Been a follower for years and love your content. However, timestamps would be helpful for these longer videos.
Wow as someone with aggressively dry hair, I've always tended to save on shampoo and splurge on conditioner... Now I'm questioning everything.
I'd love a video on how to avoid the 'wet look' after styling. I have fine hair and it takes literally over a day to stop looking dark and wet, even with just using a super light gel. don't want to look 2000 and late! thanks girls!
I have avoided that by applying a hair oil to break the cast once my hair is completely dry. The oil helps break the crunch up and fluff the hair out a bit.
I use a hair oil and scrunch out the crunch. You have to break the cast and then your hair will become more fluffy and lighter.
I’ll definitely give it a try! I would have thought oil would weigh down the hair so it’s definitely something I wouldnt have thought of. Any oils or products you recommend? Thank you!!
@@hollydefnet4705 Verb Ghost Oil! It's amazing and doesn't weigh the hair down at all. I apply it multiple days in a row and never get a greasy/oil feeling in my hair and I only wash every 3-4 days.
@@spacecase8791 I will go order some right now! Thank you, I appreciate the help!

I love you for doing this
I feel like I was watching siblings/cousins shooting a show with a VHS camcorder. Ya know, just pretending to have a show which we know our parents and aunts and uncles will humor us at Thanksgiving and watch. I had flashbacks of me and my sisters and I absolutely loved every second of it! We all had a role! 🤣
This was giving major 90's kid vibes.
Amanda was absolutely hilarious!! Great idea!
it was like pulling teeth to get her up there but it was absolutely essential to have her LOL
@@ManesByMell it looked that way from the bloopers haha but you guys pulled it off! Random question - I've been seeing a big trend about people doing gel-only wash and gos and skipping cream stylers altogether. Is that something you'd be interested in doing a video on? Would really love your take on it.
😂😂😂
Seems like everyone had fun making this one, which makes it even more enjoyable for the audience!❤❤❤
Amanda is KILLING me! 😂😂😂
I love it when you bring your family into the videos! Anthony did a great job and Amanda's shots were hilarious.
And my wallet thanks you Mell!
What a fun and unique video format! I was desperately bored and anxious and her hair theory video was on my homepage so I clicked, just to have something in the background while I washed dishes. It was so well-done and her charisma made it such an entertaining video that I subscribed immediately and went on to watch this video. She's definitely what CZcams needs right now. Love the videos!
Exactly my thoughts
I am already a member on your website and enjoying your CZcams channel and your website as well. Happy Easter to you and your family.
You NEVER disappoint, Mell! I am a senior with curly hair. You have taught me so much and finally, my curls are no longer frizzy,, but defined, beautiful! ❤.
I have used nearly all natural remedies, but what worked for my hair fall control was these things. 1 cup slightly hot water to drink as first thing in the morning. Using neem wood comb. Using microfiber towel on head wash day. Some gentle exercises. Using litttleextraa Coconioon anti hair fall kit once or 2 times a week.
Whatever hair routine you used for this wash day, your curls look INCREDIBLE. Even better than usual!
Your brother is so adorable and such a good sport!
As an admitted product junkie, I NEED this video! 😅
This is just adorable! Your sibs are adorable and you are adorable. Not to mention the wonderful information provided in this very well put together video!
I just can't bring myself to spend on a Dyson, is it really worth the splurge or do you have other tools you recommend. Curlsmith have a hairdryer with an enormous diffuser that looks great but I'd love to see your opinions and recommendations for dryers, diffusers at different price points.
Loved the live chat!!! Can we get help with styling greyING curls? Not just grey and not like four grey hairs. I mean I’m literally Rogue. Lol.
It’s a hard topic to find good videos on.
I am so frustrated right now because I was getting (and probably will still get some) highlights and using toners or colored glosses on my hair.
I’ve never been a fan of all over permanent hair color. I did it once years ago and despised having to go in for frequent root touch ups. I’m low maintenance when it comes to color and prefer things that will wash out and grow out/fade nicely.
The last time I had my hair done I asked for a semi permanent strawberry blonde color just before fall. I stressed that I did not want permanent color, I was waiting for more gray hair to come in and I was going to move toward gray blending after that.
The girl used a permanent auburn dye and repeatedly lied about it being permanent.
