Nice to hear. I'm not a steely Dan fan but happy for those who are. Having said that It seems overkill having all 7 albums be UHQR's. Being boxsets if you were to get all 7 they would take up a lot of shelf space and being such highly priced editions the cost really adds up. The exclusivity and elitism of it seems almost reminiscent of ERC or MOFI one step. These would've been fine just being standard gatefold jacket 45 rpm versions like what they did with the Doors. Also many feel the clarity vinyl isn't much different from a well done standard black QRP record as evident by all those who got defective copies of the Kind of blue UHQR. Still good for those who can afford it I guess and thanks for stating the sources for each album.
I must agree. They’re slowly tipping into gimmick/way overpriced territory. And those boxes are just too much. But, I’m not a SD fan. For the SD superfan this is great news. I guess.
they're releasing $29.99 33 1/3 single platter versions too, though they are from digital files of the Grundman new masters -- I don't think these will be directly available from AS, but Amazon already has a pre-order link for Thrill. I also wish AS will offer a non-box version

This is a motherlode back catalogue for sure, especially the earlier releases. 'Mastered from the original master tape': six magic words. Thanks Chad; you're delivering on your promise of great things to come. I would have been happy to see these in a box format like what AP did for the Doors and CCR catalogues. I'm hoping for James Gang (Joe Walsh era) and Steppenwolf boxes, as I've heard you mention that you were sent the masters for the 'best of' compilations you released.
I'm tempted to lay a bet that the next announcement will be Dark Side of the Moon... but reissuing *seven* Steely Dan LPs in UHQR format truly is huge. The strain on my wallet is immense, but, bless you, Chad! 🖤

I am not a collector but I am a music and vinyl lover. I don’t own multiple copies or original pressings or rarities. In fact I make an effort to only buy new pressings. Not being able to buy Steely Dan’s first 7 albums in their catalog on new vinyl, except Aja and Gaucho, has made my heart hurt. I just preordered all 7 and look forward to listening to them over the next year. Steely Dan are an important enough band to me that I had to do this! Thank you Chad. You now have a new lifelong customer!
Elliot Scheiner created amazing 5.1 surround mixes of the last three albums under the supervision of Becker & Fagen about two decades ago now, it would be nice to see those included. The 5.1 DVD-Audio editions are long out-of-print and quite difficult to obtain today. Scheiner also created a 5.1 version of the “Pretzel Logic” album that was never released at all. This is the perfect opportunity to finally get that out there!

I'm late to the party... I recall reading that "Two Against Nature" was in fact ALL digital and that they actually recorded to hard drive at the time and mastered digital. Am I wrong here? I think that it is probably the greatest sound digital recording of all time. I just bought the QRP LP. Can't wait to here it when it get's here. :)
Will these be available on regular vinyl? I preordered UHQR Aja since it's my favorite, but genuinely hope the rest will be available at regular 45, both for my wallet and feeling I don't need all 7 on UHQR

chad you do not know how much i appreciate you spending a shit load of scratch on getting the rights to this music, You can obviously see your passion for the music and your desire to share these records to the world by making them the definitve versions in sound quality and in artwork,,, I know that this has to cost you alot of scratch , and i bet some times you barely break even, but the fact that you are doing it for the love and passion speaks volumes about your character..

Even tho I do have the OG ( which I always lean towards), and the speakers corner, since I am done with listening to MUSIC, I would buy these as well for comparison fun...my own contribution to the economy to grow.
I’m not into Steely Dan but I have no doubt Chad and AP will do a fantastic job with these. I also like how he is transparent on the process with no room for misinterpretation. That’s why his label is the best going today!
$125 to $150 is just too much to ask from the average person. These should be released as regular $60 pressings and in larger quantities. I really want them but I have to pass.
I have to agree with some of the other comments, I would rather have this pressing on 33, and not 150 a piece - and a regular stouten jackets would suit me just fine ( not these boxes. We should not have to pay 150 each for these (IMO). The Doors & the Beach Boys re issues ROCKED> I know the Doors was 45 rpm but 60 bucks and I bought all of them from Doors and Beach Boys. I would probably be more inclined to buy all of these of they were done like the Doors & Beach Boys ( 33, please). I even bought Pet Sounds both Mono and Stereo ( I would not have done that if they were 150 each )- I would have passed and sought clean orig pressings.Thanks for these updates Chad!!

These as UHQRs are a bit too rich for my blood as only a casual Steely Dan fan, but I'm sure there will be many pleased with what I'm sure will be the definitive releases of these titles.

Dittos here -- I jumped back in hardcore in early 2020 (Covid lockdown was to blame!) - collected all 1st pressings in NM condition for those first seven SD LPs (I think I paid under $15 for three of them....got lucky....and a NM actual 1st press Grundman AB-1006 Aja for $20). Couldn't really imagine what Chad's announcement would be here - it would have be great enough hearing "Aja" or "Can't Buy A Thrill" coming out on UHQR....but for him to do the whole catalog?? Still blown away......
Holy crap this is amazing news. I have been judiciously searching for decent original copies of ALL of these over the years and the ability to get UHQRs of the WHOLE CATALOG is just stunning. I appreciate Chad going over the source and mastering as well. These are going to be amazing. Also love that these are all 45rpm out of the gate so no "33rpm now, better 45rpm later, so buy both!" nonsense here.
I was soooooo thrilled to see the SACD release with this!!! Woooo hoooo! I came to believe ASI/AP had given up altogether on SACD. Now… if we could ever get those last 13 Prestige out, money would flow quickly from my account for them :) Still believin’…..

