    It's actually leaking into it in spraying out between the actuator and caliper

      You replaced the caliper with a remanufactured unit and it's leaking around the piston? I'd say they did a crappy job rebuilding it, there's o rings inside that keep the fluid from leaking out. Either the piston is pitted or the o rings are damaged in some way which is leading to your leak, I would definitely remove it and get a new caliper, unless it's leaking from the banjo fitting, it's not your fault, it's the manufacturer. Take it back

      @@ChevyMalibu69 you are 100% right I realize it last night after thinking about it ,the side that's leaking also has a big glob of glue coming out the back side center of the caliper I noticed when I bought it but it looked factory but what it actually was ,was some tried repairing the leak and resold it to me advanced auto in my area who knows how many times they resold it lol I deff know what to look for now when shopping for rear fusion calipers

    I really enjoyed your wonderful job. I got a rear brake malfunction message on my instrument cluster screen because the rear brake cylinder on the driver side seems not to move back and forth even though a motor on the caliper seems working properly. So, I think I need to replace all the rear brake caliper and follow the procedures you instructed. Do I have to deactivate the electronic parking brake prior to the job? Or would disconnection of the battery work? Your advice of expertise would be appreciated.

      Just make sure that the parking brake is off you do not have to disconnect the battery just follow the direction in the video and you'll be fine, thank you for the comment!

      I've never had to put mine on service mode to do brakes on any car never mind my fusion....are you sure everything went back together properly? Did you turn the piston in slowly? Is the fluid low?

    So I've dose this to my 2014 fusion and I got break fluid leaking into the actuator on the driver side was wondering if u may know what this could be from

    What exactly caused it to seize up again?

    • @ChevyMalibu69
      @ChevyMalibu69  Před 3 lety

      Road debris, salt, if the boot gets torn or comes off one side the piston will start to rust and just not be able to move back into the caliper when you're off the brakes

      @@ChevyMalibu69 So you think you damaged the boot? At first I made the mistake of putting it into brake maintenance mode and that locked everything up and it wouldn't budge but the boot looked good. It's always 90% head scratching. I used ceramic blue lube on the slide bolts, is that ok?

      Hi Craig, I have a question, When you replace the rear pads only, Do you need to put the breaks in "Maintenance Mode" and then - Do you close the piston by carefully pushing them in, AND/OR Turn the piston clockwise? Or Do you both?
      I understand putting the vehicle in maintenance mode it allows you to push the pistons in? (regardless whether you push them or turn) - Thanks! Good video.

      @@carlosruvalcaba5258 When I put it into maintenance mode, they wouldn't turn at all. So you could try putting them in maintenance mode and see if they retract. If they do not retract you could see if it is easier to compress them. Either way I'd use the special tool for it that you can buy or you can borrow from Autozone. It does both turning and/or just compressing without turning without putting any pressure on the back of the brake caliper housing like a C-clamp would.

      @@cskye6529 sorry man I had notifications off, no I don't think that I tore the boot I'm usually very careful when turning the piston back in. To be honest I've never heard of maintenance mode, I just work on the brakes the way they are when I pull it into my garage slight downward pressure and turn at the same time, if everything is in good shape it goes right in no issues. About the lube I'm sure it's fine, there are many products out there forthe sliders I use the permatex silicone lube, you can also use dielectric grease....
