- Blue Angels at Winter Training Monday 2-12-24. Warm and nice today with two flights at Shade Tree. For unknown reason the Blues didn't fly the afternoon flight today

Every time I watch the Blue Angels fly, my heart swells with pride for my Navy background! They are truly the “Best of the Best”! Go Navy!!!
Yes they are!
Just cannot take my eyes off of these videos once they start. Glued to the screen as this so really cool. Well done pilots!
I've been lurking, rather than posting, around your channel , Mike, watching the amazing progress the teams been making over the last couple of weeks. They're looking seriously impressive, obviously working really hard, both over the field and out at Shade Tree.Full props to Lt Cdr Lee with rgard to the slow/sticky deployment of her jets landing gear- not only is she an excellent pilot, but also has extensive knowledge of everything snd anything wrong with it ( as well as how to fix it) because of her experience as a maintainer.Fantastic. Keep these gorgeou films coming , Mike, you're an amazing Angels historian.😊
Thanks Mia
Being retired Air Force, with my true love of the Thunderbirds not withstanding, I have to give the Blue Angels the thumbs up 👍. Why??? Because, in the back of my mind, I know they can land on the chaos of a carrier, which I don't think the Air Force does much.
Yeah, they don't land on carriers, but they sure can fly with the best of them, and they land buttery smooth, too. But, those navy boys and girls with their beefy landing gear really slap that deck and grab that 3rd wire with some serious conviction and authority.
you would be surprised, the USAF actually does fly off the carriers. Its mostly Growlers the USAF flies, but they also fly other aircraft off the boats too. I knew a backseat growler RIO and his pilot was USAF. Sometimes you'll get foreign allies flying our aircraft as well off the boats as a TAD for a bit doing training and whatnot.
I love #1 calling the Cadence over the Comms,, Just Awesome 🦅
Was out there on the 13th at the east towers. Wonderful. Thanks for the show Blues!
Awesome video as always Mike. The Blue Angels are looking good day by day. I am glad to see you all got through those earthquakes, too. Nickolas
Thanks
I'm an Airforce vet, through and through USAF and the F-16 is my #1 dream aircraft to fly/fly in. However, the blue angels with the C's and super hornets have always been the best!
Idk, I wouldn't mind seeing a 16 in blue and yellow🤔
Love my little town being such an important place to the blue angels. Even a grocery store has a photo of them framed at the entrance here
It is special to the Blues.
I just Love watching the #1. Flight Team in the World. I will watch the Thunder Chickens too but I have no love for them !!!! Fair Winds and Following Seas !!!! Go Navy !!!!!
amazing formation😍
The precision borders on the supernatural!
Can't wait to see them in Sanford FL.😍💪👏
Thanks Mike.
You're Welcome and Fast
When I saw the cover screenshot of the video, I thought one of the jets’ landing gear was stuck. 😳
I think that was intentional, to get more people to watch.
Thanks
Saw them often when I was in the Air Force and TDY at El Centro NAS in 68 to 72.
Looks like they are doing the airshow more than 2 days a week. Looking forward to seeing the T birds out there soon!
Mike, thanks again
You're Welcome
00:10 I'm stuck replaying that yaw turn to center .... awesome..
Did anyone notice that right landing gear problem in retracting?
My guess is either mechanical problems or maybe it was overspeed
That was what got me looking at the video was the thumbnail of it. I wonder if the pilot was aware that his right gear hung for that long or if thats not a big deal, like it happened on occasionally
Thumbnail
I didn’t notice
It retracts slowly on takeoff
The dog was enjoying that as much as we were 🐶
That's some superb capture, very nice audio, just well done.
Even with the dude talking to his girl, ... the dog barking!
Thanks
I'll be down there next Thursday, Friday, Saturday for both Blues and TBirds.
Thanks Mike. Appreciate what you do. Stalin's right gear came up a bit slow. Hmmm if it's gonna get stuck, tis better stuck down. 🤔
Yeah, I was wondering about that. Without knowing the Hornet's hydraulic system, I wonder if that was a malfunction to be addressed or if it's within specs. Either way, it's got to keep him busy with the rudders.
Stalin is LCdr Amanda Lee. She joined the tam last year and flew the #3 Right Wing position. Now she's the slot #4@@speckitis
The Main Gear Retraction System is (should be) coordinated, not one side going up before the other. Different retraction actions creates asymmetrical drag to the last leg side... which Stalin does NOT need as she moves into the Slot position. You can bet the Maintenance Crew(s) wil be spending some time on that Aircraft tonight!!
Also, again, all 3 #7 jets flew in that formation! =)
Real risk of a gear overspeed there too..
@@kevinwhite822#3 is Left Wing
Awesome stuff! May I feature a formation takeoff in one of my upcoming episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video. Keep up the good work!
What do you want to use it for?
@@MKBLUES1 I‘d show a 30 second or so segment to my viewers in one of my weekly epsiodes. Would you be fine with that?
@3MinutesofAviation Will it be original with Witman in the corner? If so, yes, this time.
Of course, I‘ll keep the name in the corner. Thanks!
Slot pilot had slow R main gear retraction at 11:40. Hyd shop has a little work to do after that hop. Easy day for those guys, they’re all professionals and the best out there!
def looked strange!
Thanks Mike.. See you one week from today "Tuesday " at 30.
You're Welcome, I will be here
Great Video! can i use this as part of my series? you will be credited in the description and vid!