Chad, you are killing us with the $150 usd price. Please find some way to bring the price down to at least $125 because the economy is going into the shitter and these are getting a little hard to justify. That being said, I know these will be outstanding and I'm looking forward to hearing them.

My mom bought me my first record player from Sears for my highschool graduation a few years ago. The first thing I did when I moved away for university was start hunting for vinyls online and I found a guy who was trying to get rid of his old collection, he'd let me come over to his garage and take 10 records for $20. One day I had picked out 9 but I couldn't decide on that last record, so I asked my new friend and he said Steely Dan with no hesitation. I'd never heard of them, but said okay and he pulled Babylon Sisters from one of his two dozen milk crates and handed it to me. I went home, smoked a joint, dropped the needle down and that was it. I must've played that record 500 times over the next couple years, and I'll always be thankful for that random guy from craigslist making that offhand suggestion in his garage that day.
What do they get for these? Never even heard of productions like this. I am severely depressed for not having correct gear or situation even to consider buying. Irrespective, a v. exciting project. So this company gets the masters on a loan contract? Why the limited release? Is that just marketing or is there some physical limit to the numbers of pressings? Damn glad these guys exist.
Have mercy, Chad: you're emptying my wallet faster than I can fill it! Seriously, thanks for that you do to give us the best possible records from their original analogue sources (rather than digital copies thereof like some companies...). I know they're not universally appreciated, but I like the boxed UHQRs, so keep 'em coming: I have space in my record racks to fill!
Hi Chad this is great news I’ve been hoping for this announcement for some time. I recently bought the last two SD releases on 45rpm - along with KOB and Are You Experienced? UHQRs - all fantastic products. My main problem is that living in the UK to buy these 7 albums (and yes I do want them all!) is going to be extortionate - likely to cost £1200+ whichever way I do it - I have bought from UK sellers and directly from Acoustic Sounds. There is a huge market for these products in Europe, have you looked into getting a proper European distribution set up for your products? Keep up the great work Cheers
We have distributors in Europe, but we will always service our retail customers first - and a lot of these products are limited, so the distributors will get what's left last. Do whatever you feel is more convenient to you. Thanks for supporting our products.

I agree.. it’s just overdone packaging. Just do AP style on tip on jackets. That would be so nice.. and 33.1/3 please. No 45!
I have to agree with some of the other comments, I would rather have this pressing on 33, and not 150 a piece - and a regular stouten jackets would suit me just fine ( not these boxes. We should not have to pay 150 each for these (IMO). The Doors & the Beach Boys re issues ROCKED> I know the Doors was 45 rpm but 60 bucks and I bought all of them from Doors and Beach Boys. I would probably be more inclined to buy all of these of they were done like the Doors & Beach Boys ( 33, please). I even bought Pet Sounds both Mono and Stereo ( I would not have done that if they were 150 each )- I would have passed and sought clean orig pressings.Thanks for these updates Chad!!
They will be released on 33 RPM by UMe and we will do them as 45 RPM after we sell out of the UHQRs This will be a while

Chad, your transparency and integrity here is absolutely commendable and a model for how everyone in the audiophile reissue business should be. These as UHQRs are a bit too rich for my blood as only a casual Steely Dan fan, but I'm sure there will be many pleased with what I'm sure will be the definitive releases of these titles.

Dittos here -- I jumped back in hardcore in early 2020 (Covid lockdown was to blame!) - collected all 1st pressings in NM condition for those first seven SD LPs (I think I paid under $15 for three of them....got lucky....and a NM actual 1st press Grundman AB-1006 Aja for $20). Couldn't really imagine what Chad's announcement would be here - it would have be great enough hearing "Aja" or "Can't Buy A Thrill" coming out on UHQR....but for him to do the whole catalog?? Still blown away......

Holy crap this is amazing news. I have been judiciously searching for decent original copies of ALL of these over the years and the ability to get UHQRs of the WHOLE CATALOG is just stunning. I appreciate Chad going over the source and mastering as well. These are going to be amazing. Also love that these are all 45rpm out of the gate so no "33rpm now, better 45rpm later, so buy both!" nonsense here.

My mom bought me my first record player from Sears for my highschool graduation a few years ago. The first thing I did when I moved away for university was start hunting for vinyls online and I found a guy who was trying to get rid of his old collection, he'd let me come over to his garage and take 10 records for $20. One day I had picked out 9 but I couldn't decide on that last record, so I asked my new friend and he said Steely Dan with no hesitation. I'd never heard of them, but said okay and he pulled Babylon Sisters from one of his two dozen milk crates and handed it to me. I went home, smoked a joint, dropped the needle down and that was it. I must've played that record 500 times over the next couple years, and I'll always be thankful for that random guy from craigslist making that offhand suggestion in his garage that day.

I know they're not universally appreciated, but I like the boxed UHQRs, so keep 'em coming: I have space in my record racks to fill!

Hi Chad this is great news I’ve been hoping for this announcement for some time. I recently bought the last two SD releases on 45rpm - along with KOB and Are You Experienced? UHQRs - all fantastic products. My main problem is that living in the UK to buy these 7 albums (and yes I do want them all!) is going to be extortionate - likely to cost £1200+ whichever way I do it - I have bought from UK sellers and directly from Acoustic Sounds. There is a huge market for these products in Europe, have you looked into getting a proper European distribution set up for your products? Keep up the great work Cheers
We have distributors in Europe, but we will always service our retail customers first - and a lot of these products are limited, so the distributors will get what's left last. Do whatever you feel is more convenient to you. Thanks for supporting our products.
