I'm the opposite, I will show you how. Like gold prospecting for instance, Saw a guy trying to pan a soft sand area with a antique metal pan. I asked him how he was doing, he said "okay ,but, not finding and gold". Told him "you won't find it there it is too soft unless you dig down to the solid ground". (It was a sand bar). I said "Let me see your pan" I stratified what was in the pan, moved the material from the edge and showed him no gold. I said, "Hold on I will be right back. Grabbed some gear out of my Expedition, took it to the spot we were talking at and said "follow me". I took him to an area where Gold would be, showed him what to look for, set up a home made sluice I made, , showed him how it works, how to pan out the materiel, and then gave it to him (the sluice) after we had some gold in the material so he could see what it looked like I left, saying good bye. me and my then girlfriend drove away. I already had multiple sluices and he didn't have one, now he does.

I will say the area you live and the tributaries of the Platte River valley have a ton of amazing artifacts going back at least 13,000 years ago to the Clovis big game hunters. The Flattop Chalcedony just north of you in Sterling Colorado area is the most beautiful high quality weapons grade stone in existence. They traveled/traded over a thousand miles to that quarry. It’s pink/purple, translucent, and about a 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Yet it flakes into perfect conchoidal fractures for controlled pressure and percussion flaking techniques.

Nz topo map is a free map viewer available on the play store. Provided free by the NZ gov it comes pre loaded with our gps tiles but you can import any map of any filetype and reference up to 20 basemaps for easy transition between surveyed areas. So yes it gives you all this for free and allows you to ad real topo files on top.

Hey Shane When I was about 7 or 8 my Buddies and I were at the Beach . I found all these Oysters on the back side of an exposed boulder because the tide was out . I found a railway spike and got them all off . Ate a few raw and did some on our fire . My buds wouldn't touch them . Lucky I did not get sick . Who Knew there were certain months of the year you don't eat them . Funny thing . It was around 1969 1970 . We could go to the corner store and buy a pack of matches for a penny . One kid would buy smokes . 7 yrs old with a pack of smokes tucked in the sleeve of his T-shirt Lol . They tried to kick him out of Elementary school for it in grade 2 . The school lost . He wasn't allowed to smoke on the grounds . Our School was surrounded by Forest and at recess we were in the Forest . Climbing trees and building Forts .

Well your paydirt was fun. I dont have the sophisticated scale you have but i ended up with roughly .6g of gold so over 50% roi which is a lot better than my last one. I got a cool quarts crystal and an amethyst. A 1983 dime, sweet. Havent done the tailings yet but because of the extreme pain in the ass cleaning up the flour gold was im going to go through it again and upload my findings to youtube. Im very happy with what i got already so anything i missed at this point is just icing on the cake. My camera is a cell phone and my son helped me but my battery died halfway through so itll probably bw a couple parts. Thanks again Shane it was a serious challenge for a newb like me and well worth the practice.

Another GREAT video, Shane! Yes, magnets are our friends. 🥰 Started using GAIA a few months ago during quarantine to help find places along old trails that might be worth a look. But we do need to be aware of the Antiquities Laws while searching for relics in most sites. I do prefer the hard plastic digging tools over metal just so I keep damage to a minimum if I happen to uncover a valuable item when relic hunting. Plus they don't interfere with the detector. I am still planning on doing a video on the unopening of the Klesh Krumbs bag I got. Can't wait! I am still hoping I get a guitar pick! 🤞

800 is my all around favorite machine, as far as versatility. As you know it's excellent for coins and relics, but also great for beaches (salt and fresh) and even gold prospecting with the small 6" coil, found gold with it! Of course it's not as good as an SDC2300 or Gold Monster 1000 for gold propspecting, but it does work. That's why I travel with the 800 more than any other, it's good for any situation. Except scuba diving :)

That looks like an archaic knife blade more than a projectile point. It’s too thick, large ridges left on the crown of the blade instead of the long overshot oblique pressure flaking you normally would see on a spear head to thin the overall profile for hafting on the shaft. And to be honest, small amount of the flaking I could see on the video looked pretty fresh (discolored compared to the patina on the rest of the blade, and maybe a hinge fracture or two). It’s hard to say without it in hand but I’d put money on that actually being a blade/knife and not a projectile. IMO. I grew up not far from you in SW Nebraska, been involved in quite a few archaeological excavations, and have a legitimate museum grade artifact collection mostly from the Colorado/nebraska/Kansas border area over the past 40 plus years. Great video and I use Gaia A LOT! Lol it’s a game changer bro🤙🏼

I'm not expert, but that spear head looks odd material. Like, an experienced napper (person who naps or chips tools out of stone) was experimenting with a different kind of material, testing it out for edge and utility. Maybe even improvised mid hunt to replace a broken one.
