In my opinion, more parents should be like you in the way that you teach your kids while it's okay to be in the box, also allow yourself to think outside of it and weigh your options. I have alot of snails in my backyard while my neighbours come pick them up to cook and no one thought of growing them till they are rare. So I took it up as a challenge and now I have about 50 of them. So I sort for kind of cage. I love your work but how do you clean up there pup from that thing?

In the event that one has to treat the wood with, maybe, engine oil, will the oil smell affect the snails negatively?
I know this is coming very late but an organic way of treating wood is apple cider vinegar mixed with a little water and olive oil. You dip a sponge inside this mix, strain and wipe the wood. The apple cider smell dissapears in a couple of minutes and it is non toxic.

I give them water using two bottles of water
I turn the soil before giving them food
Most market snails aren't handled well when they are picked up and this causes them to get stressed
It is advised to buy them from known snail farms as they are well taken care of and fed well. Thanks