I had spent years letting my new gray hairs come in and grow.
** She did use a colored gloss on my hair one time after this as a temporary correction because she also didn’t apply the dye evenly. I waited for it to fade and then did a strawberry blonde gloss. The owner of the salon was helping her mix the gloss and kept being very snappy. She said - you keep asking for things that won’t cover your gray hair!!
That’s because I’ve been stressing that I don’t want my gray hair covered. I was growing out a full head of highlights, letting more gray come in and just wanted a hint of color for the fall.
I’m back with my Aveda stylist. She did my hair for a decade but went out of work before the pandemic due to child birth complications (she and the baby are great now). We’re working out a game plan with my hair. I need to go to more of an ashier dark blonde while I grow the remaining permanent dye out. I want to minimize damage in the process.
On top of that I’m trying to get styling with it down pat.
Brush styling is helping with that (I had to keep playing with it) though I can’t do much with the new growth that won’t lay down.
I had to switch to brush styling every section toward my face. I could do a mix before (though admittedly I was lazy with it). Finger rolling/coiling helps too though it time consuming.
It helps tame the gray hairs and work them into curl clumps.
I’ve got to be gentle and add in more moisture where I can while still maintaining balance.
It’s a juggling act.
I have to admit that I did not splurge on my latest hairdryer. I needed one in a hurry and I went and got the least expensive one that had the features I was looking for. It's not perfect, but it's working for me.
Mell, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart that I've found your channel years ago, see you grow and now the website is an absolute blessing. And you're canadian 🙌🏼 My hair has changed so beautifully since i followed your tips! I still have some flat hair issues because i used to straightened it all the time when i was younger but it's getting better! I'll try different products from what I started because now that my hair is healthier, I want to enhance my curls.
Could you girls do a product review on the moroccanoil curly hair product line? You’ve said such good things about their oils and body wash I was wondering what you thought about their other hair products!
It’s Amanda’s bloopers and Anthony getting canceled for me 😂
This quiz made me realize that I pretty much splurge on everything 🤣🤣
Was there anyone else who couldn't stop looking at the flowing curls of our beautiful product model Amanda? And Mel's curls and makeup! MUAH!!! Two beautiful girls. Great job broother!!!! What a fun video.
Love this as always -the fam together even more hilarious 😂
Thank you so much for your videos. You made me love my own hair again. I started straightening it since I was 11 years old. I just turned 26 yesterday and I am 3 months into my curly hair journey thanks to you! I love your videos ❤️
I love the way these videos are made and how much fun you incorporate while talking about things that are really useful
I am just saying since I have discovered you my hair is showing amazing curls. Every time I get tons of compliments. Thank you from the bottom of my curls❤ and also I want to thank you for the website!!!!!! Finally, I was waiting for this! Keep it up!
Great Video! Love the way you make them to NEVER be boring and on the same topic, so to speak. Thanks!!!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
😂😂😂. The bloopers were stomach-hurting-tears-running hilarious! Still laughing. Thx!
15-25€ is high end to me in any product category 😅
this video is so good but mel whatever lipstick you’re using is really working for you! i literally can stop looking at them it compliments your skin so so well it’s beautiful! love!!!
Question for Q&A - does heat protectant last thru refreshes or should we reapply before every time we diffuse? Thanks and love you and your seester!!
I would consider spending $200 dollars a splurge on a blow-dryer. I would never spend over $400 on one. I have yet to own one costing over $50 in my 31 years of life.😅
Fabulous video. I have to thank you so much for how you provide both Canadian sites and US for products. So many you tube channels just provide their own country purchase options and as a Canadian so many products are not available on Amazon or on sites that charge crazy shipping and duties, love all your videos. Your information has been a true game for my hair. 💐
Great video Mel, Amanda and Anthony! You guys cracked me up! Not only do I learn stuff by watching you, but you always manage to make me laugh & smile… And sometimes that’ll be the only time that day that I do so I just want to say thanks😊 I’d say you’ve definitely found your calling as a hairstylist and CZcams star❤
One category that wasn’t included was heat protectants. I know other items like leave in conditioners can have heat protection. I have a question about heat protection- when should I apply it?
At the end of my styling routine- bc it will be the outer layer or shield against the hair dryer? Do the benefits of the heat protectant still work if I use it as the bottom layer? I have problematic hair so I layer on at LEAST 3 styling products not counting a heat protectant.
