This guy just played it in the most historic way possible. Getting shit on and not prepared, then winning.
soviet union was quite prepared though, they just couldnt stand against germany, italy, romania, hungary, finland and bulgaria at the same time in the beginning. In the end they won because they were actually much more prepared than the axis, they werent fighting in so many fronts, they had more resources and manpower, their troops were more resistant to the cold and they had moved some of their industry to the east of the urals
@@brokenwall3188 dont forget the winter, those white snows were scary
@@brokenwall3188they had basically no fallback prepared. When they ended up being pushed back their river defenses were far and few prepared. Most parts of it were basically undefended. So when Soviet forces came retreating across, if not killed beforehand, the axis forces could keep moving before any large defense was mustered. Just look at today's ukraine war. Even trying to push across that damn river is brutal, the Germans had a get out of jail free card.
@@brokenwall3188 True, the Germans were not truly prepared and underestimated Soviets. They almost won though if they could have gotten Moscow and they had Leningrad under siege already. They could have at least had peace talks with the Soviets
@@brokenwall3188 nah, even stalin insisted that germans are not going to attack at june 22 1941, found out himself.
Historical game btw

Okay but you forgot the continuation war front
Bittersteel: “Why get Rubber processing? You can just buy all the allied rubber!”
Me knowing I’m gonna invade the allies soon as I’m done with the axis: 👀
Fr bro
I'm the person that sent in the save! Thank you for saving it lol
For reference I have about 480~ hours in hoi4, and I wanted to try something new. This was my first attempt at max-buffed Germany. Normally I'd use 9/1 and 42 widths for tanks, but with the combat width changes in AAT I thought I should change it up
Great video Bittersteel, and thank you!
yap yap yap 🤓 youre ass
Nobody cares
Yapping at its finest
Jeez guess someone shat in these twos guys hot chocolate
why these replies so rude
I think if not for Germany buff this person would genuinely win on their own
I wouldn't agree weren't it for the fact they had a *good* air force
I remember forgetting how to use planes in hoi4. My entire game became Endsieg for Germany.
The ai felt like buffed because in just 6 months italy just fell apart to shreds. The Soviets have everything and the British is going crazy.
I dont think so, he looks like he REALLY CARES about EVERY single of his troops, he just doesnt make alot of divisions which are needed for eastern front
as their friend i can confirm they wouldnt
Vladivostok fell because for some weird reason, since AAT, Denmark proclaiming her independence triggers the guarantee that Japan has on Germany, and it drags Japan into the war against the USSR. It's annoying, I know. Now the USSR actually needs to put troops in the far East.
Great video, as always! :D
It happened the same to me😢
Alone, we stood against fascism.
Great. New DLC content being incompatible with older content.
@@tagus100Paradox Interactive at its finest
Paradox Interactive trying not to add game-breaking bugs with every new piece of content that they actually believe you should *PAY MONEY FOR:*
MIOs are real interesting because of how they function in a dual capacity. For the Soviet Union, you want to use the tank refurbishment plant as your producer, and then OKMO As your researcher/designer. The reason why you do this is because production bonuses apply without any of the negatives, and then you put OKMO to get the actual better stats.
How does that actually work?
@@SuperSmith Basically, for some reason production bonuses apply to the actual production, but stats only apply to the design. If it's possible, you get the best of both worlds. Just remember to research with the designer MIO, not the producer MIO.
@@colef2222 so you design the tank with the research MIO and then on the production line you add the refurb plant as the MIO?
you use the tank refurbishment plant to make a skeleton tank with a heavy machine gun, then when you get the gun you want you convert them all, its an easy 45 tanks at least
@@BobbiusRossius Ah that makes sense thanks
The last stand cheese move, is exactly how I imagine Hitler thought his “fortress cities” and his “no step back orders” would work.
"it looks like the tips are about to touch- AAAAGH" - Bitt3rSteel, December 16th, 2023
I guess he believed that air could hold, without infantry.
Man, you literally teached me how to play this game. I wouldn't be able to learn it and play it if it wasn't for your interesting disaster saves. Just wanted to thank you
I'm hoping it helps me aswell
0:50 you can easily beat Axis as soviet union with only 120 infantry divisions and 12 tank divisions (and decent aviation of course). The key thing is to not stretch the frontline and hold the pre-war border.