It does retract but slower on that one side… on the Diamonds 2nd take off you can see it
❤💙
If you're looking for the thumbnail, start at 11:36.
How did you get the radio conversation in the background?
Wooo they got low at the bottom of the squirrel cage
Wonderful video, Bro! I want to use it in a video for my channel; is it okay? We'll give you credit in the video.and my description includes a connection to your original video. Regards
Awesome video, may I use it in one of my upcoming videos? I will give credits in the video and description as well :)
What do you want to use it for.
@@Mr60mikes aviation clips
@@aviationinminutes Once if you don't change it.
Send me a link so I can see it.
IMO the BEST display team in the world. SIde note........The Port main on the first F18 to land looked a little more sunken down?? Only marginal but thought I could see the difference after they landed???
Nice
11:43 that ain't right that jet will be down when it gets back. Worked on those birds almost ten years.
Evening Mike
Evening David
Can you just imagine flying stripped Super Hornet? All the power at the least weight and basically zero drag.
Going back to the fleet would be like flying dump-trucks. .
What are the numbers they call in the landing pattern? I'm guessing headings as they rotate in? Or angle of descent?
SPEED
They stagger their speed by 20 knots as to not get to close during landing
Hi Mike, can you tell me approximately what time they are flying? I’m going to be in EC a few days. Thanks
8:00 and Noon
@@MKBLUES1 thx
@@MKBLUES1Mike are they doing the full shows on Thursday this week?
The Blues practice over the field on Thursday@@xradrd
@@MKBLUES1 thanks Mike! 👍🏻😊
Does the smoke coming on and off individual planes in the diamond mean something related to where the pilots feel they are, can someone explain?
Exactly. When a pilot is out of position parameters, they smoke off. This can help during review to know that the pilot does or does not recognize relative positioning.
When the blue Angels first major show this year in 2024 ok can someone please tell me the date or dates of flying and acrobatism. AND SKILL AND PERFECTION FROM HIGH CLASS TRAINED PILOTS IN THE NAVY AND MARINES.
#4 SKIDS into the slot
Looks like EL-Centro
aa liiiiittlllleee moooooooreee poooowerrrr
Amanda’s right main at 11:43…..! “Oh shit…..” Way to stick with it! Possible that the airstream affected the gear in that side-slip.
most likely a partially clogged retract restrictor on the right main landing gear or a going bad main landing gear control valve. Drop check will definitely be in the works for the airframes work center
Thhey flew Monday at 3:30PM
Can someone tell me why the Blue Angels do not have the SMOKE coming from BOTH tailpipes??
I don't have a for sure answer as to why it's only on one side, but I'd image it would just be overkill because the two streams would just merge into one big trail rather quickly. The smoke comes from paraffin-based smoke oil that is pumped into the exhaust by a nozzle, perhaps it has something to do with the location of the oil tank, and that side is just a better path for the oil lines.
What are the odds they fly over the field Wed. the 28th?
Low
Why are the smoke systems not functioning correctly?
What do you mean?
flight lead calling out makes this amazing to watch... should tell everyone how important this narrative is...This is not Christopher Lloyd :)
How come there are two number 7s?
The squadron has 10 Rhinos, two of which are foxtrot models, normally carrying the number 7
How'd everyone make out yesterday? Shaken not stirred? We're thinking of you all...
huh?
Pretty shaken. 4.0+ earthquakes might not be considered severe unless you are within a few miles of the epicenter. We had three in that range within a half hour.😳
@@tbprod5 Imperial Valley had a 'swarm' of quakes early Monday.
@@firehoss51 oh i didnt know that
@@tbprod5 Sounds like everyone is okay. We are usually there this time of year and out there every day if we can, but this year we had family stuff and had to miss. The rain & now a few quakes. What a year to miss!
Where are the blues training?
El Centro CA
Does anyone know why the lead talks so weird? Is the lead only making power and stick inputs while elongating words? I’ve always wondered about this.
It's a sing-song similar to marching cadence. Inflection, tone, and speed of the call is as important as the call itself. In learning Boss's inflections and variations in the input calls, the wingmen will learn how much to "get after" a certain action.
The lead can say something like"a little more power" 6 different ways, to indicate how much and how long, and the others know how to respond. That's how well they know each other.
Sounds like a porn movie in the headsets but they rock!! Whatever it takes !! Adding P o w e r, a little more p u l l!! American legends!! Thank you for the video!!
Great flying but horrible dude on mic.
You mean the comms?
Couldn't watch it anymore for the narrating
Turn your audio off
What "narrating?". 😂
what a DIK job
Slot pilot needs some extra stick time.
And you probably need some more practice behind that bar you work at.
picture click bait sucks.
yet the channel uses image for thumbnail-that has nothing to do with the flights being shown, like the hint of disaster should be added to the pure talent of these pilots! why show a plane with nose gear down and one of the mains? It had nothing to do with the content! Rather than show case the talent witch sells itself to anyone that has ever gazed into the sky, lets try to get more views with misleading thumbnail. Whoever made that choice-Your choice sucked and is what should be expected from a channel showcasing paper planes from a balcony. its a dis credit to the talent of these dedicated pilots. Plenty of good content without watching yours that plays on possible or past mishaps. Was in not only a couple of years ago the lost a pilot? Come on man!
11:43… slot pilot right main hangs up. Pretty weird. I’ve never seen that before
The liberals from California and 49ers are not the Best But the Blue Angels and Cree have always been awesome in the sky every time they fly u know yes ma'am or sirs.
Correction the correct spelling is Crew.
