If you have multiple characters (with multiple pawns), it'd be less likely that you'd interact with anyone else's pawns because you could just make and rent your own. I know... because I did that in the first game using 2 PSN profiles.
It does suck that we can't have multiple save files. But I think I understand why they made that choice. And there is a work around... using a second PSN profile for a second character.

I also understand the “issue” behind filling your party with your own pawns but personally since I bought the game I feel like this is a choice that I should be able to make, whether or not my game will be “more authentic” or not... it’s not like it would affect anyone else.

Jokes aside, I agree that limitations are great in games. I love monster hunter *because* of how “limited” some might describe the combat as. But here we literally have a single player RPG without the ability to create new characters in-game or create multiple characters. It’s not like this is a technical challenge - during development I would imagine they had plenty of ways to manage / create new characters for testing. The problem is that they are purposely limiting players for no good reason. There was a 35% of the overall playerbase on Steam of it that riot over that before. Plus the horrible performance and server issues wasn't helping at the time. This was prior to Iceborne, and the port to PC. It was horrible. The DenuvoDRM is most likely the culprit for impacting the performance. After they removed that, the performance was heavily improved.
Another thing to point out, was that the MH:World's MTX was purely extra cosmetics, unlike MH:Rise. That is a big difference. MH:World sells cosmetics for addons and room decorations and it was never the Weapons nor Armor, excluding the pre-order bonuses. MH:Rise received a lot of flak for MTX of those said Weapons and Armor. That's why the reviews for Rise is lower than World. That's why the sales are also lower but CAPCOM thinks that people just prefer World, because of the large scale of it. If so, I believe this is going to happen to MH:Wilds too when it comes out. Since CAPCOM does this all the time. Not listening to the playerbase.

I dunno, I've also seen reviews about people complaining about Denuvo as well. Why does a single player game need an anticheat? Probably for the microtransactions is my guess, but then I ask why does a single player need so many microtransactions?
The way I see it we shouldn't be having microtransactions like this in a single player game at all. People should just be against this kind of corporate greed by default in my opinion. Also, without microtransactions there would be no real need for Denuvo to be on this game.

I don't really care about the DLC because I have no need for them and I knew these where just shortcuts for those that don't feel like playing it for long.
The fact you can only have a save at the time too doesn't affect me since I know you don't need it to enjoy the game (many are saying they want to try multiple builds but the thing is, this game is like Monster Hunter: your gear affects your stats the most, just switch between vocations and you are done, you don't need to make a new character and even if you want to make a bigger or smaller character for the mechanics of weight carrying or stamina repletion and speed just edit your character, it's ingame and really easy to get what you need for it).
Im only miffed about the lack of the option to start all over again the game like you had in DDDA (By hitting new game or switching to hard mode) and how bad is the optimization but the former barely affects me since I usually don't want to restart until after I beat the game and the latter is the reason I never buy a game in the first 5 months of it's release.

I hate MTX as much as the next person, but the amount of hate being directed at this game in particular is wildly disproportionate compared to all the recent games that intentionally gut the game to push them. Add on the fact that a lot of people are straight up lying about them, saying you have to pay for any of them, and acting like they're not available in game otherwise (They are... they all are... easily), either through sheer ignorance, or through some disgusting desire just to mislead people.
Ubisoft, Activision and EA all put out nearly every single game they release with predatory microtransactions and no one bats an eye. Dragon's Dogma 2 includes them but DOESN'T gut the game in the process, and it suddenly gets shit all over. I agree that I'd rather them not be there at all, but they are so non-intrusive to the game that you can't even access the menu in game beyond the title screen.
There are legitimate reasons to critique the game, like the abysmal performance, so I'm not sure why people feel the need to lie or spread misinformation instead. This is one of the least intrusive inclusions of MTX I've seen in recent history, and yet somehow it is receiving way more hate than any other game for it.

It's because of the DenuvoDRM. CAPCOM will not budge on that because they don't want their games to be pirated. DenuvoDRM was proven to be the problem for performance issues back when Resident Evil was released. I believe a certain channel tested performances proved this. Thus, it's ironic that they put DenuvoDRM to prevent piracy, but pirating the game actually gives you a better game performance, so people pirate it. That's why they said they'll look ways to improve performance in the future, because they do not want to remove DenuvoDRM. They also hate the idea of mods, desite people finding ways to mod it anyways. They kept doing this whole "against the community" thing and it's not pretty to look at... I like CAPCOM for their games but sometimes... They make the most confusing decisions... Most likely because they're a Japanese Company? That their mindset is a bit... far behind?

