I gotta stop by and say “thank you” again. I just changed out the low beams today. Not easy. The passenger side was the worst. But finally got them. Thanks to this video. You’re the man, sir.
I changed all the lights already it work great thank you for ur tips .
@ThisGuyVlad, thanks so much for posting this! This is exactly what I want to do with my WK2, upgrades to LEDs. You made this look so easy, with great camera angles and step-by-step. Will be sure to add these items to my Xmas list and get to work on this soon! Thanks again and keep up the awesome work! I really like that Hunter Green for your WK2!
I loved this video, great job! Complete information with how to and brands used in less than 10 minutes. Great editing and use of time lapse. I feel you're honestly trying to help people rather than just creating content. Thank you.
Thank you Ed! Just trying to make the best content, that is also helpful.
Great video, the directions are clear and concise.👍
This was incredibly done. Thank you.
Awesome tutorial man, one of the most thorough guides to change out the bulbs on any car I've ever seen!! I was just searching for how to change the tailgate lights and fog-lights, but now I know where to go if I ever need to change anything else! Cheers!
Loved your video, you made replacing the lights so easy. Thank you for explaining everything so good. Your the man. It took me about 3 hours for fog lights, headlights, and reverse lights. I took my time because I wanted to get everything right. Also appreciate letting us know what lights to use. Thanks again.
You made the fog light replacement super easy! Thank you!
Just found your channel. Great stuff! Far superior to many of the others.
Great video, cheers!!!
Wanted to thank Vlad again for making this awesome video and add some tips that I think make this easier! First, wear gloves for sure because there are some sharp edges on the underlip of the car frame. Plus it will just save your hands in general. Two, use the stock o-ring and FLIP IT OVER, fitting the small lip of the o-ring into the groove. This creates the same gap size that is present on the stock lights and will make it much easier to seat the 3 prong light housing. Next, use a flashlight to see exactly where the aggressive prongs are (two prongs have an angled edge, one prong has uniform sides). It's literally like a puzzle piece and must go in this way. Once you determine its orientation, adjust the ring on the light fixture so the prongs match and the wire ends up pointing straight down when you install the light (screwing it in clockwise about 45 degrees). The LED must end up with the lights pointing towards 9 and 3 o'clock - this creates a nice, strong beam. If it's off too far, the light will scatter.
those Hikari LEDs are amazing, i put those in my semi and i literally can see over 1/4 when i turn the high beams on
Hey man, great video. No BS and I appreciate you letting us know what worked and didn't work. I have a 2021 Laredo E because that's all I could afford. Gonna upgrade the lights! Thanks.
Thanks for the video, I would not have done this if it were not for seeing you do it. You were gone to be blamed if it went wrong, so I must give you the acknowledgement and thank for success. 2 issues I encountered was the metal retainer that the LED locks into on the Jeep came apart . I used epoxy to glue the retainer ring back in temporally, but I ordered a new light housing of course. Second issue, i had to take the gloves off a lot to feel around the install and mon oh man did my hands get scrapped up. It was worth it for the finished product. Thanks again !
I'm happy it turned out well! I wish your hands a quick recovery, mine went through the same pain & suffering.
Very good ,perfect thanks😃
Excellent Video
Thank you for making this video. It convinced me to do the swap to LED. I went with your recommended brand. Thanks for the pro tip on the headlight seal. Fog lights were super easy. Less than 5 mins on both. The hardest part for me was clocking the low beam headlight bulb. I installed them today and they are awesome. But I don’t think I have them clocked right as I seem to have a dead spot on the driver side light pattern. It’s hard to do without removing the headlight assembly itself.
You're welcome! Clocking is definitely a PITA, as long as the shadow on your headlight is vertical, then you have them clocked correctly!
@@thisguyvlad17 Based on on your response I may have the passenger side then incorrectly clocked. Lol. Because the pattern on the passenger side is wider horizontal and not vertical.
Haha 😄 I've done that. You want the LEDs to face left and right, so that's what gives you the vertical shadow.
This guy is amazing. Thank you so much.
Just changed my low beams, fog lights, and turn signals all using the products/links you provided. So far so good (2018 GC Laredo). I must say the low light on the driver side was particularly brutal. DONT FORGET TO SWAP OUT THE GASKETS. It took me a sec to remember that and I tore up my hands trying to get it in with the oversized gasket.
