CD Music from the original Warcraft game. CD music can't be enabled in DOS. It might work in Mac, but I have not tried it. Music ripped from CD with Nero.

I remember when I found out that if you put the Warcraft 1 and 2 CDs in a CD player, it plays the soundtrack. Best childhood ever.
I had similar but with AGE OF EMPIRES 2, Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear and some more it was incredible!
+Abelhawk a lot of playstation 1 and DOS era games did that, i know twisted metal 3 did.
They had two sets of filesystems on that CD. One was ISO9660, which would allow a computer to recognize the data files for the game. The other was Redbook (CD Audio) which would work both in a CD Player as well as any decent music player on the PC.
You did not ask, but anyway. On Warcraft 1 CD there is also a Mac version(which can be installed on Mac obviously and have Mac filesystem and not seen under DOS or Windows), which uses 640x480 resolution and have CD music. While PC version used 320x240 and MIDI music. Live with that.
was so good man. worked so many game CD's at the time, and so many of them had so unique and well-composed soundtracks. i hate to sound like an old grouch but they don't do it anymore.
Track 3 my favorite, such a sense of desperate struggle.
It's so good, like it actually sounds like a medieval fight for survival with how that trumpet just honestly drops and goes ham all on a PC from 1995
Old Warcraft really was something when it came to aesthetics before the later games just decided it wanted to copy pop culture

I was playing as an Orc I was surrounded on an island there were human catapults on the other side there was one way out of the island that was through a forest and as soon as I would do that I would be overwhelmed since my mine was out and I only had a certain amount of gold I thought I was done for that all changed once I researched and summed demons with unholy armour.

Best Warcraft Hands down. Back when Blizzard wasnt trash like today. Here we have dark, aggressive battle music and dark bloody Artworks in the manual and no stupid cartoonish artworks of today.
While it had some cool atmosphere and characters, the very clunky mechanics and graphics hold it back compared to WC2 or WC3. That said, a remake with modern graphics and mechanics (like being able to select more that 4 units at a time :P ) would make for an awesome game.
Honestly Blizzard should remake WC1 and 2 with the WC3 Reforged engine.
Yeah, i still play wc3.
The hero-factor was a gamechanger.
But the feeling of fear as a child playing wc1 is unbeaten.
And this soundtrack had a huge impact on that.
Nothing like a dose of Blizzard nostalgia to remind you what games are all about: "In the age of chaos, two factions battled for dominance."

I remember i was Humans, i used about 4 footmen up against the Daemon 1 by 1 and the Daemon wiped them all out, epic!
4 of anything against a daemon would produce the exact same effect most of the time. Except other daemons and elementals.

well dark sight isn't that useful, but raising skeletons could be useful for creating a barrier for other spearmen when the front lines(of either side) die and if you unholy armor the skeles then those human troops are gonna be toast. or
dark vision could be useful depending on the map you were playing because you couldn't freely explore some areas or
I loved this game because it is one of the most balanced games I feel ive ever played yet has enough differences to create different playing styles or preferences.

I remember some games had that if you had no sound card...like the little internal beep when you turn the power to the computer on- but it would play those like different tones as "sound" for games if you had no speakers. Don't know if Warcraft had it though.
Well, it IS on the Warcraft: Orcs & Humans Cd-Rom. As the description says, read the thread on Vogons. People were wondering why the music wouldn't play while actually playing the videogame, and it turns out it's for the Mac version.

By the way, I can confirm that these are definitely tracks from Warcraft 1. Warcraft 2 ones were good too, but not as mysterious and aggressive as the ones from the 1994 game.
Actually, I find W2 tracks more aggressive, since they're more dynamic. But W1 tracks are darker, and that theme suits the game better - especially once you remember how it ended canonically...

Diablo1 music was freakishly hellish, pure evil. Starcraft1 sounds like you were in space, and in tune with the faction you were playing.
And then it goes downhill from there ...

@thesmashmaster Hahaha thanks for the link! Yes the Disaster melody could be an accident. I'm not blaming anyone. I just found it very enjoyable to listen to. Maybe the creator of the Disaster theme had played Warcraft in the past and somehow it got stuck in his subconsciousness.

@@Cyberdemon1542 Sadly, but no. I'm stucked at some point, and later had no time to continue. It was long time ago. Maybe sometime I will resume this project, but unlikely it will be any time soon. Blizz probably will craft a remake of WC1 sooner =) (but it most likely will be a piece of shit, with some retcons and coming outs =) )

I first played a demo version of this. Back when game devs put free demo versions of their games on game magazines (nowadays they charge 60$ for those...). Bought it and played it on my old Windows 95 PC (together with Diablo 2). Man, i feel so old...

for me it passes on in the family, my father played wc 1 and 2 and i started playing wow in wotlk
Though this game ranks among Wolfenstein 3D, System Shock, Star Wars: X-Wing, and Age of Empires+Rise of Rome as good games now deemed outdated by their sequels if not spiritual successors, you can't deny the fact that the lore (yes, even Wolf and AoE) and the music of said games are still top tier.
WoW wont ever be as good as this was....but atleast its heading this direction now.

My fav tracks of all Waracrafts are Warcraft II's songs. III's are definetely the least remarkable. I's are fucking great! Though not as developed as II's, I's songs are the darkest. I fucking love this vibe. War is dark, war is terror. It's good to hear glory and epicness but this is frightening. These songs reminds us we're going to battle and winning or losing it... it's terrifying. Love it.
Interesting how some of this music is played during the pet battles in WoW.

It's too bad you cannot have the CD version of the music playing as you play WC1 (through normal means). The remastered version on the CD is still superior to most casual midi sound fonts out there (And even with a really good sound font set... it's still gambling if it'll work out right).
They should remaster this game.

Tracks 2, 3 and 4 = Human
Tracks 5, 6 and 7 = Orc
Track 1 = orc defeat in Warcraft 2 (no idea if its also part of the Warcraft 1 soundtrack or just added by mistake)

Actually, all of these tracks really are the ones from Warcraft I. Try finding the ones from the second game and compare them. You'll see they are different.

charon128 Second song is Menu music from war 1 and was not in war 2. That first song was very different from either the war 2 cd or the war 2 midi with either microsoft or soundblaster soundfonts.
I don't know how much of this is really from orcs and humans cd but it's clearly not from war 2 cd.
Warcraft 1 and 2 and 3 had the best music.. World of Warcraft has music not even close to as goods it used to be. Sound budget must have been cut.. same as diablo 1 and 2.. because diablo 3 had music that suffered.
+Shaa Isis same with many games, graphics poor moneys into graphics but sound department, that used to be very important to the immersion, is cut. What a shame. Blizzard is the most guilty to this imo, their sound department back in the day were crazy good
