I went to school with him at prahan primary in 1977 grade six. We were both in the Aussie rules team and most of the kids were actually Greek soccer players. We had a very good coach who managed to get those soccer players to win the regional grand final and then went on to beat all the other regional grand finalists. I hardly got a kick because I was in the back pocket and those Greek kids were so good ( and they used to call for the ball in Greek lol ) they would have the ball in the hands of the full forward in no time. I’ve always wondered if Ange ever picked up some coaching tips from our Aussie rules coach.

I think they thought they could just turn up and win 10 IAR and got the shock of their lives but the early signs were not taken on board. **NEW** MY CELTIC REBUILD 2021/22 🔥🍀🏴
In theory Celtic should have a decent budget to spend on the major rebuild required this summer, with a number of key players likely on the way out which will bring in some decent fees in return. In Part 1 we shall discuss who is likely to leave the club, as well as who I would sell seeing as it is my rebuild. Then we shall get on to the part you are all here for...signings!
Before we jump in I would firstly like to thank everyone who reads this, as I enjoy doing these when I get some spare time and if even one person likes what they read then it makes it worth it! If you only want the signings then you can skip to Part 2 which will likely be posted as a reply to this one due to the character length, however if you’d like my opinion on our current group then feel free to read Part 1 below!
PART 1 - OUTGOINGS ❌
The following are players who are likely to leave this summer, whether I agree or not.
Odsonne Édouard 🇫🇷 - Eddy has been sensational since signing for us a in mega-money deal for £9m from Paris Saint-German, and after spending four years at Celtic (including his initial loan season) it looks like it is time to bid farewell unfortunately.
Eddy will be a really difficult player to replace and with him only having 12 months on his contract we will get nowhere near what he’s worth in today’s market. The positive side is that we’ve had him for four seasons which double what we usually see our top players stay for!
If he was on a long term contract we could easily ask for £40m for him, however due to his contract we will be probably looking at £15-20m. Major loss. In my opinion we should have written him a blank cheque to stay.
Fee: £15-20m
Kristoffer Ajer 🇳🇴 - A brilliant servant to Celtic since arriving in 2016 and another who will be a tough act to follow. With Ajer there is definitely still room for improvement, however he has all the attributes to become a top player. Towering figure, pace and really comfortable on the ball, he will be a great signing for someone!
Sadly like Eddy, the big Norwegian only has 12 months left on his contract meaning we’ll get a fraction of his worth. If contracted we should be asking £25-30m, however Newcastle and Norwich have both been linked recently with an £8m move. Very disheartening.
Fee: £8-10m
Ryan Christie 🏴 - A great player on his day, not so much on others. Ryan Christie has represented great value for money after his £500k move from Inverness, however we’ve lost far bigger players and I can definitely find us a suitable replacement.
Another one who’s contract only has 12 months and will be sold in a cut-price deal. These contract situations really exemplify how awful our board is. These should be sorted out long before now! Instead we’re getting barely any money for our biggest assets!
Fee: £6-8m
Patryk Klimala 🇵🇱 - Not the last player on this list I begged us not to sign that didn’t work out. Tried hard but trying hard isn’t good enough at Celtic. Couldn’t believe it looks like we will actually MAKE money on this guy. Thank you New York! Celtic Fan 1, Celtic scouts 0...
Fee: £3.5-4m (Confirmed)
Olivier Ntcham 🇫🇷 - Signed from Man City for £4.5m in 2017. Looked like a very decent player until Moussa left, then he looked like he couldn’t be bothered. Has had an awful loan at Marseille where André Villas-Boas actually quit over the signing of him. Hasn’t really kicked a ball since.
There’s been talk recently Celtic have actually RELEASED Ntcham despite having one year left on his deal. I’m going to assume that isn’t true and that we can at least make a few million off of him as there is a player in there... however deep down it may be buried.
Fee: £2-4.5m
Scott Brown 🏴 - Captain, leader, legend. Three words to sum up Scott Brown’s illustrious time at Celtic Football Club. ‘Broony’ is moving on to pastures new at Aberdeen where he will join Stephen Glass in a player/coach role.
Broony’s ability on the pitch will be replaceable, however his leadership and voice won’t be. Who steps up to the plate as next captain? McGregor? Ajer?
Fee: Free agent
Leigh Griffiths 🏴 - Griff has provided us with some phenomenal moments on the pitch and is one of the best natural finishers I have seen at Celtic. Unfortunately issue’s off the pitch have hampered his performances on it, and it looks as if he will be leaving this summer. Thanks for everything, Leigh!
Fee: Free agent
Mohamed Elyounoussi 🇳🇴 - Elyounoussi has been on loan in Glasgow for the past two seasons and has performed very well over those two seasons. He will be a big miss however there is talk of a permanent move to Glasgow in the summer with the option costing £5m. Would you take him for that?
Watching Elyounoussi at Basel when he was tearing apart Manchester City in the Champions League, if you had told me he would play for Celtic in a couple of seasons after that I would have laughed you out of the room. The only thing I will say is that during his time at Celtic he has been played out wide as a left-winger, and for me he doesn’t have the pace for it. I prefer him where he played at Basel through the middle as a ‘No.10’.

