  • Grappled with rampant violence and poverty, Haitians bitterly ask when stability will be restored to the Caribbean's most populous nation. It's been one month since Haiti's prime minister resigned during widespread violent unrest. Reports say a temporary government is ready to take over. The incoming administration's main task will be to set up new presidential elections - and to rein in Haiti's rampant gang violence.

Haiti is still an independent nation, we don’t need a temporary government dictated by the United States. The majority of Haitians already choose their leader and it’s Guy Philip. Since after 1915 the United States have been nothing but creating turmoil in Haiti.

There is two different kind of Haitians. They have there. They have the ones with money that have no problem at all but unfortunately it’s horrible for everybody. I used to live there. It’s just corruption it’s just crazy. It’s a beautiful place. The first time that has to be done is to restore security in Haiti. Right now the government of Haiti in practice does not exist, and has no control over the land. (That’s why I personally now call Haiti a “land” or a “collapsed state” rather than a state). Then there has been to be a serious security training and anti corruption problem, as in Haiti the gangs are directly tied to political parties. Then there can be elections. But to try to have full scale elections in a land where there is no State is like trying to drink solid food.

The last President, that's been forced to resign, came in to do exactly what you suggested. Instead, he tried to seize power for himself.

International intervention could make the situation worse. Lack of jobs has been identified as one of the problems Haitian citizens suffer, particularly among youth. Instead of bringing in foreigners who do not speak the local language and who have no background in Haitian history or culture, hire the local Haitian youth and train them as Haitian police. This would give them jobs, and solve two problems with the same investment, rather than causing more problems and more expenses. Every country trains their own citizens to be the police. Foreign police forces are seldom welcome very long, and they are soon vilified as the new enemy.

When it comes to Dominican Republic and Haiti, I feel that the Dominican Republic is part of the blame for what is going on in Haiti, because they began to deport many Haitians that were born in the Dominican Republic to Haiti and without any type of documentations and that created a big problem for those people and for Haiti. Those people, (many of them) only know how to speak Spanish and not Haitian and then without a birth certificate and nothing to show for, imaging what that persona is going to do. The Dominican Republic embassy along with the others embassy create this problem in Haiti that is still going on for many years.

The constitution of Haiti says any Haitian who is born in the Extrageron belongs to Haiti. Nationality is by blood (any Haitian who is born in the Dominican Republic is Haitian. His country claims it. It cannot give nationality to a Haitian. It would be violating its constitution.) You are only speaking from the ignorance

The reason they’re poor is not because they get less rainfall. Stop lying to ppl. We all know why and it’s because most of the population are brothas unlike the Dominican Republic

Haiti will fully recover once the Haitian finally realize that they have to kick out for real the imperialists haters in the country and in the island in general.

I like DW and I hope your news on Haiti is objective and good but I have to say your coverage and obvious bias against Palestinians makes it hard for me to take you at your word on anything. Please redress this and start being objective in your reporting on the plight of the innocent millions in Gaza.

The best thing Haiti could possibly do is to bring Wagner or Russians. Once they are on the Hatian soil, Americans and the west gonna give more importance to Haiti
