- An excellent afternoon spent at Hartford station on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from Virgin Trains, London Midland and various freight from DB Cargo UK and Freightliner.
I really enjoyed filming at this station as I loved the simple yet pleasant layout of the platforms and the line of sight down the line heading towards Liverpool. You also get the odd London Midland service passing through the station towards Liverpool at near top speed which I found slightly odd seeing as the services heading towards Birmingham stopped here every 30 minutes but the services going to Liverpool only stop here once every hour which I really couldn't comprehend. It would have been nice to catch more freight here today but I did manage to catch a few good tones from the drivers towards the end of the film as Network Rail staff were wondering around at the top of the line before the curve.
My next station is Winsford which is just a few miles up the line, I'm not holding out on the station as it looks relatively tricky to film on but I'll find out when I go there.
You can now find me on Facebook through the group Tornado922, there you will find regular updates, photos and videos from all of my goings on throughout 2016
Great video and fantastic speed!!! I also love the bridge gives an authentic feeling(the stone one off course)
Thanks very much :) I to liked the stone bridge at the top of the station it did give it a good character
Love catching these videos. Great work
Great footage I really enjoy it
Great video mate. Lots of fast Pendolino's here which was cool. Nice capture of the 90 in the old First Scotrail livery. 😊
Thanks very much I'm glad you liked it :) I was happy to catch the two 90's at the start and then the 86 that quickly followed
+Tornado922 Yeah, 86610 hauling a couple fuel wagons with. I laughed when the Virgin Radio liveried Pendolino passed you on the return with the funniest of tones, it sounded like an F1 car. 😂
this is a great vid from a great station loved the class 90s especially in the old first scotrail livery
+Scouse Trainspotter 1999 Thanks very much mate I did really enjoy filming here. The 90's at the start were definitely an added bonus
HARTFORD STATION WAS THE FIRST OUT OF LONDON LOCATION WHERE I SAW STEAM TRAINS,THAT IS FROM CIRCA AGE 6 IN 1950 TO 1966 AND ONE OF THE LAST MEMORIES THERE IS SEEING THE NOW PRESERVED 45379 OPENING UP VOCIFEROUSLY WORKING HARD ON A SOUTHBOUND FREIGHT TRAIN. ANOTHER GOOD PLACE IN AREA WAS HODGE LANE WHERE THIS EUSTON MAIN LINE CROSSES UNDER THE CHESTER TO MANCHESTER LINE VIA NORTHWICH A LARGE TOWN. . THERE ARE NO LESS THAN 3 RAIL STATIONS IN NORTHWICH, HARTFORD OPENED SEPT 1837 // NORTHWICH STATIO OPENED 1 JAN 1863 // HARTFORD AND GREENBANK OPENED 22 JUNE 1870 AND WAS RENAMED JUST GREENBANK OF 5 MAY 1973, THIS STSATION BEING CICA 1 MILE EAST OF HARTFORD AND WEST OF NORTHWICH STATION.
Well this place certainly holds some great memories for you which is always greats to hear!
Great Video Tornado 922 really good:)
Thanks very much I'm glad you did :)
The Pendolino's replaced the 90's and the 90's replaced the OG 86's, good to see them all in the same video.
I've always loved the class 86, as an electric locomotive they just have a unique sense of character about them
86's took over from diesel and steam back in the 60's when the WCML was first electrified, I can't see them staying around for much longer unfortunately.
+tsangpogorge I'm going to enjoy them whilst they last
love it hope you can do more please
I try and get a few films out every week
Very nice video! Love the Thumbnail
Thanks very much :)

***** I need to check your recent upload out as well, I'll do that later
Amazing video love the class 390s if u ever get the chance could u do Glasgow central
+United Kingdom trains Thanks very much :) The 390's are definitely one of the best trains running along the British network. I will go to Glasgow Central should I ever get the opportunity
+Tornado922 it's a great station to do coz at the minute it is the only stationing Scotland that you can see every type of train ran by scotrail due to the Glasgow queen street tunnel being closed
Good station to pick
It was better than I was expecting
Good video.
+10trenes Thanks very much
Cool!
:)
Train station like to see soon very ok Peter Harrison and you can you see the best thing about it for
Penkridge station has a similar oddity to Hartford in that there are trains every half-hour southbound but only once an hour northbound. I don't get why they do that: there is clearly enough capacity to include an extra northbound stop at both of these stations. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever if you ask me...
Anyway, cool video as always
It just really puzzles me why they thought it would make sense to do that. I'm relatively convinced that Winsford is the same
***** Winsford is quite weird as well. It has an hourly service each way (so not quite like Hartford). However, in the northbound direction, the stopping service calls there and the fast service runs non-stop, while in the southbound direction it's the other way around: the fast service calls there and the stopping service runs non-stop! So as a result, you can get a direct train from, say, Smethwick Galton Bridge to Winsford, but you can't go back!
I'm kinda interested to know what the locals think of this oddity because to me it just seems so unnecessarily complicated...
***** it would just make sense to have all the services stopping at these stations instead of creating a really daft timetable that doesn't really make any form of logical sense
can you do a video diry to Liverpool lime street plz
Hey, I love this but what app do you use?
If you have time could you do swinton (south Yorkshire) because they are plenty of passenger trains at a few freight trains and also it's my local station but it's up to you thanks
I've never thought of going there before but there's no reason to suggest that should I ever get the opportunity I can give it a look
You should come to Bicester north.
Should I ever get the opportunity I will look into it
4:24 is 9 car 390040
14:11 again
Good videos
Thanks very much
Your well come can you do trains in York
Rafe beaney-young I have a film from York on my channel that I filmed a couple of months ago
Another Great video when you go to stations you don't seem to get as many tones? Is that because you don't ask for them?
+TheHST Fan It's because of the size of my tablet that I use to film on. Before it was fairly small so I could do it one handed which is why a lot of my earlier films were so shaky. But this new tablet that I have been using since Grantham last year is a lot bigger and means I have to use both hands to film on so I can't wave at drivers
Amazing vid, did you look into Hanwell or Maidenhead?
Thanks very much, I haven't had the chance to look into them as of yet
Could you go to rainham on the high speed one line in one of your vids?
+Eileen Wray When I'm done with my WCML series later this year I will try and get to Rainham but I can't make any guarantees as to when that will be
I went on the first pendo you filmed in this video from Euston to Crewe. Great video, what is so difficult about Winsford?
+Train Gamer02 The Pendolino is exceptionally comfortable to travel on, one of the best in the country. It's more difficult should the weather not be on your side because you have very little cover from the shelter, you could stand underneath the road bridge but the pillars would essentially put you right on top of the tracks
Are you now making your way down to London Euston?
+The Great Eastern Trainspotter Yes I am
Stockport 170 = 390156
if you ever get the nameplate but not the number you can find it's match here en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_390 and go to Current Operations where you'll find all the fleet numbers with matching nameplates
