- A 4K downtown Toronto walk along the city's waterfront. I start at Bathurst Street and walk east on Queens Quay West passing through some of the waterfront parks to Yonge Street, then I head up to King Station. I recorded this on Sunday, July 5th starting around 2:40 pm and the temperature was a rather hot 32 degrees Celsius which is 90 in Fahrenheit. It was good to see people out and enjoying the city as well as seeing many of the waterfront patios doing a good business. Although it was a bit unusual to see no planes flying in and out of Billy Bishop Airport. I will come back to this area later in the summer to do a recorded walk as well as head out to the islands which are now open to record a few videos there as well.
0:01 - North on Eireann Quay
1:15 - East along Queens Quay West
3:17 - Watefront Trail

Beautiful, I just love the water front views.... Thanks
I'll be watching this video everyday this winter :). Stay safe.
I love this Downtown area ! In the summer there are many events for all family! Thanks for the video 👍
You're welcome and indeed it's great for everyone to enjoy the summer... at least most years lol
Really enjoyed this video - great to see people out and about.
Thanks and it is great indeed!
We lived there in the 80's and these videos bring back wonderful memories although we hardly recognize the city now. Thank you for all your hard work.
You're very welcome. I bet this area has changed a lot!
lol it was waaay better back then, the people were anyway. The buildings are nicer now, people are worse!
Beautiful... Love the water front views..... Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
This was a very nice walk really wonderful place waterfront thanks Johnny and congratulations for the 8.000 subscriber that comes no surprise you deserved it .
Thanks Alvaro! It's been a long, steady climb but I hope to keep on growing and without viewers like you there would be 0 subs and comments so I appreciate you guys as well!
Beautiful day yet another beautiful walk beautiful lake awesome 👏
Thanks!
Perfect city! Everything is just SO perfect. There’s not a single thing out of place or where it shouldn’t be. Everything is just so spot on. Truly a dream to live in a place like that.
I find some things are not perfect but it's certainly my favourite city in North America!
What would you change Johnny?
-Crazy traffic (before COVID)
-Expensive housing
Those are the only two things really
@@cleric4265 Housing costs would be the primary thing (and a total ban of airbnb being run as a business, those have destroyed the rental market).
Yeah sure, but I when I said “perfect” I meant that as far as infrastructure goes and the way the city is laid out ,as well as, geographic location. Like the physical aspect of the city.
Beautiful water front view !! Thanks for sharing 😊👍
Thanks !
Very nice area it makes me feel I'm there! thanks for sharing... regards from Puebla Mexico.
Great video! Congrats on 8k! Can’t wait for more waterfront walks!!
Thanks! I think the next one through here will be narrated. I rode my bike through there again (yesterday) and if my ISP which is causing me migraines let's me upload it then it should be on the channel for tomorrow but probably Thursday (I'm only getting 1/4 of the paid upload speed and they're utterly incompetent at fixing it...).
I moved to Toronto at age 20 - over 25 years ago. Toronto has always been my home base from which I moved overseas a few times and even moved back to Northern Ontario a couple of times. But when my contracts are up, I always return to live in Toronto. I moved to the east coast from Toronto last year and your videos make me feel like I am back in Toronto again walking through the city. Thank you for giving me a piece of home. :)
Thank you, that's great to hear and Toronto will be waiting for you! Glad the videos are appreciated! 👍
Wow downtown Toronto is such a beautiful sight to behold. I enjoyed watching this video because I live at Jane street and don’t go downtown often.
You're welcome!
Congratulations are in order for reaching 8000 🥳 you deserve it these wonderful vlogs that you take the time out to video for us so we can see beautiful Canada that water front was breathtaking hope one of these days I will be in one of those skyscrapers enjoying the view 🥰thanks for sharing and keep these wonderful vlogs coming 🥰💞🥰

Thanks Louis! I try :)
Nice video! Gotta love the hot summers in Toronto 🔥🔥
Indeed, at least it's not so humid this year! 👍
Congrats to you for the 8K subs. That's the number of us crying, because we can't get up there! I had my vacation planned. But no, covid 19 had to have it's way! Thanks for the videos Johnny. Keep on showing us the best of Toronto.
