Welcome back, Drew. And thank you very much for the narration! Glad I’ve got you considering returning to Mass Effect and The Elder Scrolls. (It was my plan all along, heheheh. 😈) In all seriousness, I know how much of a shift from my first story this was, but what can I say? I’m a sucker for sci-fi.
Also, I had kinda expected the sound effects for the gunshots to sound like present-day ones, but the laser noises are better by far. Very well done.
Oh, and I may or may not have a supernatural Western story in the works.

Space one was def inspired by Dead Space
Close, but I chose “Prey” as a main reference. Though, naming him “Isaac” was a slight reference to DS.

Actually, I take it back; in retrospect I did use a lot of inspiration from Dead Space as well as Prey. I’m guessing the stomping on the monsters was what gave it away?

Bit of worldbuilding/clarification: the TYR Marines are the general military for the colonies (named after the Norse god of battle, Tyr) and the Valkyries are usually called in for rescue missions. The LOKI Unit, as established, are the “black ops” branch. LOKIs are basically to this universe what Spectres are in “Mass Effect.” So, yeah.

The pickle story reminds me of a really stupid joke I learned 40 yrs ago in elementary school lol. A warning to prepare to cringe 😬
This dude took a pee on the side of the pickle store.
The owner came running out and yelled “hey you! If you pee there again, I’ll cut your 🍆 off!”
The dude just shook his leg and waved the owner off.
The next day, dude pee’s on the store. The owner comes running out and yelled “I’m telling ya, one more time and it’s gone!”
Dude in his ego, pees on the store the very next day. Owner comes running out and true to his word chops it right off!
A random guy buys a jar of pickles from the owner. Random guy comes back the next day and wants more. The owner said “oh you must like my pickles?”
Random guy says “I sure do!! Especially the big long hairy one!!”

Loved that first story! Had to stop listening midway through the second story because I’m not a fan of military sci fi but that’s just personal preference. Great narration as always drew!
Eh, fair enough. I know that after all the “Starship Troopers” and “Halo” clones, the genre can get a bit stale for some. Not sure if that's your reasoning, but in any case, thank you for giving it a chance, and for your honesty.
