    A little about Ed….
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and remains grounded with regular returns to his roots at Bynea Cycling Club. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed's viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!
Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com](mailto:laverackcoaching@yahoo.com) for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many!
Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This CZcams channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

I’ve ridden the Marmotte 5 times now and the weather plays a major part. In 2016 it was a full blizzard on the Galibier and I only had a gilet and arm warmers!!

I perfectly agree with what you said. As a Marmotte finisher myself, i have some additional suggestions:
    1. Book a hotel early in the year so that you have a better chance of getting a room in Bourg d'Oisan or even Alpe d'Huez - althouth descending the Alpe that morning is not very nice.
    2. Arive at least one week before the race - spend time at altitude, do some easy sessions at above 1800m of elevation. Also make sure you know the area, restaurants, etc. (tip: book a table at a restaurant in the night before the race)
    3. Ride the Alpe at least one time as a mental preparation of whats going to come. I would also include the Glandon here since many get tricked by the 5% of the Glandon and easily underestimate it.

Did you stay with Ainsley while you were in the Alpes? She mentioned you whilst we were there
