Boxing Day is the traditional day for the exchange of gifts, though most do it Christmas Day.
It was from the old days, when the larger rich and posh folk had servants, Boxing Day was a time to put small items into boxes to give to their 'servants' as gifts of thanks, as well as what I said about gifts in general.
