I was just looking at borescopes this morning. Do you realize that your setup has more articulation than the $1300 borescopes on the market which only articulate to 240 degrees? Well done indeed! Perfect for viewing burnt valves which cause misfires or compression issues. Thanks!
Thank You! I just bought an old Chev Suburban. Today I found it has one cylinder with no compression. This is exactly what i was going to search for,,before i tear the cylinder head off the motor. All other cyliders are 160 psi. I bought the truck 'as is'... Thank you again for showing this setup,,am going to rig one just like yours,,
GREAT trick for the articulation. The only notes I'd add are that in order for it to work, you need to make sure the engine you're using it on have both enough bore and stroke for the camera head to be pulled around. I'll probably be trying this soon on one of my autos.
Thank you for this! I have a 2001 Volvo V70 that had a water pump bearing failure that caused the timing belt to jump. I want to look at the pistons and valves before I go to all the trouble of removing the head. I've ordered one of these cameras and will use your ingenious idea to modify the scope to look up at the valves inside the cylinder. I will provide a link in my video to your video so you will receive credit for the idea. Brilliant. I have also just SUBSCRIBED to your channel. Cheers!
Thank you so much man I was looking for one that can look straight back up into the spark plug. I am drilling out the hole and putting an insert on broken threads in my spark plug and I want to see the shavings come down and also how far the insert is going in to the spark plug! Just to let you know there are a whole bunch of accessories now for borescopes mirrors side mirrors 45 degree angle mirrors check it out on Amazon but I couldn't find one that can look straight back up and I just never thought of doing what you did so you're the man!
Thank you my friend. I am glad you like it. This modification works very good. I did make improved version. you can find part two on my channel. Thank you.
Great video sharing your idea. One issue you may have is if you can't get the camera to straighten out in order to get it back out of the spark plug hole. That would be my biggest worry.
Ramon You need a job at aeswave They sell leads and accessories that you probably invented. Check out their catalog. Right now I'm shopping for accessories for my fluke 233 multimeter with the wireless detachable head. Kinda like the ponoma wire piercing probes
Great video! I"m wondering how long you can bend it in that position before it doesn't"t work? How hard is it to remove in that bent position? I love being a mechanic, because you can become creative and sometimes you"ve got to think out of the box!
You could also tape that length of copper tubing you showed in the video to the camara's cable & threaded the pull-string through it. Brilliant concept, though! Scope should work with windows live moviemaker, from what I've been seeing on youtube.
LOOK in the accessories of the scope. MANY INCLUDE THE MIRROR that snaps on that looks up. It is an under $12 for 15' or so and includes manget..hook to pick things up and a MIRROR that looks up
mine has a mirror on it as attachment, your set up works way better! There are apps on google store you can use and get a very sharp image on a tablet...
see if you can use your scope on Android devices. You will need a USB adapter and download a boroscope app from the google play store. Look on you tube for your specific phone.
Got it . Sorry I should do that. Thank you my friend. www.amazon.com/dp/B00STB0EW6?aaxitk=3Y9E7sNFVDOYHOW7.hd22g&pd_rd_i=B00STB0EW6&hsa_cr_id=6339605620201
rusco321 I use whatever is on sale at Autozone since I use their reward program. So when I get $20.00 coupon I get 5w30 oil and filter. Generally I would change it every 3000 mil. I have this car for four years now and had to replace water pump twice. It's a big job but I done so many so for me it's not that big of a deal. It's been good car so far. Thanks.

our borescope can articulate 360 degrees.
I have one word for you my friend.

Yes it is a nice idea. I used mine today to inspect my muffler from the inside. I used the standard webcam app that windows 10 has and it worked great
Great idea.
Well done.
Tam Couch Thank you this is one of my most favorite diagnostic tool. Works great. Cheers my friend.

Very ingenious
Smart. Man!
Very clever.
Pistons, valves, camshafts, crankshafts, GDI issues - can't wait for solid state battery technology for electric cars.
Good idea ! Did you improve on it ?
You should do a video where you use a pressure transducer on intake
aroyaldaniel For intake I prefer first look sensor.
Shouldn't the piston be at bottom dead center, if anything? If the piston is TDC there's no room for the camera.
Well played sir
Matthew Brogan thank you sir
Thanks it's on my wish list I will get one how can you go wrong ? you almost need your own tool channel 5 stars
SuperJoes70 This is very good scope for the money and with little modification works even better. Cheers my friend. Thank you for nice comment.

Metal Maniac thank you. This set up works very well. Very affordable and easy to make. Cheers
Can this be done in a diesel engine? because it doesn't have spark plugs and if yes is it easy enough?
see if you can use your scope on Android devices. You will need a USB adapter and download a boroscope app from the google play store. Look on you tube for your specific phone.
Thank you for tip my friend. I will try it. Cheers
Thanks Ramon, would like to buy this could u put in link to eBay or Amazon cheers sandy

To record try vlc player it worked for me
It's Spielberg 😁
What kind of oil do you use in that 2.7 liter? How often do you change it?

I would NOT call that high resolution. It looks like it was found in the toy aisle of your local department store.
Jay Ryan I don’t remember calling this high resolution scope. It is inexpensive options to inspect engine cylinder. Thanks for watching.
He called is “good” not high.