Thanks Walter! Hopefully the US can get on the good side of the curve and we'll open up for travel, although it's not looking like it will be summer or even this fall.. maybe winter.
Wow, what an awesome place. I wish I could visit this place.
Thank you so much. I get to travel by watching your video. :-)
Really good video! It also felt like I was playing GTA and exploring around lol. But very it was like being there. 👍
Excellent visuals mate !!!!! Keep up the good work.
Thank you! 👍
Yes, it is wonderful. its like as i am walking for myself in the city.
Great, glad you enjoy the video!

I lived in Toronto for 40 years ,I live in Chile and is very nice for me to see the TO brings me many memories , !

I never spent much time @ the waterfront. Thanks for the video! 👏🏻
You’re welcome 👍👍👍
Nice start from water fronts, enjoyed it. Have a nice time.
Thank you James 👍
Last summer 2019, I worked in which is in that video 😍🤓 "Amsterdam BrewHouse located in 245 Queens Quay West ON M5J 2K9. Through this video, I was able to see this summer business how is going on. lol. Thanks for making this video. 🙂✌️
I love the fish and chips there. And of course beers
Congratulations on the 8k plus subs! I hope you get to do a walking tour in Vancouver, Banff, Whistler etc. if it's already safe to travel. 😁🍉🌷
Thanks! I will get out there some day but unfortunately I'm still working every day from 9-5 pretty much and use my vacation time in the winters to go far (such as my recent trip to Cambodia and Thailand, and Taiwan and Korea a few months before). Perhaps if I quit my job and do this full-time I could do that more easily haha..
Really nice. If you're from a small town in Canada, you're almost taught from birth that Toronto is a concrete jungle where good people are savaged by the dark heart of the urban beast (kind of like the Simpson's New York episode). But once you're actually there, once you take the time to get out and take it all in, the vitality of the city comes through. Other than wildly expensive rents, Toronto is so liveable. The walkability without the need for private transportation was the thing that caught me most by surprise when I started spending more time in the city. I'm a huge fan of these jaunts around, man. Keep it up.
Very well said. I've heard similar sentiments from others. Big cities aren't for everyone but judgement shouldn't be passed until one tries right? Thanks and I'll for sure keep it up!
Your making amazing videos.
Thank you
Thank you! 👍👍👍
Hey Strides good morning to you commando...am still having a fabulous sickk summer watchin all your great TO reeelist vids like krazy glue hoped u give me good credit for that hahahhahahahah..woww just watched 1 of your year ago vintage throwback streams (although this yr july was way flavourful and different due to vaccines)..from early age of the flippin pandemic and imagine one of our hiddrn gems Toronto music garden just like stunning ghosttown, even those passrbys along the watertrails looked at me, even u and perhaps others like we, even of course each other like were covid character zombies lol. it was a good gentleman loyal quiet walk man. cheers
Thank you. Great video
👍
awesome content keep up the amazing work
Thanks speak to bird
Nice walk. The waterfront area keeps getting better.
27:12 In case people didn't know, this is Harbourfront Centre's skating rink in the winter
28:55 Queen's Quay Terminal - cruise ship terminal; also offices, retail, restaurants, even a Sobey's (grocery store)
Indeed it does. There's been some big political missteps in the past but it's great to see the focus is now on livability above all else.
🍎 I know it is naïve but I never think of Toronto is having a waterfront for some reason. Even though I know it’s location on the lake. Great to see you and great to see you everyone out on bikes. I think we could solve a lot of problems just by making cities more bike friendly. Thanks for this tour again. - H
Thanks Henry! The waterfront has gone from being an embarrassment to an underrated part of the city over the years. It keeps improving and we have a nice compliment of beaches as well. We certainly need better biking infrastructure and even the trail along the waterfront in Toronto is poorly designed IMO and creates constant conflict with zombie pedestrians.
