    Wait a moment didn't the more scientific Angara clarify that the "artifacts" are a memory storage which can only be used by Angara.
    So it's basically the same thing as the prothean memory shards and not reincarnation.

      @4onen Před 3 lety +3

      That's fair enough, except the memory shards need to be contacted to get up-to-date memories. Taavros remembered Zorai's resting place explicitly, but was given an artifact that can't have gone with her (or it would never have been found to give to him.)
      Thus, Zorai didn't touch the artifact after getting to that room before dying, so it can't be solely the artifact's effects. Possible relationship with the Angaran bioelectric field? Some kind of supra-storage beyond the Angaran bodies themselves, possibly tied up somewhere in Meridian or other Remnant tech?
      Lots of fun speculation, given the knowledge that they're an engineered species.

      I was thinking that there could also be some form of Genetic Memory in it as well, Individual memories being encoded into DNA and passed on to their descendants.

      Genetic memory only applies to thingsl ike instinct and impulse. Fear is the same between people, but what they fear can be molded by their experiences, not passed on.

    These guys are like the Bene Gesserit from Dune. They can access memories from previous lives within their bloodlines. Unlike the Protheans, who can gain knowledge from Psychometry.

      Wind Wind IMDB has Javik's actor Ike Amadi listed as "additional voices". As soon as I heard Jaal's accent, I figured that Amadi would show up as an angara, but I'm not sure whether it's this one or not.

      Malcolm Swoboda - Depends, are we more then our memories/experiences or not?
      In my humble opinion most people would likely say that we are more then just our memories (i dont have any hard facts for this, its just a hunch), from that point of view, then no genetic memory would not be the same as reincarnation.
      However if you belive that all we are is the memories and experiences then yes, it would be the same as reincarnation.

    • @Killzoneguy117
      @Killzoneguy117 Před 7 lety

      Genetic memory is a crock of shit and doesn't make any scientific, or biological sense. More likely, either the Angara were engineered to transmit memories and experiences or their artifacts are actually similar to Prothean memory shards which store information and interface directly with the subject's nervous system. Granted, also doesn't make much sense but consistent with the lore.

    • @midtown3221
      @midtown3221 Před 7 lety

      Well, take this article with a grain of salt: www.extremetech.com/extreme/245304-researchers-increase-storage-capacity-dna-214-petabytes-per-gram
      I also remember a news report on TV (grabs salt shaker) that scientists recently encoded several petabytes into some DNA.
      The whole "genetic memory" thing sounds like one hell of a longshot, but I'll say that for memory shards too and Javik's ability to "see" you through touch. Ofc being science fantasy we can just accept the free pass for Bioware to make up the crazy shit we're familiar with. However, how it was executed and portrayed felt very cheap. I don't mind a lot of things so long as (among other factors) it's executed well. How it was handled in the game felt very slapdash and I'm displeased with it. As a narrative tool, it has risks and rewards. As an actual science...it sure as hell sounds like a crock of shit along with other shit that we may someday understand better, if at all.
      Science. The first to admit it's wrong and that it doesn't know yet.

    • @Killzoneguy117
      @Killzoneguy117 Před 7 lety

      Javik's sensory ability struck me as a bit of a deus ex machina. Bioware didn't want to waste time explaining how he could communicate with everyone and on bringing him up to speed over the events of the last two games so "surprise, he can sense everything". It's also silly that this ability almost never comes up again. Like he never otherwise uses it in the game, or in combat. Shepard's never like "Javik, sense your surroundings to figure out if an ambush is imminent" or anything like that. It's just kind of a wasted opportunity in my honest opinion.
