    I'm on my 33rd bike and I've never owned a Suzuki. But as a fully qualified and experienced motopsychologist I warn you that you will forever regret selling that particular bike. It would cost you the hoped for £5300 just to tart up a new BMW. You owe the bike an apology for even contemplating her sale.

    bought my 2012 almost a year ago now - first big bike after a 20 year break. I had a CBR600 and Fireblade before but didn’t miss the extra power. You get on it and ride - no fuss, no gizmos, just nice v twin torque. Every time I think I ‘need’ more power and modes and a TFT screen I ride it and am happy. Old bikes never die 😏

    I recently picked up a very tidy 2018 SV650X and it's a peach. I'd been considering a Trident 660 but the SV was offering similar performance for 2/3rds the money. I also loved the idea of a v-twin in a compact naked. I've not been disappointed: 600 miles in four weeks (not bad for me at the tail end of winter) and it lives up to its reputation. The standard would be the better all-rounder but I've not found the clip-ons too torturous. Pure entertainment on two wheels.

      i did some of my DAS training on the SV650, and i just can't put my finger on it but just didn't rate it too much, even though i didn't have much big bike experience, maybe it was because it was a bit tired after all those trainee's, and for the longest time was fixed on a cb500f too when i passed, for the same reasons as yourself, that every review praised it so much, but decided to go for the cb750 hornet instead, because for not too much more money it has so much more power and features, and i got a cracking deal, so didnt want to wonder what i may be missing in 6 months time lol. I'm delighed with my choice too, and while not a speedster, that OMG moment when i twist the throttle and it kicks me up the ass is priceless, but also sure that had i chosen the cb500f would be happy as well, as everyone is !!. @kfkwAL7 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@Englishbikerdan genuine question- do you pay much more than that? Even as a new rider years back, I’ve always found the sv dirt cheap to run and insure. Do your own oil change- less than £50.
      Last bit of your comment describes most bikes owned in the UK! I suppose it’s a good thing that you’ve not used it- as your channel has grown and become more successful meaning having long term loaners etc would mean any bike you had you wouldn’t use- a great reason though!

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@kfkwAL7 Yeah, the SV really shocked me. £600 fully comp. My Tiger 850 was less than half that and that's a much more expensive bike. I sure could do my own servicing, but to get the dealer activated 7 year warranty, you have to keep it serviced at a Suzuki dealership. The biggest reason for selling is the long termers now starting to come through. First world problems for sure, but I need to save a bit of money too. Cheers for the comment. :)

      £600 to insure the SV- that’s insane! I’m in a big city in Scotland but out of interest I just ran a quote for an imaginary 37 year old living in a small town in hants with no no claims and even then it was less than £280… with 5 years it came out less than £200… do you use the comparison sites?
