@@YodgeeGaming-wv1dk they literally have footy games in the middle of summer. Basically all year round, the nt works like cricket with it seasons. The reason they won’t do an nt team is cause no other state will see the premiership again 😂 if they wanna make a nt team they’ll have to have a policy where 2/3rds of the team have to be white fellas just to make it fair 😂 and only the whites will complain about weather, aboriginals, you think they care? I’ve been told by aboriginal elders, women who would teach the kids and this is what they’d pull, oh it’s too hot in the classroom to study but you’re just fine to play footy in direct 40 degree sun barefoot on scolding hot sand
.. but because of pc culture, you can’t be this blatant when saying stuff like this without some soft doodle getting offended. But that’s why they don’t have a team, and why they probably never will.

    • @brendonwatt6098
      @brendonwatt6098 Pƙed 2 lety +1

Nothing wrong with them being on the Gold Coast. It’s the nickname that needs to change. What a joke, the suns? How poxy and whack, the mascot is embarrassing, that’s why no one wants to barrack for them or go to games, look at the whack jumper designs. Start calling them the emus, kookaburras, fk now the bears ain’t around anymore name them the koalas even, something with appeal, let alone the designs you could make from those. Idc that they’re based on Gold Coast qld where it’s sunny. That only shows how corny the people are who came up with it.
That’s the problem. It’s the same with gws regardless of on field success, oh yeah our nick name is the giants, so our mascot is a bloke in a bigger mascot suit
.. how pitiful, Leigh matthews named them this, yet sounds like a 4 year olds answer. And greater western Sydney giants. What a mouthful. Could just called them the western Sydney stars, which would’ve made sense in hindsight with how many stars they’ve had at the club, and would’ve made sick jumper designs again. No finesse.
None of these clubs need to move. They all have their plans and processes for success which they’ll all eventually reach. All the other stuff is an easy fix, if they do what I’ve said above. It may sound trivial, but an average mascot and jumper/logo look will attract minimal numbers regardless of success achieved.

@@YodgeeGaming-wv1dk mate I have NITV and have watched games be played during the middle of aussies summer, which is December to February. And if you don’t then what’s with nt doing cricket /nba system with premiers of 2020/2021 seasons then? Literally read up on Bill Dempsey after hearing about him in hall of fame and saw this for myself when he played for Darwin buffaloes with his stats being written out in the example I provided above? And what’s the dumb thing I said? And what’s Darwin and gold coasts weather got to do with it? What research must I do? Aboriginals are use to the warm weather, they wouldn’t prefer playing in Gold Coast just because of degree temperature when they can play right near home where all their family is and represent the nt, that was the whole point of the initial comment, you claim it wouldn’t happen cause no one would want too, which is just stupid and ignorant, and then told you why they don’t have an afl team, what you think they couldn’t find 30 players who wanted to rep them? All the aboriginal footballers would put their hand straight up, and that’s when it goes back to my point as to why they haven’t got one, you can’t make a rule that only so many aboriginal players can be on the list of an afl team based in nt where it’s predominantly aboriginal based, at least as far as their numbers go, and with that, you’d have a full list of freak aboriginal players, just a straight out aboriginal team, and as I’ve said, if that happens, every state can say goodbye to winning a premiership again. Yeah the person who wrote the comment may have been talking about the suns being the northern suns and playing split and you said they wouldn’t be keen on that, you may and probably are right on that, which is why they don’t get many games happening there and even more to the point of why the nt doesn’t have an afl team which is what I was making. And it’s easy to understand if you use common sense. So I don’t know what you’re getting at with your comments but they’re useless in my eyes cause I have nothing to research, I do know what I’m talking about, and I can confidently say this is true or at least logical based on the information I’ve provided and the obvious fact that there is no nt team. Tasmania is a proud traditional state and would only follow the Dark Green gurnsey. And Launceston is 2hrs away from Hobart (without stopping for coffee breaks), which is probably not much different than some regional Victorians take to travel to regular AFL games. The problem is that the highways in Tasmania aren't safe double lane freeway standard and there will never be a train.
The saving grace is that Hobart makes up the bulk of Tasmania's population growth now and it's booming. Don't get me wrong. I want this to get the green light as much as anyone but we have to be realistic and let Hobart have the overwhelming majority of home games. I agree standalone won't work - but I don't think Ed's proposal will either.
The problem with this issue is you can't talk about it rationally, because it always gets broken down to "passion" - and there's certainly plenty of that there. But realistically it's a small population spread over a fairly large area and people get sick of travelling large distances. Are they getting full crowds at the current Hawks and North games? I'm sure they argue that "but that's not our own team", but if they're all that passionate about football and demanding more surely 4 or 5 games a year at low capacity grounds should be selling out. A slight side (and I know the populations are very different especially in football preference) I think the AFL has it almost right in Canberra - 3 games at Manuka, against different opponents each year. Enough games to have football aficionados wanting to go to all 3, but not so much that they decide "if I miss this week, there's another in a fortnight...".
In 4 games so far in Tas this year, Blundstone arena has averaged crowds fewer than 7000, UTAS has averaged under 14K - both have a capacity of about 20K. What changes if those games were a local Tas side? Maybe a couple sellouts in the first year or so. Part of it is dwindling interest, but a larger part is that the more accessible something is, the less people worry about missing out.....so you're forever putting off going until "next time".
If both Tas and the AFL are serious, I think they need to negotiate the exact success criteria, and have a contingency in place in case things don't work out (including that if it falls apart, it won't be revisited in the immediate future). Tas (presumably) doesn't want to be left with a barely used stadium, but I'm guessing the AFL doesn't want another hungry club to feed....