Russians and sailing ships to Japan has a history of not working that well :D
Bro thinks he’s Legit burger. Nice video as always
Appreciate it
@@Bitt3rSteel You are my favourite Hoi4 CZcamsr, keep up the amazing work :)
It really hurt when you didnt even take the south part of Sakhalin after the Japan war...
Always leave an excuse for future wars
Since I'm no HOI player, just interested in history, I wonder, if it's beneficial at all to keep some armies away from the front to act as "fireman units", when front starts to collapse or to keep it hidden from the eyes of the enemy (if it's even a mechanic at all), so that they become a nasty surprise during an offensive.
The answer is a bit complicated so bear with me.
No if it against the ai because they know where all your units roughly are so it is quite useless.
And mayabe it a valid strategy against player(seen it a few time) if you use it in conjunction with "ghost" units and like the only nation it is a valid strategy on is USSR because you have such a wide front large industry and manpower you can create a nested defense to bog the axis down while you get rid of the purge debuff. But then again those industrial output can be more useful for more tanks and planes so it not really good but usable.
Its only used online against paratroopers or naval landings on vanilla u dont need to do all of that
It's always good to have a reserve in case things go south but "hiding" units is not gonna make a difference with the ai. It's extremely simplistic and doesn't know how to perform basic strategies like effective use of tanks and mobile units. Only thing it knows is naval invasions. Lots and lots of them.
Not in single player because the game’s AI cheats and they can see your movements. In multiplayer it’s a good idea because players can use paratroopers to take cities
there is actually such a thing as too many units
if you're overflooding a frontline, sometime your units are gonna start to take attrition even when you're entirely supplied simply cuz the sheer amount of numbers there, in such cases yes, having them directly on the front is detrimental
the issue with doing it in any other way is that the AI doesn't know how to use paratroopers nor how to spearhead, it's like they make one big frontline order and press go(not really, they make many tiny ones sometimes even without generals, tag switching to an AI mid war shows you how atrociously they handle troops)
From The mountains and the planes come in 1000ths on the trians day and night there rolling in to join the fight
Cool Defence of Moscow Reference man
20:49 Bittersteel larping as a Soviet Officer
Love watching your videos as I am learning so much. I specifically interested in the way you are setting up the divisions. Lots of good info to take in here! - thanks!
I think with that first encirclement you literally replicated the ending of the battle for Stalingrad.
Your pronunciation of these Soviet province and city names etc. is really good.
Except "Sithomir"
Amazing video man do you do modded disaster saves?
Yes but you have to name the mods you used.
@@mariano98ify actual? i never seen him play disaster save with mods on
@@mariano98ify i had a game with the Pulchritudinous States bro i thought i was napoleon cuz i when to war with all of europe including ottoman empire and russian empire lost so hard
His forget to use Move Industry to the Urals, so OP this focus
看來就只是AI比較愚蠢,在你的電腦
否則他們就會建立起鐵路來進攻了,或是集中進攻補給點,甚至直接建立新的補給點
I have never seen the AI build Supply depots without a mod, but the AI does upgrade railroads regularly
I wash myself with a rag on a stick
Not even a terrible build, he had a really good Air Force, decent templates. He just didn’t prepare for elite Germany, that can push even 240 units fullly entrenched with CAS.
A max buffed Germany stands no chance against bittersteel’s max buffed encirclements
I haven't played much soviets, but the game I remember best I had only 5 armies defending, but I also had 60 mils on CAS
Bitt3rsteel uploads always brighten my day :D
I think the attached file is wrong. My start date is 1953 and not 42, as shown in the video.
Woops
I had to use 2 full armies to hold just the polish line, without worrying about Finland and with a full line of full supply and a minimum lvl 3 fort. I held it very easily even without air, but that line is smaller comparatively.
In my numerous times playing Soviet, I'm only once hold in the Stalin line. I like to brawls defensive battle in Eastern Poland. Also recently go against strengthens Germany, it's finally a good fight
Don't worry, Russia losing most of its fleet sailing to the East is just a tradition (aka, a repeat of 1904).
Amazing video man. This filled me up just right 😊
This was quite impressive ngl, especially due to all the buffs given to Germany
With spies, you want to stack them all in one place which raises the intel network quicker to 100%, which gives you the bonus quicker as well.
I need another co-op gameplay with Laith in my system
Stalin Thanks you for saving his ass once again
I haven’t played HoI4 in so long I’d have to completely re-learn the game but I still watch the shit out of your videos lol.
This is a HUGE reason why i only build military factories in the east of the USSR
The frontlines look very historical