Clocking isn't too bad, just remember what angle the OEM sits at before you unscrew it, and then align the 3 tab pattern on the new light to match the OEM.
Wear safety glasses when doing the fog light or you will get an eye full of dirt.
Thanks for the video!
This is probably why I couldn’t get the bulb to lock in. I’ll try swapping the gasket. Thanks for the recommendation. Hoping that solves the problem.
It’s crazy how much brighter the headlights are. I should have down this years ago.
Nice job
Nice & complete… will make the job easy… thanks!!
Hah! Tried this last week… can’t seem to get my hand in the hole in the headlamp to twist the light greet! Left the Jeep in Florida for a couple of months… will try again when we go back down in January. Might need to remove front grill.
Yeah, it's definitely a tight fit even for me. My hands and forearms were cut up and bruised.
Хорошая работа!
Very cool looking I'm plan to change LED light on my jeep too.
@@thisguyvlad17
Finally I got the headlight installed, however there are some black lines and shadows on both side when headlight is on, I think I may need adjust Beam to make it vertically when sit in the locked ring. do I need to set it to 3 and 9 clock?
That's awesome! Yeah, you would need to adjust the bulb to 3 & 9 for the best beam angle. I'm sorry, I didn't get a chance to mention that in my video.
Just ordered every set off the list except went for the Fahrens, $185 total so hopefully worth it! Going to be playing your video while doing the installation!
@@thisguyvlad17 Ended up taking the bumper off to get to the headlights lol all the lights work and look awesome except for the driver's side switchback. It'll work for a bit, then not work, then work again... ordered another set in hopes it was just a faulty unit because the other one works fine. Great video tho, very helpful and my car def looks better! I swear it added like 5-10 HP!
Nice to see another one in this green the only reason I haven’t gotten a new GC is cuz I love this color.
thank you for the video.
I like the hyperflash. Used Evo by Sylvania for brakes
I’ve been using the Sirius LED amber turn signals in my 2020 Trailhawk with no issue. I’ve left them on hazards for over 5 min and no hyper flash or overheating. Not sure if it’s the claimed built in resistor but they work great!
If it's a single color like amber or white there usually isn't any issues.
Thanks for marking a great video you saved my but I couldn’t get the passenger side low beam in and you said to move the coolant over and it made so much more room I could get my hands in there seriously thanks for great explanation of everything it really helped me out.
I do have question I got those lasfit brake light and mine were hyper flashing. So you were saying you the brand linked in your bio it didn’t hyper flash because I’m getting turn signal light also. Just wondering
@@androidcrazy555 Correct! Everything that I have linked is everything that I have personally tested & had great results with. I've had this setup for about 10 months now w/o issue.
How do I clip off the passenger side what clips? I literally wasted 5+ hours trying to change my front 2 headlights (my first car & first time) pls help.
Awesome build and I must change the brake lights to led's lol. I will go with the JDM because of the no hyper flash as well. I've read about having to install resistors but not comfortable with splicing into oem wiring at all and will go the JDM route for the reverse lights. What lift and suspension changes did you do as well? Really appreciate the video!
Thanks my guy! I tried to find all the LEDs that would work right out of the box & be painless.
I'm actually running a full Old Man Emu kit from RRO. So far its been great on & offroad. I wish I was a little bit taller, but I'm just gonna compensate with bigger tires.
Ha, I used to live in the complex literally across the st from yours 🤣 I'm in Colorado now but was in Vegas for 22 yrs. Good video btw
Haha that's awesome. We've been looking at moving to CO as well. What part are you in?
@@thisguyvlad17 longmont bro. If you do you'll love it here. Tons of mountains and places to take that jeep for sure.
Thank youuu. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video. Installation was pretty easy. I changed my headlight, turn and fog. But now why is my driver side headlight not work sometimes? Is it because of the heat?
That's strange. It could be because of the heat, but mine have been inside the housing for a 1 1/2 years without issues & I live in the desert. Maybe the ones you received have a bad LED driver. They come from China, so might be a bad batch.
Hey @ThisGuyVlad ! Thank you so much for the informative video!