updated plan, using the same concept while changing a few key things
1 it would be the Kangaroos. 2 bases will allow Tasmania to fund a VFL and Devil programs with a victorian base. It will bring more economic opportunity with the ability to attract Tasmanian and Victorian sponsors. and the idea that a club will only play in Melbourne and Tasmania, is because this league isn't home and away play league. How about 10 games in Tasmania and 8 games in Melbourne one game in Geelong and then 3 games on the road. this then doesn't give an unfair advantage. and there will still be one home game in Melbourne they can be played at Norths home at Arden Street Oval, with temporary stands much like the f1 grand stands. judging they get 13,000 per game. this means the heritage is still there while the ability for Tasmania to is welcomed.

You keep the big 4 clubs and add Geelong and Hawthorn to that. Leaves the Dees, Saints, Roos and Dogs. Could look at merging these 4 into 2 clubs. That will leave 8 Melb clubs.

Obviously you don't support either the Dees, Saints, Roos or Dogs, so you couldn't really care less about warping their respective futures. The Saints and Roos are vulnerable for sure but they each have potential to climb out of trouble given the proper direction. It wasn't that long ago that the Dees and Dogs were in trouble aswell and while not two of the bigger clubs, they each have a solid and stable fanbase now.
The Suns are the team that should be relocated to the Apple Isle. Hardly anyone cares about them, including some of their own players and staff it seems. Just rebadge their location name, mascott, guernsey and song. And overtime, the club will become mostly fully local.
The NT is too small. If TAS has been denied a club for so long mostly because it's "too small", then there's no way the even smaller NT should be granted one simultaneously aswell. Would be better off giving a 3rd team to Perth. Its 2.1million should be large enough to sustain 3 clubs by now.

The combined roster would also guarantee immediate short term success to embolden the new team and its supporter base to embrace the transition. Everything worked out pretty well for the Brisbane Lions (3 premierships within 7 years), only this time the team gets to stay in Victoria.

If going off Eddie's theory of merging something into Tasmania, I'd say relocate the (failed venture which is the) entire Gold Coast club down to Tassie and simply rebadge them with the Tassie title (song, mascott and uniform included ofcourse). The current crop of Suns players and staff will eventually retire or transfer to other clubs, and the club will have become for-the-most part, fully local by that point. It's a subtle way of gutting the Suns for good, which most of its club players and staff don't seem to have much loyalty for anyway.
It might not be as special as Tasmania getting a brand new club for itself but ten years down the track nobody will recognise the difference nor care anymore.

Dear Ed. If this was Collingwood going through what North Melbourne is going through how your fans except this. Good idea, but if Tassie wants a football team then they need to keep trying with the AFL.

Collingwood fans turn up to the games whether they win or lose..

Wrong, Eddie, wrong. Tasmanians don’t want a Melbourne team playing “home games” in their state. Standalone team or nothing.

Tassies want own team, end of story. I wouldnt want North being any part of a Tassie team, why don't you just scrap North and have one Melbourne team

So, this “new” but not relocated team is in the national competition- doesn’t ever travel to WA to play, never has to face a hostile MCG, Adelaide Oval or SCG and never has to go to South East Queensland. They just play at Marvel and then hop over to their brand new Tassie indoor stadium?