Very informative 💯 because I’ve always thought the opposite about the save/$plurge on these, so TY Mel, Amanda & Anthony 👏👏👏
I absolutely love your videos! You’re so helpful, and give great advice. You and your Sees, both are so beautiful & silly, I love it! Keep up the amazing work & thanks for providing help for us who have been so lost on love for our curls.
Nice video! Amanda did so well showing the products, Anthony is such a nice brother for participating even though he doesn’t have a lot of hair and Mell always amazing teaching us everything 🥰
This was SUCH a fun and comedic video! The amount of times I laughed out loud lol! Also I love that amanda kept dropping the products ❤❤
I recently splurged on the Laifen hair dryer, and I absolutely love it! My hair doesn’t get too hot because of the cycling feature, and it takes half the time of my regular dryer. I have noticed a difference for the better in the condition of my hair.
I always learn something when I watch your videos! Thanks again Mell! ❤
One of the best episodes ever! We need more Anthony!😊😊😊
I love your energy Mell 🥰
This video was so much fun! Great job everybody!
I think this is one of my favorite videos you’ve ever done, so well done!
thank you samantha!! we had a LOT of fun (if you couldnt tell) hahaha
Loved the video and chat!! It was so fun!! And happy early birthday to the best channel, what would we do without you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
👏This was all I needed to hear to drop the pricey conditioner! I usually buy the one that matches my shampoo.
OMG! the blond was a moment but Mell's curls have honestly never looked better
Your brother did a great job! You taught him well!😊 Love the video! 💖
😂Loved this informative video. I really enjoyed your sense of humor.❤
Mel I want to thank you for ur content. I’m a wavy girl and I finally managed to use my hair beautifully even on day 4 ❤
What a fun video! Thank you curly hair seesters and brother!
So creative. Thanks for the entertainment and information.
Man! U guys are so creative! This is a great idea!
Entertaining and informative!?! Y’all are so talented!!
I love you Mell you crack me up every time 😂.. And your hair is gorgeous ❤
Oh Amanda, your mishaps and Mell's laughter in the background cracked me up. 😂
You canceled your baby brother 😅😅😅😅😅😅
I’m laugh at the beauty shots of Amanda 💀😂😂😂
Products are so fun! I've got a stash to work through before I buy anything, but I still can't wait to see what you recommend 😁
I love your videos and have learned so much about how to care for my hair. Love to you and your family.
Love Anthony 😂😂♥️ He did a good job. Come on.
Great video folks! This was very entertaining!
Haha I hadn’t seen this video yet. So good.
The role of Amanda as well, perfectly executed!!! 😹
Thanks for another really useful video. Really enjoying your website too. One feature that would be great to have on the website would be to search for products according to our hair type/texture, which would then pull up a full list of all the product that are best for each person. Just something to consider.
I love your energy on all videos
Love the video very good information. Anthony did great!
I'm excited! I love your videos and feel like this will help me so much!! thank you!!! :) Can't wait for special guest!!
Got a Dyson hairdryer for Christmas. Favorite dryer! But strongly dislike the diffuser!! I have thick curly hair. Saves time. Also have smaller Lange hairdryer for travel. Thanks for the fun video 😊
Veryyyy CREATIVE IDEA CONGRATSSSSSS little late to this one due to getting stuck with a cold but good job
I think Anthony did very well. Even when *HE* would be cheap (which since he has both short hair & a very simple, minimal style haircut, makes sense), he explained why most of your viewers would splurge.
As to products - overall, I agree with your Assessments, Mell. I would spend big bucks on a dryer, but unless I'm straightening, I very rarely take heat to my curls - don't want to spend the time (until my Sept 22 4inch chop, shoulder-mid back length 3B/3C curl patterns that is fine but thick took around an hour to blow-out straight + 30 minutes finishing w/ flat iron) + my results were better via air-drying versus diffusing.
LOL 😂 that editing on queen Amanda!! Love it!!
Ohh this has been so interesting! Like it!!
Loved this video & the bloopers!! ❤
I love your videos! I’ve struggled with what to do with my hair for so long and your videos have really helped! Do you have any advice on how to avoid hair damage and to help grow longer curls?
