  • **Please note, I no longer use and cannot recommend Dixie Belle Paint products due to highly questionable business practices, contract violations, and unethical treatment of artists and retailers that led to mine and numerous others resignations in late 2021. Please see the links below for more information. I have chosen to leave this video content up for learning purposes only, but highly recommend considering other products when trying to achieve these same techniques. There are too many good product brands on the market to support a brand with these practices. I've included links to my most used options below

I Love the banter your husband & you have back & forth as it’s very entertaining 🤣

Beautiful piece! I have used rice, instant coffee and instant iced tea for texture/resist! It’s FUN to see what you get! Zero control!

It's always so fun watching you work. And Sean is great too! I'm going to refinish our ugly vanity and bathroom cabinet as well as a free standing cabinet i bought on marketplace. But everything is vertical! I think I'll mix the salt into the paint with a bit of plaster of Paris. Thanks for giving so many of us the courage to try these fun and (hopefully) beautiful projects. You're an inspiration!

I can imagine this was difficult. I know how you love the smooth perfect finishes. I am that way too. I admire these pieces but I know I would still be trying to make it perfect or smooth. I love when other people do this!

I use sea salt too! So glad I have SOMETHING in common with you. Insert quirky cheesy grin.

I am definitely going to try this method on a piece of older furniture that my dad had to repair. I painted it a light yellow and it's boring looking. I think this is absolutely the method to use on it. Thanks for sharing this❣

I love watching you create! I have the sea spray product and I used according to the instructions, stirring it into the paint before applying. I have used it a few times with minimal effect. I like your approach better. You have renewed interest in using sea salt, but sprinkling on top.

Sea Spray is a great way to add texture. Instead of painting it on, try pouncing it on.

Milk paintnhas a antiquing glaze to remove layers with but milk paint is finicky (is that even the spelling) the consistency right and it has to be mixed the night before and most people mix it too thick

I love it, but could you get the same effect by doing a yellow chalk paint and a green milk paint?

Golden. which produces finishes for artists, has products with varying degrees of grit in them and gives you more control.
Also how many colors could you use? More than 2?

Try using a "Crackle" paint effect, then hit it lightly with the putty knife or use a sander.
    Hope you try this effect.

I will be painting a dresser for my 11 YO grandson. He likes greens and greys. I want to paint something other than just the standard panting pattern. I need this dresser to last for a few years at least and grow as he gets older. Any suggestions on patterns or colors?

Brandy, I am painting a buffet. I won’t be able to remove doors to apply salt as you did.
Can you please suggest a method? thank you

it seems like a lot of wasted paint & time to get the effect of an old piece of furniture that already has layers of paint. I guess I'll never understand the "refinishing" of old furniture to make it look old when it was already old looking to begin with. Just slap a new coat of paint on an old piece if you don't like the original color.

I think it’s getting a custom ‘old’ look to match the rest of the decor