If I may, I have one question/confusion - In the video you mention that we need 921 LED for the reverse and a 194 LED for the tailgate
However, when I check out the links in the description, you do link the 921 bulb for the inner tailgate, but for the outer reverse lights you linked a 7440/7443 bulbs.
So what exactly should I look for, 921 or 7440/7443 for the outer reverse lights?
Thanks again!
My apologies for the confusion it may have caused. The 194 LED is for the inside of the tailgate..
For the reverse LEDs you'll need the 921 for the inner reverse & 7440/7443 for the outer reversed.
Thanks
This is a hilarious video. Where dealership in Ohio. We thought this was a sitcom. We’re all sitting around the lunch table watching this video, laughing out loud. Thanks for the comedy. We love watching these type of videos where people watch other videos and try to make it there’s And then get commercials how hilarious.

Good morning! Have you tried the Blinking brake lights yet? Would like your opinion if possible! I have 2014 GC Attitude! Thanks
Hey, thanks for the vid...definitely helped me out. One question though, I didn't see anything about the inner tailgate brake lights, only the reverse. Did you change out the brake lights too? I couldn't find a way to reach them.
Inner tailgate brake is already a LED, it's not a bulb, more like a board.
is there a certain position i need to put the fog lights, cause it seems one is brighter than the other at night?
Vlad you are the GOAT for doing these vids. I'm a new '21 GC Laredo X owner and upgrading my stock lighting (interior & exterior) is in the near future - 100% thanx to your vid. Two questions I have 1) I'm in cold winter climate, MN. How well do your recommended LED's perform in sub-zero temps? and 2) in your links below, it appears that white fog lights and low beams are not found on Amazon anymore. Can you recommend alternatives? (also....I don't miss my '21 Ram 1500 Laramie cuz I can park in my garage again!!). Love my GC!
Thank you so much for your awesome videos! I have 2017 JGC limited, I changed the low beams to H11 LED, and it looks great! I have a question about the low beam housing rubber cover, if we covered it , where can the heat go? Shall we drill a holes or something? Thanks!
Thank you for your support! The heat really doesn't go anywhere, it just stays in the housing. You can drill holes, if you'd like to do so. I never did.
question... Did you have to to connect anything to the battery for the fogs or low beams? I see online some have a chip box to add as well? I didn't see you cover that. Great Vid. Thank you for your hard work.
Great videro really, but I have a question for you…the H11 Fahren fit inside the room ok, but fit also the electrical box???? And is possible the close the cap anyway?
Enzo, yes everything fits inside the headlight & the rubber cap closes as it would OEM.
It is actually a good idea to use THE SAME ENVIRONMENT when attempting to compare something. Hey look how much cooler this is (first shot is a vehicle buried in the mud, second is show room shiny in an environment that naturally enhances the beauty).
Hey man really love your build. I have a 2017 limited no air suspension. What kit did you use and everything?
Great video!
I just installed everything up front with Lasfit. The switch fogs are kind of annoying they go yellow then white when switching high beams on/off but whatever i can live with that lol
The high beams are absolutely amazing!! And no they don't scatter light everywhere. Light is exactly where it was with the halogens, just a lot brighter obviously
I didn't feel like messing around in the tight spots to change things out so I yanked the bumper cover and pulled the housings right out. Seemed to be easier for me to go that way 🤷🏻♂️
For your rear signals you should have got the Lasfit LEDs with built in resistors to prevent hyperflash. I have them in my car. Jeep Looks Great !!
I did and when I tried them they didn't work from day 1. These JDM Astar ones have been working for me for over 2 years now.
I love the brightness of the Lasfits but I've been using them and it seems they don't live that long. I just used some in line plug n play LED resistors to solve the hyperflash.
Great Video! Really saved me a ton of money instead of buying a whole new headlight set. Only problem I have is the turn signals. I purchased the ones u mentioned and they look great. But after installing them I get a message saying “Turn Signals Off” and get the constant flickering. Other than that everything else looks great. Also do u know good high beam brands?
Thank you and you're welcome! Yeah, turn signals are hit or miss. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I have another video testing 3 different ones, I don't know if you've seen it.
I personally, don't recommend running a LED in the HB. Reason is that the HB uses a reflector lens and LED light just scatters it, but feel free to change it if you'd like to with whatever brand you prefer.