Lol I love the humor all the way ☺️and the info is insightful! Helps me with hair shopping lol the deep conditioning voice xD
haha I love this gameshow! brilliant stuff
Thanks for your videos Mel ❤
Could you please do an individual video on each category, giving examples of products you recommend (?). Thanks for the video 🥰💖
Amanda with the fan! 😂😂
This was so much fun! I have to ask, what lipstick are you wearing? It has to be the most beautiful flattering shade i have ever seen 😍
Just when you think that your brother doesn't listen to what you say, he goes and does this. Lol. Great, funny video full of good info for us curlies. Amanda with the tray..lmao.
That was a great entertaining video, Anthony was a great sport.
I'm with Anthony. I haven't found a low end conditioner that as very good slip like my splurge products.
I agree with all of your answers although I was kinda on the fence about leave in conditioner. After hearing the explanation i agree with you about going midrange. I color treat my hair and appreciate your help and fun approach. I enjoyed playing 😂 for dry shampoo I like dove or nexus
I dont use thaaaaat many products because I have ultra baby fine curly hair and too much can weight it down and make it feel dirty. So these are the product categories I use:
- Shampoo - mid range 😅 (I have been using the brand Giovanni Eco Chic since highschool, so over 15 years now) under $20 for me
- Conditioner - I like my shampoo and conditioner to be a set, but I have a few sets for different needs, so also mid range. Under $20
- Deep conditioner - SAVE! I have good results with deep conditioners that are $3 so why change that? From $3 to $12?
- Treatments - SPLURGE! My baby fine hair is very very dry, and I also bleach it and color it, and while deep conditioner helps, the dryness makes it prone to breakage. So I splurge on bond builders and such products (Olaplex #3 is a godsent for fine hair!) Up to $45
- Leave-in conditioner - mid range. I only have to make sure that it is water based, lightweight and that it doesnt build up! That is good enough for me. So I can't go with the cheapest, but mid range are great for me. Under $20
- Gel - mid range - just like leave in conditioner, if it is lightweight, not crunchy and water based, it is good for me. Under $10
- Hair brush - Splurge! A good brush will last a long time, and your hair will thank you! Up to $30
- Hair serum - Splurge! It has to be light, not build up, but also do its job well. Too light it doesnt protect that much, as it doesnt coat my strands too well. Too heavy and it weights my hair down and makes it feel dirty. So a high end formula, a mix of oils and silicones is the key for me. I live in high humidity place and oil is key to keep my hair looking great, less frizz, and retain the moisture. Up to $40
- Heat protectant - save. Affordable ones do a good job so I cant complain. Under $10
- Heat styling tools - mid range. Im not gonna be spending $500 for a dyson, but will not be using a $30 flat iron from Walgreens. I only have a blow dryer with a diffuser, a blow drying brush (Hot Tools), a flat iron and a wave wand. I barely use these. Maybe 3 to 4 times a year!
The other categories, such as Curl Cream, Refresh Sprays, Hair Spray, Dry Shampoo, etc... I dont use. My leave in, gel and serum are enough! And I can dilute my leave in conditioner between washes. Oh that is another thing, I dont wash very often because after experimenting, this is what works best for my hair! My scalp and hair are dry, I barely produce any sebum, so I can go a long time between washes, and this has made my hair feel so good, and look healthy!
Thank u for sharing!! ❤️🫶🏼
I think I agree with each answer!
Cute format ... how many guys could correctly answer these questions? Yay ... Anthony!
Loved this ❤
Great video, very entertaining and informative 👏 😊
The seesters and the bro, love it 😍😂. I splurge on shampoos and hair treatments for sure 😂 💰
Omg I’ve never been so early love you Mell!
Hi Mel! Where do you buy your clothes? I love all of your outfits!
I feel like for everything except hair treatment you can save. My favorite gel is from dove and it is even better than ouidad frizz control
Love the family videos 🥰
Great info! Can you please tell me what in your opinion is the best hair oil with silicone in it to “scrunch out the crunch”? I mostly have frizz on top of my head and need a new hair oil asap. Ghost oil doesn’t seem to work too well for me. 🥹Thank you Mel! I love everything you post! 🤗
I watched the entire video while styling and drying my hair. I tend to get high-end affordable drugstore products for my hair 😊