Toronto also has islands and several beaches that are very popular
Feel good.,. Smell of seawater... Thnx Johnny
Thanks! Fortunately Lake Ontario is freshwater and it's relatively clean these days so there's not much odour :)
Congratulations on 8k subscribers. Great video as usual. I was watching Actionkid live. You got a shout out. Someone was asking Actionkid about you, Actionkid said he enjoys your videos, and learning lots about Toronto. 👍
Thanks Mike! That's neat about AK! Do you know remember which video that was? I'd love to check it out. I often play his stuff when I'm working from home but he has so much content it's impossible to watch it all! The guy is a machine.
@@JohnnyStrides Live Staten Ferry July 7th. That's the title..
@@JohnnyStrides Johnny it's 106 minutes in the video
Thanks Mike! I love it when he does goofy stuff like when he chased those geese just after he mentioned me lol
I was in Toronto that summer, hopefully I'll come back
Is that a Banksy @ 35:32 .. looks very similar? Beautiful !
Also, some great views of the waterfront going on.
Keep it up!
I'm not sure but it's certainly done in that style. Thanks!
Feeling a sense of peace
That's great 👍
Great video...feeling i was there... ❤️..i will come when flights will open from india

I love you Toronto citizens
thankyou sir.
You're welcome!
good shoot
Really nice city
Thanks!
New sub in Toronto, I am loving the vibe of your channel...I found you from ActionKid. Do you do live & can we have your tour sched...are you doing them? Covid etc congrats on 8K :)
That's great! How did you find me from ActionKid? Was it just a YT suggestion? I don't have enough viewers yet to make going live like ActionKid does worth it but it's something I'm going to try to figure out this summer. I'll be happy to let you know the schedules when I know :) Thanks for the sub!
@@JohnnyStrides YT suggestion ok l will keep eyes open for the schedules tks keep up the great work
Good evening Toronto
Never went down there, definitely should check it out
It's definately worth checking out at least once!
Yen like this video thankyou appreciate yen
Thanks!
I think you had done this before. I have seen this. Thanks.
I came through here last summer when there was a tall ships festival and I did one in the winter when the waterfront was covered in snow. Good memory :)
Have not taken the subway since March - it looks a lot more pleasant without the crowds
I just rode it this morning during rush hour and it was surprisingly pleasant.
Just pure awesomeness 👌 i want to be there but Covid-19 restrictions means i can't fly to Canada this year :(
Let's hope next year is better!
your not missing much
Harbourfront my stomping ground during my Pokemon Go days in 2016 lol!
johnny you should do a walk along king st on friday between 5-9, I was shocked, no one with masks and it was busier than pre- corona.
I was thinking of doing that on a Friday evening/night sometime... hopefully soon, thanks for the suggestions.
What Philadelphia's waterfront should be! It has a lot of similarities, except Toronto got things done. While our City planning dept. has been puddling around since 1948.
That's fair but our waterfront was an industrial wasteland for years and when they finally built it out they started to seal it off with giant condos. It's taken a long time to correct those mistakes. I've never been to Philly but would love to some day!
The only thing thats missing there now, is the music!!
Super
Thanks!
Good
1.45! Oooo
Nice
👍
Aaaaaaaaaaaay Look at me, he got my red ride and me in all red on the court. Yooooooooooooooo’ yeah! Almega all away
What is the temperature of the summer in Toronto?
Usually mid to high 20's, feels a lot worse with the humidty though!
it will be more appreciated if you try to add 3d sounds in your videos, wherein if i put my headphones on i can hear sounds all over the places in 3d 😀
That would be neat but it took me a while just to upgrade to the way it sounds now. Perhaps some day I'll get there ;)
Please walk in Ethobicoke too.
I'm planning on doing that later this month! :)
I hear the steward's safety talk before the plane takes flight....
Don't you worry folks,we are only six month away from this...........
I still feel Toronto's waterfront to be a little bland ..It certainly has potential
I can't disagree... there were a lot of missed opportunities when it was first being developed as a livable neighbourhood.
Can't please everyone .!
16:13 uma brasileira??? 👀👀
4:44
No wonder phase 3 will never happen there!!
We'll be in stage 3 soon enough. Why wouldn't it happen? The numbers are continuing to dwindle in the city and masks are mandatory indoors just about everywhere... outdoors as long as people are mindful of distance who cares, inside is where the masks are vital.