Thanks a ton for this video, it helped a ton! Just did the Fahren Headlight conversion, and the Fog Lights.. Fog lights, super easy.. The Headlights on the other hand, I feel like I needed a Child sized hand to do this.. For my 2015 GC, the Passenger side was pretty easy to do for the headlight, but driver size, took some time. The bulb was completely stuck and wouldn't budge. Not sure I have the headlights clocked right, since it's hard to get them in there in the first place, but I can get to that another day. (Do you know what the pattern is supposed to look like, say on a garage wall?)
I'm happy to hear that it was helpful. Regarding the pattern, you can reach me on Instagram @thisguyvlad and I can better show you the pattern.
Any issues with the low beams like
Flickering or random shut offs ? I installed a set of leds they would shut off after 2-3mins installed resistors and made it worse. End up
Using my old set of underground canbus hids from my ram but they also have a mind of there own at times
I notice you have light pods and i think i saw a switch panel in a different video, are you gonna do a break down on these? or what is there a link for the mounts you used for the pods?
I'll have a overview video about everything on the Jeep currently. The ditch light mounts are from Valkyrie Offroad.
What’s different about those taillights from stock? Are they aftermarket or just have some tint on them? Love the lights and the green jeep btw. Bang on👌🏼
Great vid! I think I noticed you having changed out your shocks? I have 2015 Limited and it takes the smaller bumps bad...skips over them then kinda darts in the back end. Has anyone noticed this with theirs and how did you fix it if so. thanks.
Thanks Scott! I do have new shocks, I have a suspension lift kit from OME. How many miles are on your GC?
Yes absolutely. It feels like at times it's riding on rails as it kinda kicks side to side. But this also seems worse after a tire rotation. I have 2 Cooper tires in the front and I hate them! The rears are nice A/T toyos. Had a blow out so I only replaced 2.
I just spent 2 hours on replacing the passenger side low beam with the Farhens. Man you didn’t mention even that is too big for the housing. It just wouldn’t fit! I think I was finally able to push it in somehow right before I was about to give up.
They do fit, just barely though. There's different Farhens, with larger heatsinks that will not fit.
Hey I was wondering is there a separate bulb for the daytime running lights I can’t find any info on it
great video very helpful so the leds are plug and play?
Yes they are. Some people have had issues, so far on my end everything has been working without issue.
The Fahren lights seem to come with a separate little Canbus thing that connects to the headlight lead, but I don't see that on the lights you installed. Which model did you use on your H11's?
Mine had it too, you just put it in the headlight housing. There's enough room for it.
I highly suggest anyone that does this replaces EVERY bulb in the front of the car. The low beams are the hardest and you'll already have everything apart. The high beams are super simple, and so are the front marker lights. Its looks much better if u upgrade all of them. The high beam LEDs are great for those dark roads. Also, the fog light / headlight bulbs he suggested are polarity sensitive, so check they work BEFORE you reinstall them. I bought the same brand he shows for all my fog lights, low beams, and high beams (All white for me). It looks so much better.
Fair warning - I've never had led headlights bulbs like these last more than a few years. Despite the "led" lasting basically forever, the electronics behind them usually fail after a few years. The last set I used in a previous car, I opted for the fan less type that just had braided ribbon wire as an external heat sink (one less thing to fail not having fans). They fit almost anywhere (I even have them on my motorcycle). Just be forewarned - dont expect them to last forever, cause they probably wont. Have to see how this brand holds up. Will be doing all the rear on my jeep later today.
@@gsdlkfgmsdlkggsdglkngsl1607 did u get my first reply? Cause I dont see it posted. Yes, I ordered all the same bulbs for the headlights high low and for the fog, just in the appropriate size base. All from Fahren just cause I knew they would fit from one of the videos. Turn signals i got white and amber switchbacks from Lighsta, and I wouldn't recommend them if you live somewhere cold. Everytime it's cold they act up and dont blink right. Try a set from JDM instead.
