if you would of told me 2 years ago there will be an episode of purple insider titled "Sam darnold breakdown" I would have laughed at you, and then if you would have told me I would be understand and sort of like the move to acquire Sam darnold , I would have laughed even harder and asked what you were smoking ?
This guy was great! For a Jets guy, he really seemed to have good knowledge of the Vikings as well.
Sam Darnold had mononucleosis? I completely forgot about that. I had a bad case of mono when I was 11 years old. Two weeks in intensive care, and then it took me a couple years before I felt fairly good again. It's probably the closest disease to covid for sapping your strength for an extended period.
I really hope the Vikings give Darnold a good, hard look. With a solid offense around him, Darnold might just be a very good QB.
I don't think I knew anyone in high school who _didn't_ get it. One of the bad things about having it is that it enlarges your spleen. It makes playing contact sports not an option for several weeks because if you rupture an enlarged spleen it can kill you.
Love the show Matthrew! I wait everyday for your daily show. I'm so Happy Cousin's is gone!! When I heard he signed with the Falcon's, I was just as excited, if not more excited then the day we signed the guy. Why everyone including myself, didn't see that he was a mercenary NFL player to begin with is beyond me. Now the Falcon's are stuck with this guy but, that's their problem and it's time to go get our QB in the draft and start a new era in Minnesota. I pray that we can go all in and move up to get my guy in Drake Maye! The fact that we got Sam Darold as a bridge is very cool in my book. Thanks again for the show today! Love the content!
I agree with everything in this comment , I feel you should have added : "Keep Cooking Kwesi"
Drake Maye is a bad pick. He’s erratic, does not have good pocket presence, and his footwork is terrible. Watch a bunch of breakdowns of him people who know football don’t like him so much.
Much appreciated Randy
@@justingagnier1394honestly all these guys have serious issues and questions, I don't trust any of them whatsoever
@@justingagnier1394 You have the right to your opinion, however, I see it differently, I'll believe what I believe, and I will agree to disagree with your opinion. But, thanks for your input.
Another good guest and show. Will’s input on Rodger’s being super positive till proven otherwise is cool.
7:00 What you don't bring up is that 3 of those 4 INTs came in ONE GAME (the Saints game, the last game of the season)!!! So up till that game, he had only 1 INT in 5 games.
Wow, an outsider that doesn’t drool in ecstasy over the rest of NFC North-how refreshing. 💯 agree Packers will be overhyped and disappoint.
Fun fact: Bisi Johnson started over JJ in JJ’s rookie year for the start of the season
that was because JJ got COVID and started camp from behind
Randy Moss was on the bench game one and played sparingly until game 6 in 1998 . Big step from D-1 to the NFL . Also another fun Fact about 1998. Brad Johnson got hurt and they called Randall Cunningham who was laying tile in Las Vegas for work
Darnold was exposed to a lot of dysfunction in his short NFL career. Perhaps spending last year with the 49ers has him in a better mental space. I’m cautiously optimistic that he can get on a much better trajectory in Minnesota.
100% correct….well said!
Yeah, the carnage in the places he's been took a toll on him mentally. His own injuries and the Mono have always interrupted his seasons too, and he could never get on a long roll. What 20 year old QB can come into the league with a bad OL, subpar WR's, no running game, and bad coaching, and expect to excel? He started pressing because it was all on him, and that only led to more mistakes. If he calms down and learns to process quickly, he still has a chance to really good I think. McCown is a big PLUS.
I dont think pats are passing on drake maye. Nightmare situation would be to give up three firsts for mccarthy.
You said it perfectly. They need to trade up to get Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye at #3. If they can't do that, then they shouldn't trade up at all. I really hope Kwesi has a plan with acquiring a second first round pick.
They also gave up two 2nd for 23rd pick.
I’d prefer McCarthy over Daniels (and am not the only one). There are a lot of different opinions about the ordering of the prospects after Williams. (And some people like Williams less than the top, including me.) That said, they are all basically coin flips. Spending the resources for Daniels (who has a slight build, doesn’t continue to be a passer after breaking the pocket, doesn’t effectively pass in the middle of the field, had poor numbers before his final year with LSU) or McCarthy (lacks volume stats, played on a monster team) is essentially the same gamble. I’ll just trust that whomever they take is KOC’s preference.
I’ll only be disappointed if they don’t take any of the top 4 as there appears to be a gap in NFL prospect potential when you drop down to Nix and Penix.
Would really love to finally see the Vikings nail a QB draft and get a 15 year HOF stud at the position.
@@ryandaley3351I would actually prefer McCarthy over Maye. Maye struggles and makes bad decisions under pressure and McCarthy thrives under pressure. That’s something that’s very hard to coach out of someone. McCarthy also has great pocket awareness and was running an NFL offense, making NFL type reads. Maye was in an air raid offense.
@@Chunkyb514 Yeah, I’m Maye/McCarthy > Williams/Daniels. I don’t really differentiate between them that much, and would be fine with any of the four. I think McCarthy has the most upside since his major knock is volume. If he maintains efficiency with a 50% increase in attempts then he would be the best of the bunch. But we don’t know. Maye/Daniels/Williams all have more known issues. With McCarthy it is the unknown issue. For some evaluators, the unknown outweighs the known. For others, they just go with the known and McCarthy ends up in the top 2 instead of the top 4. Draft will be fun (unless the Vikings don’t draft any of the top 4).
Gteat show as always Matthew
Frisky is an odd term to use when you're talking football???
Darnold will easily take Vikes as far as he did the Jets! KCousins 2.0!
vikes had the #14 defense with the #23 offense. so after ramping up on defense in FA, they should draft mostly offense
regarding justin jefferson, if his contract demands are too crazy, i say he will NOT get re-signed. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if there's a blockbuster trade at the draft
If there's a trade, it's going to be before the draft -- makes no sense to wait til after and miss out on improving your team _this year_ with him gone
8-10 games?
Try 13 (minimum) games.
Sam is going to start the majority of the season.
Please please go get one of the top 3 and McCarthy IS NOT in that group. Ive said it before and will say it again. 3 weeks ago McCafthy was a mid to late 2nd round. Harbaugh is bragging him up as the best(just not true) qb then he threw hard and long but not accurate at the combine and now he is in the top 3??🤔 That got McCarthy millions and millions more dollars in the draft. Then he has to sit for at least a year maybe more as any of the other 3 will either start immediately or part way through the season. That eliminates 1 or more of the rookie contract also.
Will the Jets allow Aaron Rodgers to run as VP? 😂
Sam Darnold will be a lot of three and outs and he had 4 fumbles in his last five games in Carolina. The excuses for his play in New York went on forever because of the east coast bias and the draft gurus who traded their souls for the guy - and just wanted to be right.
So you're harping on his 4 fumbles (only 1 of them his own doing) and ignoring everything else. Gotta love the internet.
Everything this dude just said in the first five minutes I could swap Sam Darnold for Nick Mullens, and save nine million… just just saying
Darnold is 22-33 as a starter. Not good right? Without Darnold starting those same teams were 3-24. That’s a 30% lift in w/l. Can Mullins do that?
Give Sam a chance. He’s got a WAY better arm than Mullins and has been through the grinder.
Can’t use info about jets. You understand Washington is a functional franchise in comparison. How msny yearsxhascjetscoicked in top ten. They made a career about doing things wrong way . Look at thier coaches last ten years . How would you fare with Adam Gase as your coach that put darnold back years. Was worse than going to bears if you’re a quarterback. 😳
