I just want you to know that I followed your video and it was very helpful, I was able to back up my video files without too much of a problem as my security company never showed me the ins and outs of the dvr they installed. I just needed to research what dvr file format was and what asf format meant in my unit and once I figured it out, it recorded the video clips I needed. Thank you for paying attention to the small details that eventually led to a successful back of files for me.

I have this same software menu on my dvd and i can't get it to see the usb drive. Does it have to be formatted a specific way as i have it set to fat32
I hope you meant DVR and not DVD, but check the size of the usb drive I think it might be too large and also you there is two port in the back , make sure that you are plug into the top one. one more thing plug your usb into a computer and check that it did not get damage.
No , External Hdd will not work . Try this instead, only copy one channell at a time or cut the recording time in different time slot . Just make the recording shoorter.

Yeah depends on the quality of the video and how many cameras but you could probably get 15+ days worth of footage

The file that you are downloading from the dvr is larger than the external drive that you are loading to. Try to download minutes instead of hours.