The reviews were mixed when I saw it this morning on Steam. Also, for the whole "Microtransaction" issue let's not forget the OG Dragon's Dogma had them too. Buying rift currency and starting equipment packs and wakestones and such is nothing new to Capcom or Dragon's Dogma. They're entirely optional and don't contribute to a pay-to-win style. None of them have to be purchased. So I don't see what the big deal is there.
Honestly the biggest issue for me is performance. I have a 4070ti, and the first time I started up the game the audio was desynced in the opening cutscene and the game hung numerous times. I ended up skipping that cutscene entirely and just went into gameplay. From there, it was a locked 60fps for me. Granted, a 4070ti isn't anything to scoff at GPU wise. I don't have those kinds of performance issues that others experience, even in towns. The OG game was not 60fps regardless of how you played. This game feels just like the OG title to me and I honestly don't mind.

The worst thing about the game isnt the MTX for me, for like many others said its dumb they exist but theyre not needed. The save system is what makes me mad, because of the fact they made it actively worse than the original games. In the original game you could also only have 1 save, thats nothing new, but not only did they keep that but they then removed the ability to start a new game so you can quickly change your character if you're not completely happy with the appearance....
You can technically go into the steam files and delete a save to start a new game, however, you also need to turn off the steam cloud, so if you spent time with their demo creating a character you can no longer use it because it requires the steam cloud to pull that data into the new game.
In other words, they created a demo for character creation, made the new game have only 1 save file (worst part of the original game), removed the ability to start a new game (making the one bad part of the og game worse), and also made it so if you delete your save, you have to also turn off steam cloud so then you can not use your character created in their demo, and to top it all off they just so happen to sell a character edit book in the store on a single player game hopping their player base is dumb enough to not complain, not play the game, and buy it blindly.

Veteran DDDA player here. I haven't had the chance to spend hours on DD2, but my initial impressions are kinda mixed as of now. It definitely doesn't quite feel the same as DD1, but that might change once I level up enough and unlock more augments and skills. I wanted to try out Archer, and haven't played any other vocations yet, but I am liking Archer. I was afraid that removing the dual blades would result in problems dealing with enemies up close, and while it sort of does present issues, I think that the Pawns aid you enough to allow you to maintain some distance. Up close the Archer doesn't have a whole lot of options. The kick button comes in handy, but isn't exactly ideal, and as of now, Archer can't create distance fast enough imo. I hope additional options are unlocked as you rank up, but if it stays the way it is now, you wouldn't really be wanting to go on solo adventures with this vocation. It doesn't quite feel like your maneuverability and evasiveness is compensating sufficiently for that lack of a satisfying close quarters presence. It's not like a bow focussed Assassin vocation. More like Ranger, with how heavy it sometimes feels.
Moving around on the map, across the terrain also feels distinctly different now, and it's improved in some regards, but feels slower or heavier in others.
Armor/clothing options also took a major hit. DD1's was superior. I don't (yet) have the impression that I can make my character look the way I want her to look.
I'm currently still figuring out where everything is and who does what (shops and such), and it's all a bit confusing, and maybe a bit much to get used to quickly. But perhaps time will remedy that. There's also a peculiar sense of a lack of purpose and direction as of now. Sure, it's cool that you can explore a giant map right away, but I find myself running around in circles, or what sometimes feel like circles, because the terrain is often indistinguishable from other locales. Again, it's too soon to form a valid opinion on that, but I'm doing sidequests that I'm not really digging tbh. Get some girl in the slumbs pieces of gold, then get her some medicine, etc., deliver ghost dust to the nun, lend some kid a sum of money, find this thing, chase that boy. I don't find it impactful or gratifying. And sure, DD1 had sidequests like that, but that's a 12 year old game.
Still, I can't say I'm not having fun with it, because there are definitely times when you are enjoying yourself, but it's not quite the amazing game that I was expecting (based on recent reviews and general hype levels). I think my biggest gripe right now, aside from some performance issues, is that it doesn't 'feel' like the first game. The atmosphere is different (not better), and while the gameplay feels fresh and has potential, I think I still prefer DD1's (slightly) faster past and more responsive mechanics. That's just my initial impression. I'm hoping it's just a case of getting used to.

The problem I have with these micro transactions is that we have been waiting a VERY long time for them to release a new entry in this IP to then ruin the fanfare with micro transactions that NO ONE was made aware of prior to the release.
Plus as you have said, they are basically pointless. It shows how capcom does not have faith in their own brand and is something of a stab in our backs by them. I now absolutely refuse to EVER purchase Capcom products ever again. They have killed what little faith I had left in them. From now on I will have to think about future titles that I will be waiting for from other publishers to hope that they don’t make the same stupid mistakes. It’s just a real turn off.
The ONLY thing I would justify paying so much for a game to then shell out more money is for expanded DLC that gives MULTIPLE things at once, or a keys to the city type dlc like Crackdown did for its first game way back when. But this? This is just scummy.
