the Earth Worm Jim. The rest of the games shown have no interest to me, especially with the price tag of the console.
      I still wouldn't put the Amico anywhere near the Chameleon. Mike Kennedy had like 3 guys working on a console. He himself had zero experience in the video game market. The guy started with the God damn shell of an old console and thought he had most of what he needed. I actually attempted to write a book on the subject, so I am well informed on the topics. Mike Kennedy and Chameleon was one of the biggest jokes in vidoe game history.
      When it comes to Tommy, he has like 30 years of video game experience, with a tons of connections. Putting him and Mike Kennedy in the same conversation is not righy

    Shark! Shark! -> stays the same
    Battle Tank -> Tank! Tank!
    Cornhole -> Hole! Hole!
    Astrosmash -> Smash! Smash!
    Evel Knievel -> Elk! Elk!

    Breakout -> Break! Break!