@@kctyphoon i didnt see the other one but ty for replying. I was only going to do high/low/fog/reverse to be honest. I just wasn't positive both high and low used the same bulb, seems weird to me
@@gsdlkfgmsdlkggsdglkngsl1607 i dont remember 100% if they use the exact same size/base or not, but i think the hi and low beams do. I had to look that up when i bought them. When i said i used the same bulbs, i meant the same “color/brightness/model from the same manufacturer- for all 3 hi/low/fogs so the colors and brightness all matched perfectly. You’ll have to look up on a vehicle bulb size chart to confirm - but I THINK its the fog light bulbs that were a little different. I have 2 orders in my shopping history, and one bulb specifically says “fog light” in the description. If i remember right (cause its been a few months) I’m pretty sure the hi and low beam use the exact same bulb - but its the type/style of headlight lens and reflector thats different on the car - which is what makes them light the roadway differently - and not the bulb. For some reason all my responses arent posting on here.
@@kctyphoon hey i got this one buddy thank you. So it looks like the same bulb it just seems like the housing is slightly smaller on the low beams (at least for the set i got). I also did notice a different design on them. I really hope all the colors match up, i did go with 6000k white for all 3 so i think i should be good.
My JGC has the premium lighting group with the bi-xenon HID headlights. The headlights are slightly yellow and I prefer white. I’ve read it’s difficult to convert HID to LED as it’s not a direct bulb swap as it is with halogens. What do you recommend?
If you have a 2017+ JGC just upgrade your current D3S bulbs to either OSRAM CBB D3S amzn.to/3dXtGhs or Diode Dynamics D3S bulbs.
I added HID bulbs from Amazon. They are super white, 6000K color. Originals Oskrams are 3000K so a little more yellow. D3S bulbs cost about 40 - 60 a pair. Go local and pay $149 for 3000K. Not easy to change, takes about an hour.
With the switch backs you used did you need a resistor to prevent hyper flash?
The ones I used did not need resistors, but other viewers have had issues with them. I have linked a different set of switchbacks that I'm currently testing and they are working as intended.
Hey are the amber fog lights pretty bright? Really liking the looks of them!
Any recommendations for high beams bulbs or light bar?
Hey Luke, currently I don't have any recommendations for High Beams. I haven't found a set of LEDs that are just as good or better than the Halogens.
very good))))
Wondering how these would look on my 2012. Got all the fronts in HID and LED but needing to do the back still.
I have a 15 wk2 Laredo without the upgraded headlights. Is it possible to do this with my style headlamp assembly?
I've installed the Fahren low beams however there's a subtle flicker. When I'm driving I don't notice it at all but when I come up behind a car at a stop light, I can see my light kinda flickering.
I had the same thing happen on my 2016. They flickered while driving. I traded the vehicle in for a 2021 two weeks ago, but gave the dealer my original bulbs and disclosed the flickering issue. Curious why this was happening.
Interesting, it's hard to say what's wrong. My only guess is that the CANBUS driver/anti-flicker module connected to the LED is faulty.
Great video. Which Fahren H11 did you install. There are several to choose from, 14000lm to 20000lm? Also, did they flicker or gibe an error code. If so, did you buy a canbus decoder? I have the 2018 jeep grand cherokee. Many thanks
Thanks Nick! I went with the 14000lm, no issues when I had them installed on the that GC. I recently switched out to some different ones on our newer GC. czcams.com/video/RZ9f6Huswh0/video.html
How did you adjust the LED headlights to the 3 to 9 position? I installed Sealights in a 2017 GC because they worked great in my 2010 GC. The Sealights are in the 2 to 8 position and do not work well. Did you adjust the Fahrens before they were installed or after?
The Fahrens have an adjustable base, so it took a few tries to get them right. Basically, it's take them out, adjust, check, take them out again, adjust & check again. It took me like 4-5 tries to get it right.
I bit the bullet and removed the front bumper cover and the headlight assemblies. The Fahrens were easy to clock with the assemblies removed. I put the Sealights in the high beam and they work great. For some reason, the high beams are in the 3 to 9 orientation. My low beam is great now. Keep up the good work!

Do you have to orient the fog lights at 3 and 9 as well in addition to the low/high beams?
With the Fog LEDs that I used in the video they clocked correctly once installed. I didn't have to do any additional.
While you were under there. Did you notice if it would be easy to access the screws for the fog light bezels. Looking to change mine to chrome and nobody has a video/thread on it. Thanks.
I did not, but I'll take a look. DM me on IG and I'll send you some photos. I have a lightbar to install, so I'll be under there again.
