      Thanks, mate. It's great to hear you are back after 37 years out. Was a real struggle last year with a lack of long runs. Just try to keep it real and honest with all the highs and lows. And full race , I think people like to try spot people they know. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and somehow found it motivational, lol. Hope you have a good race. You got this

    Watched your video from last year as preparation for my first London (and first marathon) this year. I also went to the same loos at about 12k despite needing to go when I entered my wave! Thanks for posting and well run!

      Thanks for watching and hope last years video helped you. That why I post full race videos, as people get to see the full course if they choose to, see family and friends running or watching. And the ups and downs I have while running the marathon. As I find when you run it you cant take everything in and miss so sights etc. This way I can also look back and enjoy.
      How did your run go?

      @@thewingitrunner 3:49 which was ahead of my target time of sub 4. Made the rookie error of setting off too quickly but held good pace til 35k and then had to do a bit of run/walk for a couple of kms before shuffling home. Got the bug now though and want to try again!

    We watched your video, great to see the course from a runners prospective, inspiration for my other half as she is running it this Sunday, although she'd love to be as fast as you are, but unfortunately the last few months training haven't bee quite as intensive as she'd hoped, so maybe winging it too Lol if your running this year, have a great one👍

      Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. No i will be watching this year, but I will be filming. As I'm doing New York later in the year. Just tell your other half to forget her main goal and not go out at the original planned pace. And go 20/40 seconds slower. Get to halfway, and if she feels good to then up the pace. And just be ready for when she hits the wall.... as that's when it's mind over matter and willing yourself to the finish lol. Wish her all the best for the race

      @@thewingitrunner After some changes, she'll now be running in a yellow/mustered coloured hydration pack over a pink running top, as she's now decided not to run in her club colours Lol and most likely after taking your advise, she'll now start with the 3.35 pacer instead of the 3.30 0r 3.25 and see if she can make headway on that :-)

      Hope you really enjoyed watching the London marathon, thankfully bright and dry, but a bit windy, she felt great on the day and held her pace up to 20 miles with the 3.25 pacer, however she did hit that wall after that and slowed quite a bit, but was still happy to come close to 3 hours 30 mins, look foreword to seeing any vids you have of the event :-)

    Just found your channel, and watched this over the course of the day, seeing this, really impressed how you managed to get over the finish line considering you was not 100%, 💪👋Hopefully i be lucky and get my name pulled out from the ballet, and be doing the same as you, but a lot slower 😁.       @@craigb9415 oh brilliant. Well you will love and hate the marathon and then love it again. Biggest thing is make sure you take fuel on board when it's offered. And if you grab the cups pinch it at the top and then it's easy to drink. I should be going back to track, so will be track sessions getting uploaded as well

      @@thewingitrunner I ran in London in 2021 and did it virtually in 2020 and 2022.I can't wait to do it in London again. im raising money for pancreatic cancer in memory of my dad who ran in 1987 and 1989. xxxxxxx

    Just watching a few sections. You should be proud of that considering not being able to get a consistent block of training. I hope you get back to full fitness and really smash the times that you are truly capable of. Shows the level of fitness and strength you have to post such a good time. All the best 👍

      @@thewingitrunner I thought I heard you mention B12 deficiency. I am an NHS health care scientist working in a department that does B12 testing routinely. If you are getting injections levels will pick up very soon and will definitely give you a boost 👍

      @@thewingitrunner Just watched the second half and finish. Even more impressed by your efforts and pretty consistent splits. To get so close to sub 3 without the training and post covid is outstanding. Are you doing London next April. I have applied in the ballot.

      @@julianwaldron4348 thanks mate. Guess I could of started much slower and hope to have strength at the end for the sub 3. But it's all in hindsight now. I have the good for age time from Boston. But I think I will run a fast half abroad instead and do Chicago in October 2023

    Thanks for this,great course reccy before this Sunday! Could I ask how many maurten gels you took on this and was it enough?

      Everyone is different when taking gels. But I tried to take a gel every 5k. Took 4 to 5 gels and tried to drink at each station. To lesson any chance of cramping, etc. But make sure you take gels before you require them so they have a chance to get in your system. What time you looking for?

      @The Wing It Runner trying to hit a sub 3, ran 3.11 Oct 21 but couldn't remember the course. Going for a gel every 30 mins so similar 4-5 gels also using the maurten CAF100. This is my 2nd Marathon so not enough experience over the distance to know what's best just yet (nutrition plan has been fine in training long runs though - just curious how it compares to actual race day at MP for the full distance)

      @Khristofu okay, cool. We'll when you take a cup, pinch it, and make a spout. This makes it easier to drink. Start easy and don't worry if the first few miles you are down on time. Try on to weave in and out all the time wasting energy. Just know you will hit the wall at some point and it's about time management and how well you deal with it. As in dig in and keep pushing and get that goal. I wish you all the best, it could be a hot one. So please make sure you drink enough