Shane Duffy 🇮🇪 - All I can say is thank goodness. I didn’t want him when we were linked with him and I said the only reason there was any buzz about him was because he is Irish, and yet again I was proved absolutely spot on.
He doesn’t have the pace, ability on the ball or the athleticism to play at a club like Celtic. A VERY expensive mistake which easily could have been avoided if I was our scout. But hey, I’m not qualified, right?

Diego Laxalt 🇺🇾 - Looked like a promising signing with good experience at another massive European club in AC Milan, and international experience with Uruguay. Started off well but then his performances fell off a cliff.

Jonjoe Kenny 🏴 - Meh.

Now we go onto players I would sell who likely won’t be sold.
Greg Taylor 🙈 - I’m actually getting angry just typing his name. Is that normal? Probably not. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know how I feel about Greg Taylor. Hate is a strong word, but it isn’t strong enough for how I feel about this boy.
He’s SO AVERAGE it’s unbelievable! He can’t run, he can’t defend, he’s not strong, he absolutely under no circumstances whatsoever CANNOT take a man on as he has no pace or trickery at all! In fact, I actually watched him against Glen Kamara in the last game against R*ngers. When KT was with us our left flank was such a danger! He had pace and power in an absolute abundance! He would stand a man up, drop his shoulder and absolutely explode passed them with his pace and power. You know what Greg Taylor did against Glen Kamara? He ran at him. I don’t mean he ran passed him, I mean he ran AT HIM. I believe it was the 9th minute and he literally stood him up and just ran straight into him and lost possession immediately.
Awful, awful, awful player and he was at Kilmarnock for a reason. Rip up his contract, don’t care about money, just get rid of him ASAP!

Albian Ajeti 🇨🇭 - Well isn’t this awkward? If you go back to his Celtic signing video, you will see a comment from me telling us we shouldn’t have signed him. Ironically the comments on the post told me I was an idiot and knew nothing. Well, bet you’re all wishing you had listened to me now!
We should try and recoup as much of the £5m fee we paid for him back as possible. Celtic Fan 2, Celtic scouts 0...

Tom Rogic 🇦🇺 - This is an opinion divider. Unpopular opinion; I’m not a big fan of Tom Rogic. He doesn’t do well in tight spaces and he’s often injured. Good technical player but I feel the league is a bit too intense for a player of his style. I was pretty gutted when his £4m transfer to the Middle-East fell through in the summer.
Fee: £2-3m
Scott Bain 🏴 - Average. Very average. He’s 5’10 so can’t really reach into the corners and he was on the bench for Hibs behind Marciano. Never ever Celtic quality in a million years, he found his level at Dundee. Stealing a wage.

Anthony Ralston 🏴 - Same as Taylor and Bain, never Celtic quality in a million years. Get rid ASAP.