What lift kit do you have? Great video as well going to upgrade the lights for sure
Lift kit is from Old Man Emu (OME) struts, shocks and Medium Duty springs.
does anyone know if the grand cherokee from 2015 needs a resistor? or anti flicker?
There is an easy access in the wheel wells in case no one wants to take all that other crap off.....very easy to get to the lights that way.
Great video 👍 Are the Low beam lights still good? Any flickering? Switchback turn signals still good also?
Thank you!
Thank you! Everything has been great. I did change out my Lows for a lower color temp for better visibility.
Went with the 55w HID kit 6000k bulbs on my jeep, had to install a relay too. To me it looks much brighter than the LED lights.
Good choice! HIDs are the best option for visibility in projector housings.
@@thisguyvlad17 hey mate can you suggest any good HID 55w/ 6000k brand please for low beam

@ThisGuyVlad any issues with the blinkers not staying on? I did the swap with all the bulbs in the video, and the blinkers work for signaling but are not constantly on.
That's interesting, no I've never had that issue. They work signaling, but not on normally. Do they turn on when you switch it to the parking light mode?
@@thisguyvlad17 I would have to check. They work when I use them to signal, and they flash if you unlock/lock the car, but if I use the headlights (I use auto mode) they don't come on. Just low beams
When he said “see? That didn’t take long. Now shut the tailgate” I swear I thought he was gonna tell me to shut the fuck up 🤣🤣🤣
Bro that passenger low beam is a bear!!!
Where did you buy the mount brackets for the led cube lights ?
Do the fahren headlights still work as drl during the day. I read somewhere swapping to led for the low beam can cause issues when using them as the drl.
I've actually had the DRLs off since the day we got it. I'll turn them back on to see, but I've had a lot of people by the Fahrens and so far nobody has mentioned any DRL issues.
Love these videos bro! My only concern is that, all the links for the leds you put in, amazon says it does not fit my 2020 jeep grand cherokee altitude, should i be concerned?
No I wouldn't be, it's pretty much the same vehicle. Amazon database doesn't update or take every detail of the vehicle into account.
The only major difference from mine 2017 to yours 2020 is your infotainment is upgraded, besides that it's essentially the same vehicle. Unless you have the fancy lighting package.
@@thisguyvlad17 no fancy lighting lol, thank you sir, looking forward to upgrading these lazy halogen lights!
Which high beam bulbs would you recommend to match with the low beams?
Hey Josh, to match the lows you'll want a color temp of 6500K & make sure they have an adjustable base, so you can get the correct beam pattern.
Hey bro sure hope you see this! I followed this with my 14 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I replaced all the lights but after I did that my mirror blinkers started acting up. Blinking fast like they were going out. Any idea what I can do to fix this?
So I had another subscriber mention issues with his mirror blinkers, I don't know the fix for that. I recommend that you would have to change the settings through like JScan or AlphaOBD, I will have videos on using the apps to make changes in the GC.
Thank you for this video. I really like the look. I had a question though. Do you get any "light out" warning messages with these LEDs? Are resistors necessary for this?
No resistors needed, no warning messages. I spent a couple weeks testing a lot of LEDs.
have you experienced any issues with heat? Especially with those headlights? LED headlights will have significantly lower light output as they heat up.
What do you think about the zevo leds? I had them in my old Lexus and loved them
The ones from Autozone, I thought about using them. I have them in my 4Runner & are great in that. I don't know about the GC. The CANBUS system for the lighting is really finicky, you can try them out & see how it works out. I'm curious to know.
@@thisguyvlad17 Yep those are the ones..lol. I will get them in once the Illinois cold weather passes and ill let you know and post a before and after video. 👍
Awesome! Just a tip, test the lights with the vehicle running & not running it acts differently when the charging system is on.
The rear brake/turn signals you provided are causing a hyper flash in my 2014 Jeep grand Cherokee limited, is there a simple fix besides buying new bulbs? The hyper flash drives me nuts
What brand did you go with for your tail light tints?
For the taillights I used the Crux Moto kit and for the rear fogs & 3rd brake light I used this. amzn.to/3cqMRPk
Did you have to add resistors for the front and rear turn signals? I have a 2015 grand Cherokee
