- Paths to hell is a miniature game I have been working on for a few years. It's the game I feel that fulfills what I feel other miniature war games fell short on..This video hits on a few ideas and concepts of the Paths to Hell. It also explains where and how I want to go with this rule set in the future if there is enough interests.
Really like the constantly contested initiative, it gives a chance to live the constant back and forth of advantage and the actual back and forth between confidence and caution, between pinned and pushing up, between pouring it on and missing your chance.
I really like it and want to see more, subscribed and ready for more
Pretty cool system that I feel actually demostrates real world situations and actions on a tabletop. Works great at all levels of army size as well. Platoon to squad ,to company ,to battalion size element. I have a video coming out soon on a platoon size game using squads and individual soldiers. This is really when this sytem shines. Ty so much for watching commenting and taking your time to wach this game system in action. Ty
Really some interesting ideas here. This really deserves more attention and support . Great work!
Much appreciated! Ty
This is probably the refrain of many miniature wargamers. Well done.
Couple comments - first, I'd be interested to see this continued development. The linking of morale and initiative seems to work well as a concept, and I think that should continue to be developed. You may want to consider the name choice - Compass Games recently released Paths to Hell, and honestly, it was very difficult to find your series of videos on CZcams, since my searches all ended up on the Compass Games reviews and playthroughs.
Ty for the insite and information , I have taken all said and noted. Thank you for the information. Any ideas for a title would love to hear any of your ideas.
That table looks great
Been playing miniatures wargames for ages. I'm always up for seeing that new system around the corner and would happily support.
Greatly appreciate ty !
Interesting system. Would love to see you do a solo report showing how this would work. Also, I agree with Todd. What a great table!
Ty very much about the table! Working on it and a solo report coming soon.
@@brucefallon Looking forward to it!
I think it’s a great idea. A couple of points. BTW, as a soldier I have been a little frustrated by BA because of these deficiencies that you bring out.
1. I think we have a great system well supported in Bolt Action. I wouldn’t work against it, I would work with it and keep referring back to it.
2. I think there is a big need for a solo system that is widely used and I love the idea of open source and a community that can debate and discuss rules or options as they develop.
3. The BA tournament competitive community is a very different thing from the historical gamer who loves the BA environment but wants something that reflects actual combat, so this reinforces your thoughts.
4. There needs to be a true system to hide units. I am thinking a grid that is keyed to the sides of the board so that as you move units that are hidden you can track where they are moving too. For solo players this might look like chips that represent enemy units until line of sight is achieved where in you pick a card to determine if that unit is enemy armor, artillery, infantry, etc. In other words, all we know is that something is moving, but until line of sight is achieved, we have no idea what it is.
5. I would really work to making all tables and turn resolution capable of fitting onto a single or normal more than two pages. Most of this would be turn resolution order of actions. It’s not terribly hard to resolve the penetration and damage in the BA system.
6. The biggest strength is the initiative aspect. I am thinking of tank duels as you described. A good crew can reload and shoot, limiting a BA game to six rounds fired (one per turn) does not reflect the reality of say a place like 73 Easting or perhaps better yet, The 3:1 Sherman/Tiger sequence of Fury. Your system can resolve that.
7.I love the fact that it is not scale dependent and can help players with fewer physical units, fight larger battles…or allow 28mm BA players to scale to larger battles and smaller scales with a simple table change for ranges and movement distances.
I would be happy to help you in any way that I can and test the system whenever you want input. Im one of those Isolated BA players who needs a good solo system. Great innovation.
I have to say the best response and comment I have ever recieved. Ty so much for all the input, ideas and your thought. Its truly is appreciated, and all has been heard. I will for sure keep you in mine for the help part believe you could be a valuable resource. Going to work on the solo part grid you speak of ,I have a few ideas i believe will work with your idea. Thanks again
@@2ManyHobbies16 Please do, I have been thinking of how I would work up a solo system as well. So I am eager to hear what you come up with. The only time I get to play against people is in tournaments because Im pretty isolated from other gamers where I live.
Hey there from new zealand! Watched your video through really cool concepts in here. The passing initiative is similar to warhammer Kill team thats what i like the faster more active pace. I love ww2 theatre very keen to play and learn your system! Well done man!
Hello new Zealand from New York, ty for checking it out appreciate it. Not played war hammer to much like a few times years ago. I like the fast pace as well and just like in real situations a unit would just not sit there and just absolutely do nothing but recieve damage. Plus boring for the other player just watching and waiting. Other cool part this system works great for solo play as well. Thanks again.
Great looking table setup. Great work on the rules, it is like combining Bolt Action and Crossfire(Conliffe). I really like the initiative switching aspect.
Kinda a little from everything that works the best and combined .. and then simplified you can say!!! Appreciate you stopping in and watching. TY
Love the idea of having a solo play concept. And would like a further in depth overview of it because either I missed how it works or just didn’t fully understand it when it was explained.
I have a video of a full turn and another on how after the turn cleanup and rally phase on the channel. I will see if I can send a link straight to you in this message. If not check out the channel and believe your questions and example of play.

There is one link to a video with example of play in depth!
Hope that helps you and ty and appreciate you taking your time to check things out
i would love to see this fully developed. good luck sir.
Planning a battle report soon showing how everything works!! Ty and appreciate you watching and your time

@@2ManyHobbies16 you are welcome, i design games and love to see others do the same and hear your thoughts as to the why and how. very cool. keep going!
Looks awesome. Would love to see a full battle report from pre- to post-game. Was wondering is there a penalty for attempting but failing to steal the initiative?
Hey buddy, hope all is well. To answer your question yes if failed to steal the initiative, not observed, or observed and no hits or kills. The unit trying to this action would be done for this turn and no further actions allowed this turn. If observed and a hit or kill occurs the iniative is the other Armies until a motivation check is failed.
My suggestion for a working title "Roads to Glory, Paths to Hell"
That's a crossroads soldiers have always stood at
I like it, not bad at all!!!
So cool , I love wargaming but none of my freinds are into it , love the solo play
Honestly the coolest part of the game. I have same problem. The cool part is even if as the other player want to do something always doesnt go as plan, so both sides stradegy is constantly changing. If your honest with the d6 roll you will have a great game and every time a different game. Another great part of the solo play it is a super simple easy system that works!!
You should make some add on rule packs thats increase detail of certain units. Like smgs or each individual tanks front armor and guns. Just a thought.
10/10 - would play.
I’m interested in this system and would happily back it
Will this only be about americans pushing through german guys? Is there potential in developement? Why would someone decide to spend his money on this rather than Warhammer?
It can be any theater of your liking and any army. Just what I have setup right now for an example of the game
I think you missed the point he was trying to convey. Hes offering a ruleset you can use on pretty much any model you want but based on a warzone scenario. You could likely take what hes offering and adapt it to a modern combat tabletop. The narrative would be your own but the rules give you the tools to play.
Ty for explaining that my friend greatly appreciate that!!!
