  • Proper maintenance of your plantain fields would determine how well your plantain yields would do at the end of the day and eventually lead to the field producing optimally.
    This video is therefore aimed at helping plantain farmers to get their fields back to its optimum production capacity
    Do well leave a comment if you have any questions on the production of plantains.

    This was quite insightful. The method of clearing round the root of each plantain sucker before application of herbicide is a great technique. Thanks CAH for sharing😊🙏

    Thanks Chidav. Your channel is quite informative.
    Please does it mean you have to replant plantain sucker every farming season on each stand given that in most cases its expected that only the mother plant will be allowed to stand for maximum yield?

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  Před 5 měsíci +1

      A mother plant and a daughter sucker is allowed to stand. You won’t be planting every season. Just one time setup and the rest is management

    Well done sir. This is quite insightful... I enjoyed watching the clip. Please I need to know if 2 plots of land is good enough to start up a successful plantain farming. Stay blessed as I anticipate your quick response sir.

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  Před rokem +1

      2 plots if that's what's available, can be used to start. But it won't give you the numbers to compete well on a larger scale.
      But it's a good way to start too

    Please how will you prevent plantain from falling during storm

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  Před rokem +2

      It's starts from Land preparation.
      You need to properly dig well during planting. And also ensure you have well populated field, in order for plants to serve as wind break.
      And also, you can have trees round your farm boundary to serve as wind break.

    Pls how can I manage newly planted suckers

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  Před 2 lety +1

      How to manage your newly planted suckers is by ensuring that the suckers are not in competition with any other plant. Ensure field is weed free, ok.
      Then, adequately manure to the plants

    Which soil is best for planting plantain?

    What will u do if fungirs
    atacks ur farm

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  Před 2 lety +2

      Well, the first thing you should do is to ensure proper maintenance practices into order to prevent any fungal attack, and ensure you use a disease free sucker when planting.
      Now, if you've done this and you still have a fungal problem or attack, you would need to do a combined treatment and one of the things you do is to ensure you trim out all the dead leaves or infected ones on the infected plantains and after which you apply fungicide to try to control the infection.
      And in severe cases, you have to uproot the plantains, so as to prevent further spread of the disease.
      But note, that the best treatment in the first place is to ensure that your field is well maintained, as well as follow good agronomic practices, as this would prevent any form of disease outbreak.
      Let me know if this was helpful.
