If his teeth were a structure theyd be the Shangralllah, or maybe the Tibeton temple of sacred monkeys. I couldnt agree with you more. His teeth have extracted the oxygen from my lungs and pulled water from my eyes. I gathered the family around our personal temple of the sacred monkey and we wept for hours about his beautiful teeth. In short im with you.

I was friends with Rhys Millen ... he setup my 1997 TT Supra (dyno's at 550 ft-lbs) when I a few months after I'd bought it in May-98. He would literally DRIFT through side streets in HB, Ca... and taught me some basics on the Road course... Streets of Willow. Great fun. I had to follow him in his GS400 after the day of time-trials ... he'd gone a route I didn't know... and would hit 110 MPH to pass cars. I couldn't tell him that I could hear my rotors grinding as I struggled to follow him. Those were good times... sure do wish I could go back to then with what I know-now.

    • @nashtvguy

I'll agree that the TT is the most dangerous, but Pike's Peak is likely the most dangerous track for cars.

    • @AveragePicker
      @AveragePicker Před 3 lety +6

I really hate the whole "most dangerous" argument thing. It's kind of a stupid comparison. Throw enough risk and enough time and enough participants at anything and you'll acquire death toll. I also don't think a death toll really defines the risks or dangers that well.
75-79ish have died on the Dakar Rally since 1975. (30 or so were competitors, and 40 something were crew/bystanders/journalists)
151-260 on the TT (Depending how you count which races) since 1907.
Pikes Peak has had 7 to 10 deaths since 1979.
6 have died running the Chicago Marathon
Though not a single event, in a 22 year time span 59 equestrian riders died.

I would need to go on a simulator to memorize such a complicated track. If you don't memorize the downshifts for every corner, and breakpoints, it would be an "uphill battle" (punny Haha!!). And every car you drive is a little different so the experience doesn't necessarily transfer over. That's the challenge of this Hillclimb.

If you've ever raced on dirt you would know that that happens all race long, you can adjust it with tire stagger.

The anticipation as I'm watching..... I was a tour manager for a band and when the guys were sleeping, I'm driving through the passes of the mountains like I'm confident.

Driving through/over mountains has become my favorite hobby the last few years. It all started when trying to coast a junk rv full of hippies with dying brakes and a questionable transmission over the western slope of Colorado into Utah. Using better cars, but still chasing those challenges

@@jvon3885 no, but I've seen pictures.
I hit the same route into Utah again back in July. Totalled my car hitting a deer outside Richfield. Towed it back to the West Coast to fix it....
I'll be back through AZ in spring if my ideas turn into plans

I wish they never fully paved the track in 2011. Those who set records on gravel, like Michele Mouton, had balls of titanium.

Yeah I went over it a bunch of times it's in frame 29:35 through 29:37 he catches its tail with the back end of his tire right side rear and that's what caused the smoke but it most definitely got clipped
