That song wasn't her usual kind of music to sing and perform in formal show, but She is being challenged by her band mates to hit and hit higher modulation until she breaks! It was just for gig and fun, but Gigi was a champion in singing contest in ABS-CBN, I think it was season 2. She is a very good singer in her own way and chosen genre.

She was pranked, but this kind of challenge was quite common here in the Philippines. Especially with stand up comedians they will do it like a showdown. They normally use songs like "through the fire" "pangarap ko ang ibigin ka" "love on top"
I thought you said she started with her highest note on D5 and ended on G5, so that's 5 modulators, 6 different keys. I think she sings songs requested live so she seems to be looking at lyrics.

She was performing live with her band and the audience request a song for her on the spot. That time, she actually doesn't know the song too well so she glance at the lyrics while singing. They were kind of laughing because originally, the plan was to sing the chorus twice, one original note and a higher note. Her band decided to push her to the limit. Gigi, the vocalist, just chose to ride and go with the flow with her band.