Basa cudbo
Why are they not wearing masks?
Why would they though? This was in the summer and masks were not even recommended outdoors by health officials.
I just saw two masks.
That's hardly an impressive waterfront if you compare it to Vancouver's.
Of course not. But one could say Vancouver's skyscrapers (if they even count as such) aren't impressive compared to Toronto's (or pick any of a thousand other things...). :P
You have no idea how Argentinian your comment sounds. Ask any other Latino if you are in doubt.
@@JohnnyStrides Wow, what a desperate comment/comeback. Tell me, does Toronto have a building like Vancouver House? Other than the skyscrapers, Toronto is full of ugly shitty old buildings and are you really comparing a city of 2.5 mil in Vancouver to a region 3 times our size? Yeah, ok...Try comparing Toronto's skyline to Chicago - I'll take Chicago's any day with their canals. Typical TO defensiveness, puhaha and you say "or pick any of a thousand other things..""? Hahaha. Ok, let's go with your shitty ass weather or traffic? Hey Toronto and Vancouver are both great cities no doubt with their own merits, but come on buddy...no one would call Toronto a 'beautiful city', at least anyone who has traveled to anywhere significant. Toronto's strength lie in it's culture, not really any of the architecture or surroundings ok. czcams.com/video/O-lbTaGQWPA/video.html
@@forexdragon You picked something that Vancouver obviously does better than TO so I returned the favour. Toronto has way more historically significant (and impressive) buildings than Van. These are facts that is all.
Yes well, Toronto is like 100 years older than Vancouver, so obviously it has more history. Most of Canada's history was made in the east because that's where most of them setup when they came from Europe because it's closer. It's just a matter of geography, not anything to do with anything inherent about Toronto.
why are canadians so standoffish towards people of other nationalities. This is a serious question. I didn't find any friendly canadians until now. Why does this stereotype keep coming over again and again.
I have not observed this before and have friends and co-workers from all backgrounds. Perhaps this behavior persists outside of Toronto in the suburbs and smaller communities?
Think u need to get out more
Ive never ever heard this stereotype before. Born and raised in Canada from my own experience ive never seen people act "standoffish" to people of other nationalities, at least where I live and Toronto, it is very diverse, pretty hard to be cold to people of other nationalities when the places are of mixed nationalities. I as well have friends and co-workers of all backgrounds and I love them all equally! :)
people riding bikes with masks really insane
I don't get it at all tbh. I certainly don't wear one on the bike. Maybe in a city with horrendous air pollution or someone with some kind of allergy but for 99%+ here in Toronto it doesn't make sense.
@@JohnnyStrides very. Nice
Such a truly ugly city, endless condos, no planning for the future. terrible public transit etc. etc. - I know, I live here!
I have to disagree, there's been a lot of bonehead decisions but by no means is the public transit terrible (have you ever actually been to another large NA city? Most of them are utterly pathetic in that regard and only a few better than TO and our bus network in terms of frequency and capacity is arguably the easy #1 by far).
@@JohnnyStrides I’ve lived in San Francisco and Boston and I know decent public transit when I see it! I have a feeling you never use the TTC. Ever taken a subway here during pre-pandemic rush hour? Chaos! And every weekend, major sections of the subway are shut down for “signal upgrades.” This weekend, it’s between Union and St Clair. (9 stops). Aren’t shuttle buses wonderful? I don’t suppose you’ve ever lived anywhere but toronto, voted “the unhappiest city in Canada:” in 2019! LMAO!!
@@musicus11 What a hilarious string of ignorant comments you've just made. I've mentioned several times on my channel that I have lived abroad for over 5 years (in Seoul), have traveled extensively (probably more so than you since you site San Fran and Boston as having "good" transit systems) and that I used to commute daily into the financial district to work but keep up with your baseless assumptions. You come across like some close-minded bitter troll, congratulations.
@@musicus11 Jeez, why are you so toxic?
Toxic, unhappy person you really dont have to live here!
Boring.
@Avinash Gardas no idea
